পেছনে থেকে যাওয়া লোকেরা আল্লাহর রসূল থেকে বিচ্ছিন্ন হয়ে বসে থাকতে পেরে আনন্দ লাভ করেছে; আর জান ও মালের দ্বারা আল্লাহর রাহে জেহাদ করতে অপছন্দ করেছে এবং বলেছে, এই গরমের মধ্যে অভিযানে বের হয়ো না। বলে দাও, উত্তাপে জাহান্নামের আগুন প্রচন্ডতম। যদি তাদের বিবেচনা শক্তি থাকত।
Those who were left behind (in the Tabuk expedition) rejoiced in their inaction behind the back of the Messenger of Allah: they hated to strive and fight, with their goods and their persons, in the cause of Allah: they said, "Go not forth in the heat." Say, "The fire of Hell is fiercer in heat." If only they could understand! |

অতঃপর সুর্যোদয়ের সময় তাদেরকে প্রচন্ড একটি শব্দ এসে পাকড়াও করল।
But the (mighty) Blast overtook them before morning, |

আমি প্রত্যেককেই তার অপরাধের কারণে পাকড়াও করেছি। তাদের কারও প্রতি প্রেরণ করেছি প্রস্তরসহ প্রচন্ড বাতাস, কাউকে পেয়েছে বজ্রপাত, কাউকে আমি বিলীন করেছি ভূগর্ভে এবং কাউকে করেছি নিমজ্জত। আল্লাহ তাদের প্রতি যুলুম করার ছিলেন না; কিন্তু তারা নিজেরাই নিজেদের প্রতি যুলুম করেছে।
Each one of them We seized for his crime: of them, against some We sent a violent tornado (with showers of stones); some were caught by a (mighty) Blast; some We caused the earth to swallow up; and some We drowned (in the waters): It was not Allah Who injured (or oppressed) them:" They injured (and oppressed) their own souls. |

হে আমার কওম, আমি তোমাদের জন্যে প্রচন্ড হাঁক-ডাকের দিনের আশংকা করি।
"And O my people! I fear for you a Day when there will be Mutual calling (and wailing),- |

আমি তাদের প্রতি প্রেরণ করেছিলাম প্রস্তর বর্ষণকারী প্রচন্ড ঘূর্ণিবায়ু; কিন্তু লূত পরিবারের উপর নয়। আমি তাদেরকে রাতের শেষপ্রহরে উদ্ধার করেছিলাম।
We sent against them a violent Tornado with showers of stones, (which destroyed them), except Lut's household: them We delivered by early Dawn,- |

লূত (আঃ) তাদেরকে আমার প্রচন্ড পাকড়াও সম্পর্কে সতর্ক করেছিল। অতঃপর তারা সতর্কবাণী সম্পর্কে বাকবিতন্ডা করেছিল।
And (Lut) did warn them of Our Punishment, but they disputed about the Warning. |

আমি আমার রসূলগণকে সুস্পষ্ট নিদর্শনসহ প্রেরণ করেছি এবং তাঁদের সাথে অবতীর্ণ করেছি কিতাব ও ন্যায়নীতি, যাতে মানুষ ইনসাফ প্রতিষ্ঠা করে। আর আমি নাযিল করেছি লৌহ, যাতে আছে প্রচন্ড রণশক্তি এবং মানুষের বহুবিধ উপকার। এটা এজন্যে যে, আল্লাহ জেনে নিবেন কে না দেখে তাঁকে ও তাঁর রসূলগণকে সাহায্য করে। আল্লাহ শক্তিধর, পরাক্রমশালী।
We sent aforetime our messengers with Clear Signs and sent down with them the Book and the Balance (of Right and Wrong), that men may stand forth in justice; and We sent down Iron, in which is (material for) mighty war, as well as many benefits for mankind, that Allah may test who it is that will help, Unseen, Him and His messengers: For Allah is Full of Strength, Exalted in Might (and able to enforce His Will). |

তারা সংঘবদ্ধভাবেও তোমাদের বিরুদ্ধে যুদ্ধ করতে পারবে না। তারা যুদ্ধ করবে কেবল সুরক্ষিত জনপদে অথবা দুর্গ প্রাচীরের আড়াল থেকে। তাদের পারস্পরিক যুদ্ধই প্রচন্ড হয়ে থাকে। আপনি তাদেরকে ঐক্যবদ্ধ মনে করবেন; কিন্তু তাদের অন্তর শতধাবিচ্ছিন্ন। এটা এ কারণে যে, তারা এক কান্ডজ্ঞানহীণ সম্প্রদায়।
They will not fight you (even) together, except in fortified townships, or from behind walls. Strong is their fighting (spirit) amongst themselves: thou wouldst think they were united, but their hearts are divided: that is because they are a people devoid of wisdom. |

এবং আদ গোত্রকে ধ্বংস করা হয়েছিল এক প্রচন্ড ঝঞ্জাবায়ূ,
And the 'Ad, they were destroyed by a furious Wind, exceedingly violent; |
