আর বহু নবী ছিলেন, যাঁদের সঙ্গী-সাথীরা তাঁদের অনুবর্তী হয়ে জেহাদ করেছে; আল্লাহর পথে-তাদের কিছু কষ্ট হয়েছে বটে, কিন্তু আল্লাহর রাহে তারা হেরেও যায়নি, ক্লান্তও হয়নি এবং দমেও যায়নি। আর যারা সবর করে, আল্লাহ তাদেরকে ভালবাসেন।
How many of the prophets fought (in Allah's way), and with them (fought) Large bands of godly men? but they never lost heart if they met with disaster in Allah's way, nor did they weaken (in will) nor give in. And Allah Loves those who are firm and steadfast. |

আমি কারুন, ফেরাউন ও হামানকে ধ্বংস করেছি। মূসা তাদের কাছে সুস্পষ্ট নিদর্শনাবলী নিয়ে আগমন করেছিল অতঃপর তারা দেশে দম্ভ করেছিল। কিন্তু তারা জিতে যায়নি।
(Remember also) Qarun, Pharaoh, and Haman: there came to them Moses with Clear Signs, but they behaved with insolence on the earth; yet they could not overreach (Us). |

তারা মনে করে শক্রবাহিনী চলে যায়নি। যদি শক্রবাহিনী আবার এসে পড়ে, তবে তারা কামনা করবে যে, যদি তারা গ্রামবাসীদের মধ্য থেকে তোমাদের সংবাদাদি জেনে নিত, তবেই ভাল হত। তারা তোমাদের মধ্যে অবস্থান করলেও যুদ্ধ সামান্যই করত।
They think that the Confederates have not withdrawn; and if the Confederates should come (again), they would wish they were in the deserts (wandering) among the Bedouins, and seeking news about you (from a safe distance); and if they were in your midst, they would fight but little. |
