আর তোমরা সে গ্রন্থের প্রতি বিশ্বাস স্থাপন কর, যা আমি অবতীর্ণ করেছি সত্যবক্তা হিসেবে তোমাদের কাছে। বস্তুতঃ তোমরা তার প্রাথমিক অস্বীকারকারী হয়ো না আর আমার আয়াতের অল্প মূল্য দিও না। এবং আমার (আযাব) থেকে বাঁচ।
And believe in what I reveal, confirming the revelation which is with you, and be not the first to reject Faith therein, nor sell My Signs for a small price; and fear Me, and Me alone. |

নিশ্চয় যারা সেসব বিষয় গোপন করে, যা আল্লাহ কিতাবে নাযিল করেছেন এবং সেজন্য অল্প মূল্য গ্রহণ করে, তারা আগুন ছাড়া নিজের পেটে আর কিছুই ঢুকায় না। আর আল্লাহ কেয়ামতের দিন তাদের সাথে না কথা বলবেন, না তাদের পবিত্র করা হবে, বস্তুতঃ তাদের জন্যে রয়েছে বেদনাদায়ক আযাব।
Those who conceal Allah's revelations in the Book, and purchase for them a miserable profit,- they swallow into themselves naught but Fire; Allah will not address them on the Day of Resurrection. Nor purify them: Grievous will be their penalty. |

আর আল্লাহ যখন আহলে কিতাবদের কাছ থেকে প্রতিজ্ঞা গ্রহণ করলেন যে, তা মানুষের নিকট বর্ণনা করবে এবং গোপন করবে না, তখন তারা সে প্রতিজ্ঞাকে নিজেদের পেছনে ফেলে রাখল আর তার কেনা-বেচা করল সামান্য মূল্যের বিনিময়ে। সুতরাং কতই না মন্দ তাদের এ বেচা-কেনা।
And remember Allah took a covenant from the People of the Book, to make it known and clear to mankind, and not to hide it; but they threw it away behind their backs, and purchased with it some miserable gain! And vile was the bargain they made! |

তোমাদের আযাব দিয়ে আল্লাহ কি করবেন যদি তোমরা কৃতজ্ঞতা প্রকাশ কর এবং ঈমানের উপর প্রতিষ্ঠিত থাক! আর আল্লাহ হচ্ছেন সমুচিত মূল্যদানকারী সর্বজ্ঞ।
What can Allah gain by your punishment, if ye are grateful and ye believe? Nay, it is Allah that recogniseth (all good), and knoweth all things. |

আমি তওরাত অবর্তীর্ন করেছি। এতে হেদায়াত ও আলো রয়েছে। আল্লাহর আজ্ঞাবহ পয়গম্বর, দরবেশ ও আলেমরা এর মাধ্যমে ইহুদীদেরকে ফয়সালা দিতেন। কেননা, তাদেরকে এ খোদায়ী গ্রন্থের দেখাশোনা করার নির্দেশ দেয়া হয়েছিল এবং তাঁরা এর রক্ষণাবেক্ষণে নিযুক্ত ছিলেন। অতএব, তোমরা মানুষকে ভয় করো না এবং আমাকে ভয় কর এবং আমার আয়াত সমূহের বিনিময়ে স্বল্পমূল্যে গ্রহণ করো না, যেসব লোক আল্লাহ যা অবতীর্ণ করেছেন, তদনুযায়ী ফায়সালা করে না, তারাই কাফের।
It was We who revealed the law (to Moses): therein was guidance and light. By its standard have been judged the Jews, by the prophets who bowed (as in Islam) to Allah's will, by the rabbis and the doctors of law: for to them was entrusted the protection of Allah's book, and they were witnesses thereto: therefore fear not men, but fear me, and sell not my signs for a miserable price. If any do fail to judge by (the light of) what Allah hath revealed, they are (no better than) Unbelievers. |

তারা আল্লাহকে যথার্থ মূল্যায়ন করতে পারেনি, যখন তারা বললঃ আল্লাহ কোন মানুষের প্রতি কোন কিছু অবতীর্ণ করেননি। আপনি জিজ্ঞেস করুনঃ ঐ গ্রন্থ কে নাযিল করেছে, যা মূসা নিয়ে এসেছিল ? যা জ্যোতিবিশেষ এবং মানব মন্ডলীর জন্যে হোদায়েতস্বরূপ, যা তোমরা বিক্ষিপ্তপত্রে রেখে লোকদের জন্যে প্রকাশ করছ এবং বহুলাংশকে গোপন করছ। তোমাদেরকে এমন অনেক বিষয় শিক্ষা দেয়া হয়েছে, যা তোমরা এবং তোমাদের পূর্বপুরুষরা জানতো না। আপনি বলে দিনঃ আল্লাহ নাযিল করেছেন। অতঃপর তাদেরকে তাদের ক্রীড়ামূলক বৃত্তিতে ব্যাপৃত থাকতে দিন।
No just estimate of Allah do they make when they say: "Nothing doth Allah send down to man (by way of revelation)" Say: "Who then sent down the Book which Moses brought?- a light and guidance to man: But ye make it into (separate) sheets for show, while ye conceal much (of its contents): therein were ye taught that which ye knew not- neither ye nor your fathers." Say: "Allah (sent it down)": Then leave them to plunge in vain discourse and trifling. |

আল্লাহ ক্রয় করে নিয়েছেন মুসলমানদের থেকে তাদের জান ও মাল এই মূল্যে যে, তাদের জন্য রয়েছে জান্নাত। তারা যুদ্ধ করে আল্লাহর রাহেঃ অতঃপর মারে ও মরে। তওরাত, ইঞ্জিল ও কোরআনে তিনি এ সত্য প্রতিশ্রুতিতে অবিচল। আর আল্লাহর চেয়ে প্রতিশ্রুতি রক্ষায় কে অধিক? সুতরাং তোমরা আনন্দিত হও সে লেন-দেনের উপর, যা তোমরা করছ তাঁর সাথে। আর এ হল মহান সাফল্য।
Allah hath purchased of the believers their persons and their goods; for theirs (in return) is the garden (of Paradise): they fight in His cause, and slay and are slain: a promise binding on Him in truth, through the Law, the Gospel, and the Qur'an: and who is more faithful to his covenant than Allah? then rejoice in the bargain which ye have concluded: that is the achievement supreme. |

ওরা তাকে কম মূল্যে বিক্রি করে দিল গনাগুণতি কয়েক দেরহাম এবং তাঁর ব্যাপারে নিরাসক্ত ছিল।
The (Brethren) sold him for a miserable price, for a few dirhams counted out: in such low estimation did they hold him! |

এবং সে ভৃত্যদেরকে বললঃ তাদের পণ্যমূল্য তাদের রসদ-পত্রের মধ্যে রেখে দাও-সম্ভবতঃ তারা গৃহে পৌঁছে তা বুঝতে পারবে, সম্ভবতঃ তারা পুনর্বার আসবে।
And (Joseph) told his servants to put their stock-in-trade (with which they had bartered) into their saddle-bags, so they should know it only when they returned to their people, in order that they might come back. |

এবং যখন তারা আসবাবপত্র খুলল, তখন দেখতে পেল যে, তাদেরকে তাদের পন্যমুল্য ফেরত দেয়া হয়েছে। তারা বললঃ হে আমাদের পিতা, আমরা আর কি চাইতে পারি। এই আমাদের প্রদত্ত পন্যমূল্য, আমাদেরকে ফেরত দেয়া হয়েছে। এখন আমরা আবার আমাদের পরিবারবর্গের জন্যে রসদ আনব এবং আমাদের ভাইয়ের দেখাশোনা করব এবং এক এক উটের বরাদ্দ খাদ্যশস্য আমরা অতিরিক্ত আনব। ঐ বরাদ্দ সহজ।
Then when they opened their baggage, they found their stock-in-trade had been returned to them. They said: "O our father! What (more) can we desire? this our stock-in-trade has been returned to us: so we shall get (more) food for our family; We shall take care of our brother; and add (at the same time) a full camel's load (of grain to our provisions). This is but a small quantity. |

তোমরা আল্লাহর অঙ্গীকারের বিনিময়ে সামান্য মূল্য গ্রহণ করো না। নিশ্চয় আল্লাহর কাছে যা আছে, তা উত্তম তোমাদের জন্যে, যদি তোমরা জ্ঞানী হও।
Nor sell the covenant of Allah for a miserable price: for with Allah is (a prize) far better for you, if ye only knew. |

তারা সবুজ মসনদে এবং উৎকৃষ্ট মূল্যবান বিছানায় হেলান দিয়ে বসবে।
