এ তো শুনলে, যে ব্যক্তি নিপীড়িত হয়ে নিপীড়ন পরিমাণে প্রতিশোধ গ্রহণ করে এবং পুনরায় সে নিপীড়িত হয়, আল্লাহ অবশ্যই তাকে সাহায্য করবেন। নিশ্চয় আল্লাহ মার্জনাকারী ক্ষমাশীল।
That (is so). And if one has retaliated to no greater extent than the injury he received, and is again set upon inordinately, Allah will help him: for Allah is One that blots out (sins) and forgives (again and again). |

তোমরা যখন একথা শুনলে, তখন ঈমানদার পুরুষ ও নারীগণ কেন নিজেদের লোক সম্পর্কে উত্তম ধারণা করনি এবং বলনি যে, এটা তো নির্জলা অপবাদ?
Why did not the believers - men and women - when ye heard of the affair,- put the best construction on it in their own minds and say, "This (charge) is an obvious lie"? |

তোমরা যখন এ কথা শুনলে তখন কেন বললে না যে, এ বিষয়ে কথা বলা আমাদের উচিত নয়। আল্লাহ তো পবিত্র, মহান। এটা তো এক গুরুতর অপবাদ।
And why did ye not, when ye heard it, say? - "It is not right of us to speak of this: Glory to Allah! this is a most serious slander!" |

তোমরা তাদেরকে ডাকলে তারা তোমাদের সে ডাক শুনে না। শুনলেও তোমাদের ডাকে সাড়া দেয় না। কেয়ামতের দিন তারা তোমাদের শেরক অস্বীকার করবে। বস্তুতঃ আল্লাহর ন্যায় তোমাকে কেউ অবহিত করতে পারবে না।
If ye invoke them, they will not listen to your call, and if they were to listen, they cannot answer your (prayer). On the Day of Judgment they will reject your "Partnership". and none, (O man!) can tell thee (the Truth) like the One Who is acquainted with all things. |

এটাতো শুনলে, এখন দুষ্টদের জন্যে রয়েছে নিকৃষ্ট ঠিকানা
Yea, such! but - for the wrong-doers will be an evil place of (Final) Return!- |

অতঃপর যখন তোমরা কাফেরদের সাথে যুদ্ধে অবতীর্ণ হও, তখন তাদের গর্দার মার, অবশেষে যখন তাদেরকে পূর্ণরূপে পরাভূত কর তখন তাদেরকে শক্ত করে বেধে ফেল। অতঃপর হয় তাদের প্রতি অনুগ্রহ কর, না হয় তাদের নিকট হতে মুক্তিপণ লও। তোমরা যুদ্ধ চালিয়ে যাবে যে পর্যন্ত না শত্রুপক্ষ অস্ত্র সমর্পণ করবে! একথা শুনলে। আল্লাহ ইচ্ছা করলে তাদের কাছ থেকে প্রতিশোধ নিতে পারতেন। কিন্তু তিনি তোমাদের কতককে কতকের দ্বারা পরীক্ষা করতে চান। যারা আল্লাহর পথে শহীদ হয়, আল্লাহ কখনই তাদের কর্ম বিনষ্ট করবেন না।
Therefore, when ye meet the Unbelievers (in fight), smite at their necks; At length, when ye have thoroughly subdued them, bind a bond firmly (on them): thereafter (is the time for) either generosity or ransom: Until the war lays down its burdens. Thus (are ye commanded): but if it had been Allah's Will, He could certainly have exacted retribution from them (Himself); but (He lets you fight) in order to test you, some with others. But those who are slain in the Way of Allah,- He will never let their deeds be lost. |
