আমি কিন্তু তাদের প্রতি জুলুম করি নাই বরং তারা নিজেরাই নিজের উপর অবিচার করেছে। ফলে আল্লাহকে বাদ দিয়ে তারা যেসব মাবুদকে ডাকতো আপনার পালনকর্তার হুকুম যখন এসে পড়ল, তখন কেউ কোন কাজে আসল না। তারা শুধু বিপর্যয়ই বৃদ্ধি করল।
It was not We that wronged them: They wronged their own souls: the deities, other than Allah, whom they invoked, profited them no whit when there issued the decree of thy Lord: Nor did they add aught (to their lot) but perdition! |

কাজেই, তোমাদের পূর্ববতী জাতি গুলির মধ্যে এমন সৎকর্মশীল কেন রইল না, যারা পৃথিবীতে বিপর্যয় সৃষ্টি করতে বাধা দিত; তবে মুষ্টিমেয় লোক ছিল যাদেরকে আমি তাদের মধ্য হতে রক্ষা করেছি। আর পাপিষ্ঠরা তো ভোগ বিলাসে মত্ত ছিল যার সামগ্রী তাদেরকে যথেষ্ট দেয়া হয়েছিল। আসলে তারা ছিল মহা অপরাধী।
Why were there not, among the generations before you, persons possessed of balanced good sense, prohibiting (men) from mischief in the earth - except a few among them whom We saved (from harm)? But the wrong-doers pursued the enjoyment of the good things of life which were given them, and persisted in sin. |

রসূলের আহবানকে তোমরা তোমাদের একে অপরকে আহ্বানের মত গণ্য করো না। আল্লাহ তাদেরকে জানেন, যারা তোমাদের মধ্যে চুপিসারে সরে পড়ে। অতএব যারা তাঁর আদেশের বিরুদ্ধাচরণ করে, তারা এ বিষয়ে সতর্ক হোক যে, বিপর্যয় তাদেরকে স্পর্শ করবে অথবা যন্ত্রণাদায়ক শাস্তি তাদেরকে গ্রাস করবে।
Deem not the summons of the Messenger among yourselves like the summons of one of you to another: Allah doth know those of you who slip away under shelter of some excuse: then let those beware who withstand the Messenger's order, lest some trial befall them, or a grievous penalty be inflicted on them. |

স্থলে ও জলে মানুষের কৃতকর্মের দরুন বিপর্যয় ছড়িয়ে পড়েছে। আল্লাহ তাদেরকে তাদের কর্মের শাস্তি আস্বাদন করাতে চান, যাতে তারা ফিরে আসে।
Mischief has appeared on land and sea because of (the meed) that the hands of men have earned, that (Allah) may give them a taste of some of their deeds: in order that they may turn back (from Evil). |

আমি কি বিশ্বাসী ও সৎকর্মীদেরকে পৃথিবীতে বিপর্যয় সৃষ্টিকারী কাফেরদের সমতুল্য করে দেব? না খোদাভীরুদেরকে পাপাচারীদের সম্মান করে দেব।
Shall We treat those who believe and work deeds of righteousness, the same as those who do mischief on earth? Shall We treat those who guard against evil, the same as those who turn aside from the right? |

ফেরাউন বলল; তোমরা আমাকে ছাড়, মূসাকে হত্যা করতে দাও, ডাকুক সে তার পালনকর্তাকে! আমি আশংকা করি যে, সে তোমাদের ধর্ম পরিবর্তন করে দেবে অথবা সে দেশময় বিপর্যয় সৃষ্টি করবে।
Said Pharaoh: "Leave me to slay Moses; and let him call on his Lord! What I fear is lest he should change your religion, or lest he should cause mischief to appear in the land!" |

যদি আল্লাহ তাঁর সকল বান্দাকে প্রচুর রিযিক দিতেন, তবে তারা পৃথিবীতে বিপর্যয় সৃষ্টি করত। কিন্তু তিনি যে পরিমাণ ইচ্ছা সে পরিমাণ নাযিল করেন। নিশ্চয় তিনি তাঁর বান্দাদের খবর রাখেন ও সবকিছু দেখেন।
If Allah were to enlarge the provision for His Servants, they would indeed transgress beyond all bounds through the earth; but he sends (it) down in due measure as He pleases. For He is with His Servants Well-acquainted, Watchful. |

অতঃপর সমুদ গোত্রকে ধ্বংস করা হয়েছিল এক প্রলয়ংকর বিপর্যয় দ্বারা।
But the Thamud,- they were destroyed by a terrible Storm of thunder and lightning! |
