গণনার কয়েকটি দিনের জন্য অতঃপর তোমাদের মধ্যে যে, অসুখ থাকবে অথবা সফরে থাকবে, তার পক্ষে অন্য সময়ে সে রোজা পূরণ করে নিতে হবে। আর এটি যাদের জন্য অত্যন্ত কষ্ট দায়ক হয়, তারা এর পরিবর্তে একজন মিসকীনকে খাদ্যদান করবে। যে ব্যক্তি খুশীর সাথে সৎকর্ম করে, তা তার জন্য কল্যাণ কর হয়। আর যদি রোজা রাখ, তবে তোমাদের জন্যে বিশেষ কল্যাণকর, যদি তোমরা তা বুঝতে পার।
(Fasting) for a fixed number of days; but if any of you is ill, or on a journey, the prescribed number (Should be made up) from days later. For those who can do it (With hardship), is a ransom, the feeding of one that is indigent. But he that will give more, of his own free will,- it is better for him. And it is better for you that ye fast, if ye only knew. |

যার এ সামর্থ্য নেই, সে একে অপরকে স্পর্শ করার পূর্বে একাদিক্রমে দুই মাস রোযা রাখবে। যে এতেও অক্ষম হয় সে ষাট জন মিসকীনকে আহার করাবে। এটা এজন্যে, যাতে তোমরা আল্লাহ ও তাঁর রসূলের প্রতি বিশ্বাস স্থাপন কর। এগুলো আল্লাহর নির্ধারিত শাস্তি। আর কাফেরদের জন্যে রয়েছে যন্ত্রণা দায়ক আযাব।
And if any has not (the wherewithal), he should fast for two months consecutively before they touch each other. But if any is unable to do so, he should feed sixty indigent ones, this, that ye may show your faith in Allah and His Messenger. Those are limits (set by) Allah. For those who reject (Him), there is a grievous Penalty. |

এবং মিসকীনকে আহার্য দিতে উৎসাহিত করত না।
"And would not encourage the feeding of the indigent! |
(আল হাক্বক্বাহ:
আয়াতঃ ৩৪) |

এবং মিসকীনকে অন্নদানে পরস্পরকে উৎসাহিত কর না।
Nor do ye encourage one another to feed the poor!- |
(আল ফজর:
আয়াতঃ ১৮) |

অথবা ধুলি-ধুসরিত মিসকীনকে
Or to the indigent (down) in the dust. |
(আল বালাদ:
আয়াতঃ ১৬) |

এবং মিসকীনকে অন্ন দিতে উৎসাহিত করে না।
And encourages not the feeding of the indigent. |
