আর যারা আল্লাহর রাস্তায় নিহত হয়, তাদের মৃত বলো না। বরং তারা জীবিত, কিন্তু তোমরা তা বুঝ না।
And say not of those who are slain in the way of Allah: "They are dead." Nay, they are living, though ye perceive (it) not. |

হে ঈমানদারগন! তোমাদের প্রতি নিহতদের ব্যাপারে কেসাস গ্রহণ করা বিধিবদ্ধ করা হয়েছে। স্বাধীন ব্যক্তি স্বাধীন ব্যক্তির বদলায়, দাস দাসের বদলায় এবং নারী নারীর বদলায়। অতঃপর তার ভাইয়ের তরফ থেকে যদি কাউকে কিছুটা মাফ করে দেয়া হয়, তবে প্রচলিত নিয়মের অনুসরণ করবে এবং ভালভাবে তাকে তা প্রদান করতে হবে। এটা তোমাদের পালনকর্তার তরফ থেকে সহজ এবং বিশেষ অনুগ্রহ। এরপরও যে ব্যাক্তি বাড়াবাড়ি করে, তার জন্য রয়েছে বেদনাদায়ক আযাব।
O ye who believe! the law of equality is prescribed to you in cases of murder: the free for the free, the slave for the slave, the woman for the woman. But if any remission is made by the brother of the slain, then grant any reasonable demand, and compensate him with handsome gratitude, this is a concession and a Mercy from your Lord. After this whoever exceeds the limits shall be in grave penalty. |

আর মুহাম্মদ একজন রসূল বৈ তো নয়! তাঁর পূর্বেও বহু রসূল অতিবাহিত হয়ে গেছেন। তাহলে কি তিনি যদি মৃত্যুবরণ করেন অথবা নিহত হন, তবে তোমরা পশ্চাদপসরণ করবে? বস্তুতঃ কেউ যদি পশ্চাদপসরণ করে, তবে তাতে আল্লাহর কিছুই ক্ষতি-বৃদ্ধি হবে না। আর যারা কৃতজ্ঞ, আল্লাহ তাদের সওয়াব দান করবেন।
Muhammad is no more than a messenger: many Were the messenger that passed away before him. If he died or were slain, will ye then Turn back on your heels? If any did turn back on his heels, not the least harm will he do to Allah; but Allah (on the other hand) will swiftly reward those who (serve Him) with gratitude. |

অতঃপর তোমাদের উপর শোকের পর শান্তি অবতীর্ণ করলেন, যা ছিল তন্দ্রার মত। সে তন্দ্রায় তোমাদের মধ্যে কেউ কেউ ঝিমোচ্ছিল আর কেউ কেউ প্রাণের ভয়ে ভাবছিল। আল্লাহ সম্পর্কে তাদের মিথ্যা ধারণা হচ্ছিল মুর্খদের মত। তারা বলছিল আমাদের হাতে কি কিছুই করার নেই? তুমি বল, সবকিছুই আল্লাহর হাতে। তারা যা কিছু মনে লুকিয়ে রাখে-তোমার নিকট প্রকাশ করে না সে সবও। তারা বলে আমাদের হাতে যদি কিছু করার থাকতো, তাহলে আমরা এখানে নিহত হতাম না। তুমি বল, তোমরা যদি নিজেদের ঘরেও থাকতে তবুও তারা অবশ্যই বেরিয়ে আসত নিজেদের অবস্থান থেকে যাদের মৃত্যু লিখে দেয়া হয়েছে। তোমাদের বুকে যা রয়েছে তার পরীক্ষা করা ছিল আল্লাহর ইচ্ছা, আর তোমাদের অন্তরে যা কিছু রয়েছে তা পরিষ্কার করা ছিল তাঁর কাম্য। আল্লাহ মনের গোপন বিষয় জানেন।
After (the excitement) of the distress, He sent down calm on a band of you overcome with slumber, while another band was stirred to anxiety by their own feelings, Moved by wrong suspicions of Allah-suspicions due to ignorance. They said: "What affair is this of ours?" Say thou: "Indeed, this affair is wholly Allah's." They hide in their minds what they dare not reveal to thee. They say (to themselves): "If we had had anything to do with this affair, We should not have been in the slaughter here." Say: "Even if you had remained in your homes, those for whom death was decreed would certainly have gone forth to the place of their death"; but (all this was) that Allah might test what is in your breasts and purge what is in your hearts. For Allah knoweth well the secrets of your hearts. |

আর তোমরা যদি আল্লাহর পথে নিহত হও কিংবা মৃত্যুবরণ কর, তোমরা যা কিছু সংগ্রহ করে থাক আল্লাহ তা’আলার ক্ষমা ও করুণা সে সবকিছুর চেয়ে উত্তম।
And if ye are slain, or die, in the way of Allah, forgiveness and mercy from Allah are far better than all they could amass. |

আর তোমরা মৃত্যুই বরণ কর অথবা নিহতই হও, অবশ্য আল্লাহ তা’আলার সামনেই সমবেত হবে।
And if ye die, or are slain, Lo! it is unto Allah that ye are brought together. |

ওরা হলো যে সব লোক, যারা বসে থেকে নিজেদের ভাইদের সম্বদ্ধে বলে, যদি তারা আমাদের কথা শুনত, তবে নিহত হত না। তাদেরকে বলে দিন, এবার তোমাদের নিজেদের উপর থেকে মৃত্যুকে সরিয়ে দাও, যদি তোমরা সত্যবাদী হয়ে থাক।
(They are) the ones that say, (of their brethren slain), while they themselves sit (at ease): "If only they had listened to us they would not have been slain." Say: "Avert death from your own selves, if ye speak the truth." |

আর যারা আল্লাহর রাহে নিহত হয়, তাদেরকে তুমি কখনো মৃত মনে করো না। বরং তারা নিজেদের পালনকর্তার নিকট জীবিত ও জীবিকাপ্রাপ্ত।
Think not of those who are slain in Allah's way as dead. Nay, they live, finding their sustenance in the presence of their Lord; |

মুসলমানের কাজ নয় যে, মুসলমানকে হত্যা করে; কিন্তু ভুলক্রমে। যে ব্যক্তি মুসলমানকে ভূলক্রমে হত্যা করে, সে একজন মুসলমান ক্রীতদাস মুক্ত করবে এবং রক্ত বিনিময় সমর্পন করবে তার স্বজনদেরকে; কিন্তু যদি তারা ক্ষমা করে দেয়। অতঃপর যদি নিহত ব্যক্তি তোমাদের শত্রু সম্প্রদায়ের অন্তর্গত হয়, তবে মুসলমান ক্রীতদাস মুক্ত করবে এবং যদি সে তোমাদের সাথে চুক্তিবদ্ধ কোন সম্প্রদায়ের অন্তর্গত হয়, তবে রক্ত বিনিময় সমর্পণ করবে তার স্বজনদেরকে এবং একজন মুসলমান ক্রীতদাস মুক্ত করবে। অতঃপর যে ব্যক্তি না পায়, সে আল্লাহর কাছ থেকে গোনাহ মাফ করানোর জন্যে উপর্যুপুরি দুই মাস রোযা রাখবে। আল্লাহ, মহাজ্ঞানী, প্রজ্ঞাময়।
Never should a believer kill a believer; but (If it so happens) by mistake, (Compensation is due): If one (so) kills a believer, it is ordained that he should free a believing slave, and pay compensation to the deceased's family, unless they remit it freely. If the deceased belonged to a people at war with you, and he was a believer, the freeing of a believing slave (Is enough). If he belonged to a people with whom ye have treaty of Mutual alliance, compensation should be paid to his family, and a believing slave be freed. For those who find this beyond their means, (is prescribed) a fast for two months running: by way of repentance to Allah: for Allah hath all knowledge and all wisdom. |

আর যখন তোমরা ছিলে সমরাঙ্গনের এ প্রান্তে আর তারা ছিল সে প্রান্তে অথচ কাফেলা তোমাদের থেকে নীচে নেমে গিয়েছিল। এমতাবস্থায় যদি তোমরা পারস্পরিক অঙ্গীকারাবদ্ধ হতে, তবে তোমরা এক সঙ্গে সে ওয়াদা পালন করতে পারতে না। কিন্তু আল্লাহ তা’আলা এমন এক কাজ করতে চেয়েছিলেন, যা নির্ধারিত হয়ে গিয়েছিল যাতে সে সব লোক নিহত হওয়ার ছিল, প্রমাণ প্রতিষ্ঠার পর এবং যাদের বাঁচার ছিল, তারা বেঁচে থাকে প্রমাণ প্রতিষ্ঠার পর। আর নিশ্চিতই আল্লাহ শ্রবণকারী, বিজ্ঞ।
Remember ye were on the hither side of the valley, and they on the farther side, and the caravan on lower ground than ye. Even if ye had made a mutual appointment to meet, ye would certainly have failed in the appointment: But (thus ye met), that Allah might accomplish a matter already enacted; that those who died might die after a clear Sign (had been given), and those who lived might live after a Clear Sign (had been given). And verily Allah is He Who heareth and knoweth (all things). |

সে প্রাণকে হত্যা করো না, যাকে আল্লাহ হারাম করেছেন; কিন্তু ন্যায়ভাবে। যে ব্যক্তি অন্যায়ভাবে নিহত হয়, আমি তার উত্তরাধিকারীকে ক্ষমতা দান করি। অতএব, সে যেন হত্যার ব্যাপারে সীমা লঙ্ঘন না করে। নিশ্চয় সে সাহায্যপ্রাপ্ত।
Nor take life - which Allah has made sacred - except for just cause. And if anyone is slain wrongfully, we have given his heir authority (to demand qisas or to forgive): but let him not exceed bounds in the matter of taking life; for he is helped (by the Law). |

যারা আল্লাহর পথে গৃহ ত্যাগ করেছে, এরপর নিহত হয়েছে অথবা মরে গেছে; আল্লাহ তাদেরকে অবশ্যই উৎকৃষ্ট জীবিকা দান করবেন এবং আল্লাহ সর্বোৎকৃষ্ট রিযিক দাতা।
Those who leave their homes in the cause of Allah, and are then slain or die,- On them will Allah bestow verily a goodly Provision: Truly Allah is He Who bestows the best provision. |
(হাজ্জ্ব:
আয়াতঃ ৫৮) |

তারা বলল, হে নূহ যদি তুমি বিরত না হও, তবে তুমি নিশ্চিতই প্রস্তরাঘাতে নিহত হবে।
They said: "If thou desist not, O Noah! thou shalt be stoned (to death)." |
(আশ-শো'আরা:
