কি আশ্চর্য, যখন তারা কোন অঙ্গীকারে আবদ্ধ হয়, তখন তাদের একদল তা ছুঁড়ে ফেলে, বরং অধিকাংশই বিশ্বাস করে না।
Is it not (the case) that every time they make a covenant, some party among them throw it aside?- Nay, Most of them are faithless. |

আল্লাহর রহমতেই আপনি তাদের জন্য কোমল হৃদয় হয়েছেন পক্ষান্তরে আপনি যদি রাগ ও কঠিন হৃদয় হতেন তাহলে তারা আপনার কাছ থেকে বিচ্ছিন্ন হয়ে যেতো। কাজেই আপনি তাদের ক্ষমা করে দিন এবং তাদের জন্য মাগফেরাত কামনা করুন এবং কাজে কর্মে তাদের পরামর্শ করুন। অতঃপর যখন কোন কাজের সিদ্ধান্ত গ্রহণ করে ফেলেন, তখন আল্লাহ তা’আলার উপর ভরসা করুন আল্লাহ তাওয়াক্কুল কারীদের ভালবাসেন।
It is part of the Mercy of Allah that thou dost deal gently with them Wert thou severe or harsh-hearted, they would have broken away from about thee: so pass over (Their faults), and ask for (Allah's) forgiveness for them; and consult them in affairs (of moment). Then, when thou hast Taken a decision put thy trust in Allah. For Allah loves those who put their trust (in Him). |

আর আল্লাহ যখন আহলে কিতাবদের কাছ থেকে প্রতিজ্ঞা গ্রহণ করলেন যে, তা মানুষের নিকট বর্ণনা করবে এবং গোপন করবে না, তখন তারা সে প্রতিজ্ঞাকে নিজেদের পেছনে ফেলে রাখল আর তার কেনা-বেচা করল সামান্য মূল্যের বিনিময়ে। সুতরাং কতই না মন্দ তাদের এ বেচা-কেনা।
And remember Allah took a covenant from the People of the Book, to make it known and clear to mankind, and not to hide it; but they threw it away behind their backs, and purchased with it some miserable gain! And vile was the bargain they made! |

আর এতীমদের প্রতি বিশেষভাবে নজর রাখবে, যে পর্যন্ত না তারা বিয়ের বয়সে পৌঁছে। যদি তাদের মধ্যে বুদ্ধি-বিবেচনার উন্মেষ আঁচ করতে পার, তবে তাদের সম্পদ তাদের হাতে অর্পন করতে পার। এতীমের মাল প্রয়োজনাতিরিক্ত খরচ করো না বা তারা বড় হয়ে যাবে মনে করে তাড়াতাড়ি খেয়ে ফেলো না। যারা স্বচ্ছল তারা অবশ্যই এতীমের মাল খরচ করা থেকে বিরত থাকবে। আর যে অভাবগ্রস্ত সে সঙ্গত পরিমাণ খেতে পারে। যখন তাদের হাতে তাদের সম্পদ প্রত্যার্পণ কর, তখন সাক্ষী রাখবে। অবশ্য আল্লাহই হিসাব নেয়ার ব্যাপারে যথেষ্ট।
Make trial of orphans until they reach the age of marriage; if then ye find sound judgment in them, release their property to them; but consume it not wastefully, nor in haste against their growing up. If the guardian is well-off, Let him claim no remuneration, but if he is poor, let him have for himself what is just and reasonable. When ye release their property to them, take witnesses in their presence: But all-sufficient is Allah in taking account. |

যদি আপনার প্রতি আল্লাহর অনুগ্রহ ও করুণা না হত, তবে তাদের একদল আপনাকে পথভ্রষ্ট করার সংকল্প করেই ফেলেছিল। তারা পথভ্রান্ত করতে পারে না কিন্তু নিজেদেরকেই এবং আপনার কোন অনিষ্ট করতে পারে না। আল্লাহ আপনার প্রতি ঐশী গ্রন্থ ও প্রজ্ঞা অবতীর্ণ করেছেন এবং আপনাকে এমন বিষয় শিক্ষা দিয়েছেন, যা আপনি জানতেন না। আপনার প্রতি আল্লাহর করুণা অসীম।
But for the Grace of Allah to thee and his Mercy, a party of them would certainly have plotted to lead thee astray. But (in fact) they will only Lead their own souls astray, and to thee they can do no harm in the least. For Allah hath sent down to thee the Book and wisdom and taught thee what thou Knewest not (before): And great is the Grace of Allah unto thee. |

তোমরা কখনও নারীদেরকে সমান রাখতে পারবে না, যদিও এর আকাঙ্ক্ষী হও। অতএব, সম্পূর্ণ ঝুঁকেও পড়ো না যে, একজনকে ফেলে রাখ দোদুল্যমান অবস্থায়। যদি সংশোধন কর এবং খোদাভীরু হও, তবে আল্লাহ ক্ষমাশীল, করুণাময়।
Ye are never able to be fair and just as between women, even if it is your ardent desire: But turn not away (from a woman) altogether, so as to leave her (as it were) hanging (in the air). If ye come to a friendly understanding, and practise self-restraint, Allah is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful. |

আয়াতঃ ১২৯) |

যাদেরকে আমি কিতাব দান করেছি, তারা তাকে চিনে, যেমন তাদের সন্তানদেরকে চিনে। যারা নিজেদেরকে ক্ষতির মধ্যে ফেলেছে, তারা বিশ্বাস স্থাপন করবে না।
Those to whom We have given the Book know this as they know their own sons. Those who have lost their own souls refuse therefore to believe. |

আর এভাবেই আমি কিছু লোককে কিছু লোক দ্বারা পরীক্ষায় ফেলেছি যাতে তারা বলে যে, এদেরকেই কি আমাদের সবার মধ্য থেকে আল্লাহ স্বীয় অনুগ্রহ দান করেছেন? আল্লাহ কি কৃতজ্ঞদের সম্পর্কে সুপরিজ্ঞাত নন ?
Thus did We try some of them by comparison with others, that they should say: "Is it these then that Allah hath favoured from amongst us?" Doth not Allah know best those who are grateful? |

তাদেরকে পরিত্যাগ করুন, যারা নিজেদের ধর্মকে ক্রীড়া ও কৌতুকরূপে গ্রহণ করেছে এবং পার্থিব জীবন যাদেরকে ধোঁকায় ফেলে রেখেছে। কোরআন দ্বারা তাদেরকে উপদেশ দিন, যাতে কেউ স্বীয় কর্মে এমন ভাবে গ্রেফতার না হয়ে যায় যে, আল্লাহ ব্যতীত তার কোন সাহায্যকারী ও সুপারিশকারী নেই এবং যদি তারা জগতের বিনিময়ও প্রদান কবে, তবু তাদের কাছ থেকে তা গ্রহণ করা হবে না। একাই স্বীয় কর্মে জড়িত হয়ে পড়েছে। তাদের জন্যে উত্তপ্ত পানি এবং যন্ত্রণাদায়ক শাস্তি রয়েছে-কুফরের কারণে।
Leave alone those who take their religion to be mere play and amusement, and are deceived by the life of this world. But proclaim (to them) this (truth): that every soul delivers itself to ruin by its own acts: it will find for itself no protector or intercessor except Allah: if it offered every ransom, (or reparation), none will be accepted: such is (the end of) those who deliver themselves to ruin by their own acts: they will have for drink (only) boiling water, and for punishment, one most grievous: for they persisted in rejecting Allah. |

তারা স্বীয় ধর্মকে তামাশা ও খেলা বানিয়ে নিয়েছিল এবং পার্থিব জীবন তাদের কে ধোকায় ফেলে রেখেছিল। অতএব, আমি আজকে তাদেরকে ভুলে যাব; যেমন তারা এ দিনের সাক্ষাৎকে ভুলে গিয়েছিল এবং যেমন তারা আয়াতসমূহকে অবিশ্বাস করত।
"Such as took their religion to be mere amusement and play, and were deceived by the life of the world." That day shall We forget them as they forgot the meeting of this day of theirs, and as they were wont to reject Our signs. |
(আল আ'রাফ:
আয়াতঃ ৫১) |

আমি আমার নিদর্শনসমূহ হতে তাদেরকে ফিরিয়ে রাখি, যারা পৃথিবীতে অন্যায়ভাবে গর্ব করে। যদি তারা সমস্ত নিদর্শন প্রত্যক্ষ করে ফেলে, তবুও তা বিশ্বাস করবে না। আর যদি হেদায়েতের পথ দেখে, তবে সে পথ গ্রহণ করে না। অথচ গোমরাহীর পথ দেখলে তাই গ্রহণ করে নেয়। এর কারণ, তারা আমার নিদর্শনসমূহকে মিথ্যা বলে মনে করেছে এবং তা থেকে বেখবর রয়ে গেছে।
Those who behave arrogantly on the earth in defiance of right - them will I turn away from My signs: Even if they see all the signs, they will not believe in them; and if they see the way of right conduct, they will not adopt it as the way; but if they see the way of error, that is the way they will adopt. For they have rejected our signs, and failed to take warning from them. |

তারপর যখন মূসা নিজ সম্প্রদায়ে ফিরে এলেন রাগাম্বিত ও অনুতপ্ত অবস্থায়, তখন বললেন, আমার অনুপস্থিতিতে তোমরা আমার কি নিকৃষ্ট প্রতিনিধিত্বটাই না করেছ। তোমরা নিজ পরওয়ারদেগারের হুকুম থেকে কি তাড়াহুড়া করে ফেললে এবং সে তখতীগুলো ছুঁড়ে ফেলে দিলেন এবং নিজের ভাইয়ের মাথার চুল চেপে ধরে নিজের দিকে টানতে লাগলেন। ভাই বললেন, হে আমার মায়ের পুত্র, লোকগুলো যে আমাকে দুর্বল মনে করল এবং আমাকে যে মেরে ফেলার উপক্রম করেছিল। সুতরাং আমার উপর আর শত্রুদের হাসিও না। আর আমাকে জালিমদের সারিতে গন্য করো না।
When Moses came back to his people, angry and grieved, he said: "Evil it is that ye have done in my place in my absence: did ye make haste to bring on the judgment of your Lord?" He put down the tablets, seized his brother by (the hair of) his head, and dragged him to him. Aaron said: "Son of my mother! the people did indeed reckon me as naught, and went near to slaying me! Make not the enemies rejoice over my misfortune, nor count thou me amongst the people of sin." |

আয়াতঃ ১৫০) |

তবে কোন সম্প্রদায়ের ধোঁকা দেয়ার ব্যাপারে যদি তোমাদের ভয় থাকে, তবে তাদের চুক্তি তাদের দিকেই ছুঁড়ে ফেলে দাও এমনভাবে যেন হয়ে যাও তোমরাও তারা সমান। নিশ্চয়ই আল্লাহ ধোকাবাজ, প্রতারককে পছন্দ করেন না।
If thou fearest treachery from any group, throw back (their covenant) to them, (so as to be) on equal terms: for Allah loveth not the treacherous. |
(আল-আনফাল:
আয়াতঃ ৫৮) |

আর কেউ ঈমান আনল না মূসার প্রতি তাঁর কওমের কতিপয় বালক ছাড়া-ফেরাউন ও তার সর্দারদের ভয়ে যে, এরা না আবার কোন বিপদে ফেলে দেয়। ফেরাউন দেশময় কর্তꦣ2499;ত্বের শিখরে আরোহণ করেছিল। আর সে তার হাত ছেড়ে রেখেছিল।
But none believed in Moses except some children of his people, because of the fear of Pharaoh and his chiefs, lest they should persecute them; and certainly Pharaoh was mighty on the earth and one who transgressed all bounds. |

শোয়ায়েব (আঃ) বলেন-হে আমার জাতি, আমার ভাই বন্ধুরা কি তোমাদের কাছে আল্লাহর চেয়ে প্রভাবশালী? আর তোমরা তাকে বিস্মৃত হয়ে পেছনে ফেলে রেখেছ, নিশ্চয় তোমাদের কার্যকলাপ আমার পালনকর্তার আয়ত্তে রয়েছে।
He said: "O my people! is then my family of more consideration with you than Allah? For ye cast Him away behind your backs (with contempt). But verily my Lord encompasseth on all sides all that ye do! |
(হুদ:
আয়াতঃ ৯২) |
| 16 |
হত্যা কর ইউসুফকে কিংবা ফেলে আস তাকে অন্য কোন স্থানে। এতে শুধু তোমাদের প্রতিই তোমাদের পিতার মনোযোগ নিবিষ্ট হবে এবং এরপর তোমরা যোগ্য বিবেচিত হয়ে থাকবে।
"Slay ye Joseph or cast him out to some (unknown) land, that so the favour of your father may be given to you alone: (there will be time enough) for you to be righteous after that!" |
(ইউসূফ:
আয়াতঃ ৯) |
| 17 |
তাদের মধ্য থেকে একজন বলল, তোমরা ইউসুফ কে হত্যা করো না, বরং ফেলে দাও তাকে অন্ধকূপে যাতে কোন পথিক তাকে উঠিয়ে নিয়ে যায়, যদি তোমাদের কিছু করতেই হয়।
Said one of them: "Slay not Joseph, but if ye must do something, throw him down to the bottom of the well: he will be picked up by some caravan of travellers." |
(ইউসূফ:
আয়াতঃ ১০) |
| 18 |
তারা বললঃ আমরা একটি ভারী দল থাকা সত্ত্বেও যদি ব্যাঘ্র তাকে খেয়ে ফেলে, তবে আমরা সবই হারালাম।
They said: "If the wolf were to devour him while we are (so large) a party, then should we indeed (first) have perished ourselves!" |
(ইউসূফ:
আয়াতঃ ১৪) |

তারা বললঃ পিতাঃ আমরা দৌড় প্রতিযোগিতা করতে গিয়েছিলাম এবং ইউসুফকে আসবাব-পত্রের কাছে রেখে গিয়েছিলাম। অতঃপর তাকে বাঘে খেয়ে ফেলেছে। আপনি তো আমাদেরকে বিশ্বাস করবেন না, যদিও আমরা সত্যবাদী।
They said: "O our father! We went racing with one another, and left Joseph with our things; and the wolf devoured him.... But thou wilt never believe us even though we tell the truth." |
(ইউসূফ:
আয়াতঃ ১৭) |
| 20 |
তোমাদের কাছে কি তোমাদের পূর্ববর্তী কওমে নূহ, আদ ও সামুদের এবং তাদের পরবর্তীদের খবর পৌছেনি? তাদের বিষয়ে আল্লাহ ছাড়া আর কেউ জানে না। তাদের কাছে তাদের পয়গম্বর প্রমানাদি নিয়ে আগমন করেন। অতঃপর তারা নিজেদের হাত নিজেদের মুখে রেখে দিয়েছে এবং বলেছে, যা কিছু সহ তোমাদেরকে প্রেরণ করা হয়েছে, আমরা তা মানি না এবং যে পথের দিকে তোমরা আমাদেরকে দাওয়াত দাও, সে সম্পর্কে আমাদের মনে সন্দেহ আছে, যা আমাদেরকে উৎকন্ঠায় ফেলে রেখেছে।
Has not the story reached you, (O people!), of those who (went) before you? - of the people of Noah, and 'Ad, and Thamud? - And of those who (came) after them? None knows them but Allah. To them came messengers with Clear (Signs); but they put their hands up to their mouths, and said: "We do deny (the mission) on which ye have been sent, and we are really in suspicious (disquieting) doubt as to that to which ye invite us." |

আয়াতঃ ৯) |

তোমরা ঐ মহিলার মত হয়ো না, যে পরিশ্রমের পর কাটা সূতা টুকরো টুকরো করে ছিড়ে ফেলে, তোমরা নিজেদের কসমসমূহকে পারস্পরিক প্রবঞ্চনার বাহানা রূপে গ্রহণ কর এজন্যে যে, অন্য দল অপেক্ষা এক দল অধিক ক্ষমতাবান হয়ে যায়। এতদ্বারা তো আল্লাহ শুধু তোমাদের পরীক্ষা করেন। আল্লাহ অবশ্যই কিয়ামতের দিন প্রকাশ করে দেবেন, যে বিষয়ে তোমরা কলহ করতে।
And be not like a woman who breaks into untwisted strands the yarn which she has spun, after it has become strong. Nor take your oaths to practise deception between yourselves, lest one party should be more numerous than another: for Allah will test you by this; and on the Day of Judgment He will certainly make clear to you (the truth of) that wherein ye disagree. |

যখন আপনি কোরআন পাঠ করেন, তখন আমি আপনার মধ্যে ও পরকালে অবিশ্বাসীদের মধ্যে প্রচ্ছন্ন পর্দা ফেলে দেই।
When thou dost recite the Qur'an, We put, between thee and those who believe not in the Hereafter, a veil invisible: |
(বনী ইসরাঈল:
আয়াতঃ ৪৫) |
| 23 |
অথবা আপনি যেমন বলে থাকেন, তেমনিভাবে আমাদের উপর আসমানকে খন্ড-বিখন্ড করে ফেলে দেবেন অথবা আল্লাহ ও ফেরেশতাদেরকে আমাদের সামনে নিয়ে আসবেন।
"Or thou cause the sky to fall in pieces, as thou sayest (will happen), against us; or thou bring Allah and the angels before (us) face to face: |
(বনী ইসরাঈল:
আয়াতঃ ৯২) |

তখন আমি কয়েক বছরের জন্যে গুহায় তাদের কানের উপর নিদ্রার পর্দা ফেলে দেই।
Then We draw (a veil) over their ears, for a number of years, in the Cave, (so that they heard not): |

সে কি অদৃশ্য বিষয় জেনে ফেলেছে, অথবা দয়াময় আল্লাহর নিকট থেকে কোন প্রতিশ্রুতি প্রাপ্ত হয়েছে?
Has he penetrated to the Unseen, or has he taken a contract with (Allah) Most Gracious? |
(মারইয়াম:
আয়াতঃ ৭৮) |

হে মূসা, তোমার সম্প্রদায়কে পেছনে ফেলে তুমি ত্বরা করলে কেন?
(When Moses was up on the Mount, Allah said:) "What made thee hasten in advance of thy people, O Moses?" |
(ত্বোয়া-হা:
আয়াতঃ ৮৩) |
| 27 |
ঈমানদার নারীদেরকে বলুন, তারা যেন তাদের দৃষ্টিকে নত রাখে এবং তাদের যৌন অঙ্গের হেফাযত করে। তারা যেন যা সাধারণতঃ প্রকাশমান, তা ছাড়া তাদের সৌন্দর্য প্রদর্শন না করে এবং তারা যেন তাদের মাথার ওড়না বক্ষ দেশে ফেলে রাখে এবং তারা যেন তাদের স্বামী, পিতা, শ্বশুর, পুত্র, স্বামীর পুত্র, ভ্রাতা, ভ্রাতুস্পুত্র, ভগ্নিপুত্র, স্ত্রীলোক অধিকারভুক্ত বাঁদী, যৌনকামনামুক্ত পুরুষ, ও বালক, যারা নারীদের গোপন অঙ্গ সম্পর্কে অজ্ঞ, তাদের ব্যতীত কারো আছে তাদের সৌন্দর্য প্রকাশ না করে, তারা যেন তাদের গোপন সাজ-সজ্জা প্রকাশ করার জন্য জোরে পদচারণা না করে। মুমিনগণ, তোমরা সবাই আল্লাহর সামনে তওবা কর, যাতে তোমরা সফলকাম হও।
And say to the believing women that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty; that they should not display their beauty and ornaments except what (must ordinarily) appear thereof; that they should draw their veils over their bosoms and not display their beauty except to their husbands, their fathers, their husband's fathers, their sons, their husbands' sons, their brothers or their brothers' sons, or their sisters' sons, or their women, or the slaves whom their right hands possess, or male servants free of physical needs, or small children who have no sense of the shame of sex; and that they should not strike their feet in order to draw attention to their hidden ornaments. And O ye Believers! turn ye all together towards Allah, that ye may attain Bliss. |

অতএব, যদি সত্যবাদী হও, তবে আকাশের কোন টুকরো আমাদের উপর ফেলে দাও।
"Now cause a piece of the sky to fall on us, if thou art truthful!" |
(আশ-শো'আরা:
আয়াতঃ ১৮৭) |
| 29 |
তিনি বললেন, হে আমার পালনকর্তা, আমি তো নিজের উপর জুলুম করে ফেলেছি। অতএব, আমাকে ক্ষমা করুন। আল্লাহ তাকে ক্ষমা করলেন। নিশ্চয় তিনি ক্ষমাশীল, দয়ালু।
He prayed: "O my Lord! I have indeed wronged my soul! Do Thou then forgive me!" So (Allah) forgave him: for He is the Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. |
(আল কাসাস:
আয়াতঃ ১৬) |
| 30 |
তাদের দুস্কর্ম তাদেরকে বিপদে ফেলেছে, এদের মধ্যেও যারা পাপী, তাদেরকেও অতি সত্ত্বর তাদের দুস্কর্ম বিপদে ফেলবে। তারা তা প্রতিহত করতে সক্ষম হবে না।
Nay, the evil results of their Deeds overtook them. And the wrong-doers of this (generation)- the evil results of their Deeds will soon overtake them (too), and they will never be able to frustrate (Our Plan)! |

আয়াতঃ ৫১) |

কাফেররাই কেবল আল্লাহর আয়াত সম্পর্কে বিতর্ক করে। কাজেই নগরীসমূহে তাদের বিচরণ যেন আপনাকে বিভ্রান্তিতে না ফেলে।
None can dispute about the Signs of Allah but the Unbelievers. Let not, then, their strutting about through the land deceive thee! |
(আল-মু'মিন:
আয়াতঃ ৪) |

আর কাফেররা মুমিনদের বলতে লাগল যে, যদি এ দ্বীন ভাল হত তবে এরা আমাদেরকে পেছনে ফেলে এগিয়ে যেতে পারত না। তারা যখন এর মাধ্যমে সুপথ পায়নি, তখন শীঘ্রই বলবে, এ তো এক পুরাতন মিথ্যা।
The Unbelievers say of those who believe: "If (this Message) were a good thing, (such men) would not have gone to it first, before us!" And seeing that they guide not themselves thereby, they will say, "this is an (old,) falsehood!" |
(আল আহক্বাফ:
আয়াতঃ ১১) |

তোমাদের মধ্যে যারা তাদের স্ত্রীগণকে মাতা বলে ফেলে, তাদের স্ত্রীগণ তাদের মাতা নয়। তাদের মাতা কেবল তারাই, যারা তাদেরকে জন্মদান করেছে। তারা তো অসমীচীন ও ভিত্তিহীন কথাই বলে। নিশ্চয় আল্লাহ মার্জনাকারী, ক্ষমাশীল।
If any men among you divorce their wives by Zihar (calling them mothers), they cannot be their mothers: None can be their mothers except those who gave them birth. And in fact they use words (both) iniquitous and false: but truly Allah is one that blots out (sins), and forgives (again and again). |
(আল মুজাদালাহ:
আয়াতঃ ২) |
| 34 |
যারা তাদের স্ত্রীগণকে মাতা বলে ফেলে, অতঃপর নিজেদের উক্তি প্রত্যাহার করে, তাদের কাফফারা এই একে অপরকে স্পর্শ করার পূর্বে একটি দাসকে মুক্তি দিবে। এটা তোমাদের জন্যে উপদেশ হবে। আল্লাহ খবর রাখেন তোমরা যা কর।
But those who divorce their wives by Zihar, then wish to go back on the words they uttered,- (It is ordained that such a one) should free a slave before they touch each other: Thus are ye admonished to perform: and Allah is well-acquainted with (all) that ye do. |

কাফেররা যখন কোরআন শুনে, তখন তারা তাদের দৃষ্টি দ্বারা যেন আপনাকে আছাড় দিয়ে ফেলে দিবে এবং তারা বলেঃ সে তো একজন পাগল।
And the Unbelievers would almost trip thee up with their eyes when they hear the Message; and they say: "Surely he is possessed!" |

নিশ্চয় এরা পার্থিব জীবনকে ভালবাসে এবং এক কঠিন দিবসকে পশ্চাতে ফেলে রাখে।
As to these, they love the fleeting life, and put away behind them a Day (that will be) hard. |
