হে ঈমানদারগন! তোমাদের প্রতি নিহতদের ব্যাপারে কেসাস গ্রহণ করা বিধিবদ্ধ করা হয়েছে। স্বাধীন ব্যক্তি স্বাধীন ব্যক্তির বদলায়, দাস দাসের বদলায় এবং নারী নারীর বদলায়। অতঃপর তার ভাইয়ের তরফ থেকে যদি কাউকে কিছুটা মাফ করে দেয়া হয়, তবে প্রচলিত নিয়মের অনুসরণ করবে এবং ভালভাবে তাকে তা প্রদান করতে হবে। এটা তোমাদের পালনকর্তার তরফ থেকে সহজ এবং বিশেষ অনুগ্রহ। এরপরও যে ব্যাক্তি বাড়াবাড়ি করে, তার জন্য রয়েছে বেদনাদায়ক আযাব।
O ye who believe! the law of equality is prescribed to you in cases of murder: the free for the free, the slave for the slave, the woman for the woman. But if any remission is made by the brother of the slain, then grant any reasonable demand, and compensate him with handsome gratitude, this is a concession and a Mercy from your Lord. After this whoever exceeds the limits shall be in grave penalty. |

মূসা বললঃ হে আমার পালনকর্তা, আমি শুধু নিজের উপর ও নিজের ভাইয়ের উপর ক্ষমতা রাখি। অতএব, আপনি আমাদের মধ্যে ও এ অবাধ্য সম্প্রদায়ের মধ্যে সম্পর্কচ্ছেদ করুন।
He said: "O my Lord! I have power only over myself and my brother: so separate us from this rebellious people!" |

তারপর যখন মূসা নিজ সম্প্রদায়ে ফিরে এলেন রাগাম্বিত ও অনুতপ্ত অবস্থায়, তখন বললেন, আমার অনুপস্থিতিতে তোমরা আমার কি নিকৃষ্ট প্রতিনিধিত্বটাই না করেছ। তোমরা নিজ পরওয়ারদেগারের হুকুম থেকে কি তাড়াহুড়া করে ফেললে এবং সে তখতীগুলো ছুঁড়ে ফেলে দিলেন এবং নিজের ভাইয়ের মাথার চুল চেপে ধরে নিজের দিকে টানতে লাগলেন। ভাই বললেন, হে আমার মায়ের পুত্র, লোকগুলো যে আমাকে দুর্বল মনে করল এবং আমাকে যে মেরে ফেলার উপক্রম করেছিল। সুতরাং আমার উপর আর শত্রুদের হাসিও না। আর আমাকে জালিমদের সারিতে গন্য করো না।
When Moses came back to his people, angry and grieved, he said: "Evil it is that ye have done in my place in my absence: did ye make haste to bring on the judgment of your Lord?" He put down the tablets, seized his brother by (the hair of) his head, and dragged him to him. Aaron said: "Son of my mother! the people did indeed reckon me as naught, and went near to slaying me! Make not the enemies rejoice over my misfortune, nor count thou me amongst the people of sin." |

আর আমি নির্দেশ পাঠালাম মূসা এবং তার ভাইয়ের প্রতি যে, তোমরা তোমাদের জাতির জন্য মিসরের মাটিতে বাস স্থান নির্ধারণ কর। আর তোমাদের ঘরগুলো বানাবে কেবলামুখী করে এবং নামায কায়েম কর আর যারা ঈমানদার তাদেরকে সুসংবাদ দান কর।
We inspired Moses and his brother with this Message: "Provide dwellings for your people in Egypt, make your dwellings into places of worship, and establish regular prayers: and give glad tidings to those who believe!" |

এবং যখন তারা আসবাবপত্র খুলল, তখন দেখতে পেল যে, তাদেরকে তাদের পন্যমুল্য ফেরত দেয়া হয়েছে। তারা বললঃ হে আমাদের পিতা, আমরা আর কি চাইতে পারি। এই আমাদের প্রদত্ত পন্যমূল্য, আমাদেরকে ফেরত দেয়া হয়েছে। এখন আমরা আবার আমাদের পরিবারবর্গের জন্যে রসদ আনব এবং আমাদের ভাইয়ের দেখাশোনা করব এবং এক এক উটের বরাদ্দ খাদ্যশস্য আমরা অতিরিক্ত আনব। ঐ বরাদ্দ সহজ।
Then when they opened their baggage, they found their stock-in-trade had been returned to them. They said: "O our father! What (more) can we desire? this our stock-in-trade has been returned to us: so we shall get (more) food for our family; We shall take care of our brother; and add (at the same time) a full camel's load (of grain to our provisions). This is but a small quantity. |

অতঃপর যখন ইউসুফ তাদের রসদপত্র প্রস্তুত করে দিল, তখন পানপাত্র আপন ভাইয়ের রসদের মধ্যে রেখে দিল। অতঃপর একজন ঘোষক ডেকে বললঃ হে কাফেলার লোকজন, তোমরা অবশ্যই চোর।
At length when he had furnished them forth with provisions (suitable) for them, he put the drinking cup into his brother's saddle-bag. Then shouted out a crier: "O ye (in) the caravan! behold! ye are thieves, without doubt!" |

অতঃপর ইউসুফ আপন ভাইদের থলের পূর্বে তাদের থলে তল্লাশী শুরু করলেন। অবশেষে সেই পাত্র আপন ভাইয়ের থলের মধ্য থেকে বের করলেন। এমনিভাবে আমি ইউসুফকে কৌশল শিক্ষা দিয়েছিলাম। সে বাদশাহর আইনে আপন ভাইকে কখনও দাসত্বে দিতে পারত না, কিু栦#2438;ল্লাহ যদি ইচ্ছা করেন। আমি যাকে ইচ্ছা, মর্যাদায় উন্নীত করি এবং প্রত্যেক জ্ঞানীর উপরে আছে অধিকতর এক জ্ঞানীজন।
So he began (the search) with their baggage, before (he came to) the baggage of his brother: at length he brought it out of his brother's baggage. Thus did We plan for Joseph. He could not take his brother by the law of the king except that Allah willed it (so). We raise to degrees (of wisdom) whom We please: but over all endued with knowledge is one, the All-Knowing. |

ইউসুফ বললেনঃ তোমাদের জানা আছে কি, যা তোমরা ইউসুফ ও তার ভাইয়ের সাথে করেছ, যখন তোমরা অপরিণামদর্শী ছিলে?
He said: "Know ye how ye dealt with Joseph and his brother, not knowing (what ye were doing)?" |

আয়াতঃ ৮৯) |

তাদের অন্তরে যে ক্রোধ ছিল, আমি তা দূর করে দেব। তারা ভাই ভাইয়ের মত সামনা-সামনি আসনে বসবে।
And We shall remove from their hearts any lurking sense of injury: (they will be) brothers (joyfully) facing each other on thrones (of dignity). |

আ’দ সম্প্রদায়ের ভাইয়ের কথা স্মরণ করুন, তার পূর্বে ও পরে অনেক সতর্ককারী গত হয়েছিল সে তার সম্প্রদায়কে বালুকাময় উচ্চ উপত্যকায় এ মর্মে সতর্ক করেছিল যে, তোমরা আল্লাহ ব্যতীত কারও এবাদত করো না। আমি তোমাদের জন্যে এক মহাদিবসের শাস্তির আশংকা করি।
Mention (Hud) one of 'Ad's (own) brethren: Behold, he warned his people about the winding Sand-tracts: but there have been warners before him and after him: "Worship ye none other than Allah: Truly I fear for you the Penalty of a Mighty Day." |

মুমিনরা তো পরস্পর ভাই-ভাই। অতএব, তোমরা তোমাদের দুই ভাইয়ের মধ্যে মীমাংসা করবে এবং আল্লাহকে ভয় করবে-যাতে তোমরা অনুগ্রহপ্রাপ্ত হও।
The Believers are but a single Brotherhood: So make peace and reconciliation between your two (contending) brothers; and fear Allah, that ye may receive Mercy. |
