এতদসম্পর্কে যদি তোমাদের কোন সন্দেহ থাকে যা আমি আমার বান্দার প্রতি অবতীর্ণ করেছি, তাহলে এর মত একটি সূরা রচনা করে নিয়ে এস। তোমাদের সেসব সাহায্যকারীদেরকে সঙ্গে নাও-এক আল্লাহকে ছাড়া, যদি তোমরা সত্যবাদী হয়ে থাকো।
And if ye are in doubt as to what We have revealed from time to time to Our servant, then produce a Sura like thereunto; and call your witnesses or helpers (If there are any) besides Allah, if your (doubts) are true. |

মুনাফেকরা এ ব্যাপারে ভয় করে যে, মুসলমানদের উপর না এমন কোন সূরা নাযিল হয়, যাতে তাদের অন্তরের গোপন বিষয় অবহিত করা হবে। সুতরাং আপনি বলে দিন, ঠাট্টা-বিদ্রপ করতে থাক; আল্লাহ তা অবশ্যই প্রকাশ করবেন যার ব্যাপারে তোমরা ভয় করছ।
The Hypocrites are afraid lest a Sura should be sent down about them, showing them what is (really passing) in their hearts. Say: "Mock ye! But verily Allah will bring to light all that ye fear (should be revealed). |

আর যখন নাযিল হয় কোন সূরা যে, তোমরা ঈমান আন আল্লাহর উপর, তাঁর রসূলের সাথে একাত্ন হয়ে; তখন বিদায় কামনা করে তাদের সামর্থ?476;ান লোকেরা এবং বলে আমাদের অব্যাহতি দিন, যাতে আমরা (নিস্ক্রিয়ভাবে) বসে থাকা লোকদের সাথে থেকে যেতে পারি।
When a Sura comes down, enjoining them to believe in Allah and to strive and fight along with His Messenger, those with wealth and influence among them ask thee for exemption, and say: "Leave us (behind): we would be with those who sit (at home)." |

আর যখন কোন সূরা অবতীর্ণ হয়, তখন তাদের কেউ কেউ বলে, এ সূরা তোমাদের মধ্যেকার ঈমান কতটা বৃদ্ধি করলো? অতএব যারা ঈমানদার, এ সূরা তাদের ঈমান বৃদ্ধি করেছে এবং তারা আনন্দিত হয়েছে।
Whenever there cometh down a sura, some of them say: "Which of you has had His faith increased by it?" Yea, those who believe,- their faith is increased and they do rejoice. |

আর যখনই কোন সূরা অবতীর্ণ হয়, তখন তারা একে অন্যের দিকে তাকায় যে, কোন মুসলমান তোমাদের দেখছে কি-না-অতঃপর সরে পড়ে। আল্লাহ ওদের অন্তরকে সত্য বিমুখ করে দিয়েছেন! নিশ্চয়ই তারা নির্বোধ সম্প্রদায়।
Whenever there cometh down a Sura, they look at each other, (saying), "Doth anyone see you?" Then they turn aside: Allah hath turned their hearts (from the light); for they are a people that understand not. |

মানুষ কি বলে যে, এটি বানিয়ে এনেছ? বলে দাও, তোমরা নিয়ে এসো একটিই সূরা, আর ডেকে নাও, যাদেরকে নিতে সক্ষম হও আল্লাহ ব্যতীত, যদি তোমরা সত্যবাদী হয়ে থাক।
Or do they say, "He forged it"? say: "Bring then a Sura like unto it, and call (to your aid) anyone you can besides Allah, if it be ye speak the truth!" |

তারা কি বলে? কোরআন তুমি তৈরী করেছ? তুমি বল, তবে তোমরাও অনুরূপ দশটি সূরা তৈরী করে নিয়ে আস এবং আল্লাহ ছাড়া যাকে পার ডেকে নাও, যদি তোমাদের কথা সত্য হয়ে থাকে।
Or they may say, "He forged it," Say, "Bring ye then ten suras forged, like unto it, and call (to your aid) whomsoever ye can, other than Allah!- If ye speak the truth! |

এটা একটা সূরা যা আমি নাযিল করেছি, এবং দায়িত্বে অপরিহার্য করেছি। এতে আমি সুস্পষ্ট আয়াতসমূহ অবতীর্ণ করেছি, যাতে তোমরা স্মরণ রাখ।
A sura which We have sent down and which We have ordained in it have We sent down Clear Signs, in order that ye may receive admonition. |

যারা মুমিন, তারা বলেঃ একটি সূরা নাযিল হয় না কেন? অতঃপর যখন কোন দ্ব্যর্থহীন সূরা নাযিল হয় এবং তাতে জেহাদের উল্লেখ করা হয়, তখন যাদের অন্তরে রোগ আছে, আপনি তাদেরকে মৃত্যুভয়ে মূর্ছাপ্রাপ্ত মানুষের মত আপনার দিকে তাকিয়ে থাকতে দেখবেন। সুতরাং ধ্বংস তাদের জন্যে।
Those who believe say, "Why is not a sura sent down (for us)?" But when a sura of basic or categorical meaning is revealed, and fighting is mentioned therein, thou wilt see those in whose hearts is a disease looking at thee with a look of one in swoon at the approach of death. But more fitting for them- |

পানপাত্র কুঁজা ও খাঁটি সূরাপূর্ণ পেয়ালা হাতে নিয়ে,
With goblets, (shining) beakers, and cups (filled) out of clear-flowing fountains: |
