যারা আল্লাহর রাস্তায় স্বীয় ধন সম্পদ ব্যয় করে, তাদের উদাহরণ একটি বীজের মত, যা থেকে সাতটি শীষ জন্মায়। প্রত্যেকটি শীষে একশ করে দানা থাকে। আল্লাহ অতি দানশীল, সর্বজ্ঞ।
The parable of those who spend their substance in the way of Allah is that of a grain of corn: it groweth seven ears, and each ear Hath a hundred grains. Allah giveth manifold increase to whom He pleaseth: And Allah careth for all and He knoweth all things. |

বাদশাহ বললঃ আমি স্বপ্নে দেখলাম, সাতটি মোটাতাজা গাভী-এদেরকে সাতটি শীর্ণ গাভী খেয়ে যাচ্ছে এবং সাতটি সবুজ শীষ ও অন্যগুলো শুষ্ক। হে পরিষদবর্গ! তোমরা আমাকে আমার স্বপ্নের ব্যাখ্যা বল, যদি তোমরা স্বপ্নের ব্যাখ্যায় পারদর্শী হয়ে থাক।
The king (of Egypt) said: "I do see (in a vision) seven fat kine, whom seven lean ones devour, and seven green ears of corn, and seven (others) withered. O ye chiefs! Expound to me my vision if it be that ye can interpret visions." |

বললঃ তোমরা সাত বছর উত্তম রূপে চাষাবাদ করবে। অতঃপর যা কাটবে, তার মধ্যে যে সামান্য পরিমাণ তোমরা খাবে তা ছাড়া অবশিষ্ট শস্য শীষ সমেত রেখে দেবে।
(Joseph) said: "For seven years shall ye diligently sow as is your wont: and the harvests that ye reap, ye shall leave them in the ear,- except a little, of which ye shall eat. |
