তোমাদের উপর যুদ্ধ ফরয করা হয়েছে, অথচ তা তোমাদের কাছে অপছন্দনীয়। পক্ষান্তরে তোমাদের কাছে হয়তো কোন একটা বিষয় পছন্দসই নয়, অথচ তা তোমাদের জন্য কল্যাণকর। আর হয়তোবা কোন একটি বিষয় তোমাদের কাছে পছন্দনীয় অথচ তোমাদের জন্যে অকল্যাণকর। বস্তুতঃ আল্লাহই জানেন, তোমরা জান না।
Fighting is prescribed for you, and ye dislike it. But it is possible that ye dislike a thing which is good for you, and that ye love a thing which is bad for you. But Allah knoweth, and ye know not. |

আর আহলে-কিতাবগণের একদল বললো, মুসলমানগণের উপর যা কিছু অবর্তীণ হয়েছে তাকে দিনের প্রথম ভাগে মেনে নাও, আর দিনের শেষ ভাগে অস্বীকার ক র, হয়তো তারা মুখ ফিরিয়ে নিতে পারে।
A section of the People of the Book say: "Believe in the morning what is revealed to the believers, but reject it at the end of the day; perchance they may (themselves) Turn back; |

হে ঈমাণদারগণ! বলপূর্বক নারীদেরকে উত্তরাধিকারে গ্রহন করা তোমাদের জন্যে হালাল নয় এবং তাদেরকে আটক রেখো না যাতে তোমরা তাদেরকে যা প্রদান করেছ তার কিয়দংশ নিয়ে নাও; কিন্তু তারা যদি কোন প্রকাশ্য অশ্লীলতা করে! নারীদের সাথে সদ্ভাবে জীবন-যাপন কর। অতঃপর যদি তাদেরকে অপছন্দ কর, তবে হয়ত তোমরা এমন এক জিনিসকে অপছন্দ করছ, যাতে আল্লাহ, অনেক কল্যাণ রেখেছেন।
O ye who believe! Ye are forbidden to inherit women against their will. Nor should ye treat them with harshness, that ye may Take away part of the dower ye have given them,-except where they have been guilty of open lewdness; on the contrary live with them on a footing of kindness and equity. If ye take a dislike to them it may be that ye dislike a thing, and Allah brings about through it a great deal of good. |

আর কোন কোন লোক রয়েছে যারা নিজেদের পাপ স্বীকার করেছে, তারা মিশ্রিত করেছে একটি নেককাজ ও অন্য একটি বদকাজ। শীঘ্রই আল্লাহ হয়ত তাদেরকে ক্ষমা করে দেবেন। নিঃঃসন্দেহে আল্লাহ ক্ষমাশীল করুণাময়।
Others (there are who) have acknowledged their wrong-doings: they have mixed an act that was good with another that was evil. Perhaps Allah will turn unto them (in Mercy): for Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. |

হয়ত তোমাদের পালনকর্তা তোমাদের প্রতি অনুগ্রহ করবেন। কিন্তু যদি পুনরায় তদ্রূপ কর, আমিও পুনরায় তাই করব। আমি জাহান্নামকে কাফেরদের জন্যে কয়েদখানা করেছি।
It may be that your Lord may (yet) show Mercy unto you; but if ye revert (to your sins), We shall revert (to Our punishments): And we have made Hell a prison for those who reject (all Faith). |

রাত্রির কিছু অংশ কোরআন পাঠ সহ জাগ্রত থাকুন। এটা আপনার জন্যে অতিরিক্ত। হয়ত বা আপনার পালনকর্তা আপনাকে মোকামে মাহমুদে পৌঁছাবেন।
And pray in the small watches of the morning: (it would be) an additional prayer (or spiritual profit) for thee: soon will thy Lord raise thee to a Station of Praise and Glory! |

অতঃপর তোমরা তাকে নম্র কথা বল, হয়তো সে চিন্তা-ভাবনা করবে অথবা ভীত হবে।
"But speak to him mildly; perchance he may take warning or fear (Allah)." |
(ত্বোয়া-হা:
আয়াতঃ ৪৪) |

তারা বিশ্বাস করে না বলে আপনি হয়তো মর্মব্যথায় আত্নঘাতী হবেন।
It may be thou frettest thy soul with grief, that they do not become Believers. |
(আশ-শো'আরা:
আয়াতঃ ৩) |

ফেরাউন বলল, হে হামান, তুমি আমার জন্যে একটি সুউচ্চ প্রাসাদ নির্মাণ কর, হয়তো আমি পৌঁছে যেতে পারব।
Pharaoh said: "O Haman! Build me a lofty palace, that I may attain the ways and means- |

হে নবী, তোমরা যখন স্ত্রীদেরকে তালাক দিতে চাও, তখন তাদেরকে তালাক দিয়ো ইদ্দতের প্রতি লক্ষ্য রেখে এবং ইদ্দত গণনা করো। তোমরা তোমাদের পালনকর্তা আল্লাহকে ভয় করো। তাদেরকে তাদের গৃহ থেকে বহিস্কার করো না এবং তারাও যেন বের না হয় যদি না তারা কোন সুস্পষ্ট নির্লজ্জ কাজে লিপ্ত হয়। এগুলো আল্লাহর নির্ধারিত সীমা। যে ব্যক্তি আল্লাহর সীমালংঘন করে, সে নিজেরই অনিষ্ট করে। সে জানে না, হয়তো আল্লাহ এই তালাকের পর কোন নতুন উপায় করে দেবেন।
O Prophet! When ye do divorce women, divorce them at their prescribed periods, and count (accurately), their prescribed periods: And fear Allah your Lord: and turn them not out of their houses, nor shall they (themselves) leave, except in case they are guilty of some open lewdness, those are limits set by Allah: and any who transgresses the limits of Allah, does verily wrong his (own) soul: thou knowest not if perchance Allah will bring about thereafter some new situation. |

আপনি কি জানেন, সে হয়তো পরিশুদ্ধ হত,
But what could tell thee but that perchance he might grow (in spiritual understanding)?- |
