আপনি বলুন, আমি আমার প্রতিপালকের অবাধ্য হতে ভয় পাই কেননা, আমি একটি মহাদিবসের শাস্তিকে ভয় করি।
Say: "I would, if I disobeyed my Lord, indeed have fear of the penalty of a Mighty Day. |

যাদেরকে তারা আহবান করে, তারা নিজেরাই তো তাদের পালনকর্তার নৈকট্য লাভের জন্য মধ্যস্থ তালাশ করে যে, তাদের মধ্যে কে নৈকট্যশীল। তারা তাঁর রহমতের আশা করে এবং তাঁর শাস্তিকে ভয় করে। নিশ্চয় আপনার পালনকর্তার শাস্তি ভয়াবহ।
Those whom they call upon do desire (for themselves) means of access to their Lord, - even those who are nearest: they hope for His Mercy and fear His Wrath: for the Wrath of thy Lord is something to take heed of. |

অতএব আজকের দিনে তোমরা একে অপরের কোন উপকার ও অপকার করার অধিকারী হবে না আর আমি জালেমদেরকে বলব, তোমরা আগুনের যে শাস্তিকে মিথ্যা বলতে তা আস্বাদন কর।
So on that Day no power shall they have over each other, for profit or harm: and We shall say to the wrong-doers, "Taste ye the Penalty of the Fire,- the which ye were wont to deny!" |

(অতঃপর) তারা যখন শাস্তিকে মেঘরূপে তাদের উপত্যকা অভিমুখী দেখল, তখন বলল, এ তো মেঘ, আমাদেরকে বৃষ্টি দেবে। বরং এটা সেই বস্তু, যা তোমরা তাড়াতাড়ি চেয়েছিলে। এটা বায়ু এতে রয়েছে মর্মন্তুদ শাস্তি।
Then, when they saw the (Penalty in the shape of) a cloud traversing the sky, coming to meet their valleys, they said, "This cloud will give us rain!" "Nay, it is the (Calamity) ye were asking to be hastened!- A wind wherein is a Grievous Penalty! |

তারা যা বলে, তা আমি সম্যক অবগত আছি। আপনি তাদের উপর জোরজবরকারী নন। অতএব, যে আমার শাস্তিকে ভয় করে, তাকে কোরআনের মাধ্যমে উপদেশ দান করুন।
We know best what they say; and thou art not one to overawe them by force. So admonish with the Qur'an such as fear My Warning! |

যারা যন্ত্রণাদায়ক শাস্তিকে ভয় করে, আমি তাদের জন্যে সেখানে একটি নিদর্শন রেখেছি।
And We left there a Sign for such as fear the Grievous Penalty. |
