আর যদি তোমরা ভয় কর যে, এতীম মেয়েদের হক যথাথভাবে পুরণ করতে পারবে না, তবে সেসব মেয়েদের মধ্যে থেকে যাদের ভাল লাগে তাদের বিয়ে করে নাও দুই, তিন, কিংবা চারটি পর্যন্ত। আর যদি এরূপ আশঙ্কা কর যে, তাদের মধ্যে ন্যায় সঙ্গত আচরণ বজায় রাখতে পারবে না, তবে, একটিই অথবা তোমাদের অধিকারভুক্ত দাসীদেরকে; এতেই পক্ষপাতিত্বে জড়িত না হওয়ার অধিকতর সম্ভাবনা।
If ye fear that ye shall not be able to deal justly with the orphans, Marry women of your choice, Two or three or four; but if ye fear that ye shall not be able to deal justly (with them), then only one, or (a captive) that your right hands possess, that will be more suitable, to prevent you from doing injustice. |

সমস্ত প্রশংসা আল্লাহর, যিনি আসমান ও যমীনের স্রষ্টা এবং ফেরেশতাগণকে করেছেন বার্তাবাহক-তারা দুই দুই, তিন তিন ও চার চার পাখাবিশিষ্ট। তিনি সৃষ্টি মধ্যে যা ইচ্ছা যোগ করেন। নিশ্চয় আল্লাহ সর্ববিষয়ে সক্ষম।
Praise be to Allah, Who created (out of nothing) the heavens and the earth, Who made the angels, messengers with wings,- two, or three, or four (pairs): He adds to Creation as He pleases: for Allah has power over all things. |
