আর তাদেরকে তাদের নবী বললেন, নিশ্চয়ই আল্লাহ তালূতকে তোমাদের জন্য বাদশাহ সাব্যস্ত করেছেন। তারা বলতে লাগল তা কেমন করে হয় যে, তার শাসন চলবে আমাদের উপর। অথচ রাষ্ট্রক্ষমতা পাওয়ার ক্ষেত্রে তার চেয়ে আমাদেরই অধিকার বেশী। আর সে সম্পদের দিক দিয়েও সচ্ছল নয়। নবী বললেন, নিশ্চয় আল্লাহ তোমাদের উপর তাকে পছন্দ করেছেন এবং স্বাস্থ্য ও জ্ঞানের দিক দিয়ে প্রাচুর্য দান করেছেন। বস্তুতঃ আল্লাহ তাকেই রাজ্য দান করেন, যাকে ইচ্ছা। আর আল্লাহ হলেন অনুগ্রহ দানকারী এবং সব বিষয়ে অবগত।
Their Prophet said to them: "Allah hath appointed Talut as king over you." They said: "How can he exercise authority over us when we are better fitted than he to exercise authority, and he is not even gifted, with wealth in abundance?" He said: "Allah hath Chosen him above you, and hath gifted him abundantly with knowledge and bodily prowess: Allah Granteth His authority to whom He pleaseth. Allah careth for all, and He knoweth all things." |

যাদেরকে লোকেরা বলেছে যে, তোমাদের সাথে মোকাবেলা করার জন্য লোকেরা সমাবেশ করেছে বহু সাজ-সরঞ্জাম; তাদের ভয় কর। তখন তাদের বিশ্বাস আরও দৃঢ়তর হয়ে যায় এবং তারা বলে, আমাদের জন্য আল্লাহই যথেষ্ট; কতই না চমৎকার কামিয়াবীদানকারী।
Men said to them: "A great army is gathering against you": And frightened them: But it (only) increased their Faith: They said: "For us Allah sufficeth, and He is the best disposer of affairs." |

তোমাদের আযাব দিয়ে আল্লাহ কি করবেন যদি তোমরা কৃতজ্ঞতা প্রকাশ কর এবং ঈমানের উপর প্রতিষ্ঠিত থাক! আর আল্লাহ হচ্ছেন সমুচিত মূল্যদানকারী সর্বজ্ঞ।
What can Allah gain by your punishment, if ye are grateful and ye believe? Nay, it is Allah that recogniseth (all good), and knoweth all things. |

কিন্তু যারা তাদের মধ্যে জ্ঞানপক্ক ও ঈমানদার, তারা তাও মান্য করে যা আপনার উপর অবতীর্ণ হয়েছে এবং যা অবতীর্ণ হয়েছে আপনার পূর্বে। আর যারা নামাযে অনুবর্তিতা পালনকারী, যারা যাকাত দানকারী এবং যারা আল্লাহ ও কেয়ামতে আস্থাশীল। বস্তুতঃ এমন লোকদেরকে আমি দান করবো মহাপুণ্য।
But those among them who are well-grounded in knowledge, and the believers, believe in what hath been revealed to thee and what was revealed before thee: And (especially) those who establish regular prayer and practise regular charity and believe in Allah and in the Last Day: To them shall We soon give a great reward. |

হে মুমিনগণ, তোমাদের মধ্যে যে স্বীয় ধর্ম থেকে ফিরে যাবে, অচিরে আল্লাহ এমন সম্প্রদায় সৃষ্টি করবেন, যাদেরকে তিনি ভালবাসবেন এবং তারা তাঁকে ভালবাসবে। তারা মুসলমানদের প্রতি বিনয়-নম্র হবে এবং কাফেরদের প্রতি কঠোর হবে। তারা আল্লাহর পথে জেহাদ করবে এবং কোন তিরস্কারকারীর তিরস্কারে ভীত হবে না। এটি আল্লাহর অনুগ্রহ-তিনি যাকে ইচ্ছা দান করেন। আল্লাহ প্রাচুর্য দানকারী, মহাজ্ঞানী।
O ye who believe! if any from among you turn back from his Faith, soon will Allah produce a people whom He will love as they will love Him,- lowly with the believers, mighty against the rejecters, fighting in the way of Allah, and never afraid of the reproaches of such as find fault. That is the grace of Allah, which He will bestow on whom He pleaseth. And Allah encompasseth all, and He knoweth all things. |

আর সে সময়ের কথা স্মরণ কর, যখন তোমার পালনকর্তা সংবাদ দিয়েছেন যে, অবশ্যই কেয়ামত দিবস পর্যন্ত ইহুদীদের উপর এমন লোক পাঠাতে থাকবেন যারা তাদেরকে নিকৃষ্ট শাস্তি দান করতে থাকবে। নিঃসন্দেহে তোমার পালনকর্তা শীঘ্র শাস্তি দানকারী এবং তিনি ক্ষমাশীল, দয়ালু।
Behold! thy Lord did declare that He would send against them, to the Day of Judgment, those who would afflict them with grievous penalty. Thy Lord is quick in retribution, but He is also Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful. |

তারা তওবাকারী, এবাদতকারী, শোকরগোযার, (দুনিয়ার সাথে) সম্পর্কচ্ছেদকারী, রুকু ও সিজদা আদায়কারী, সৎকাজের আদেশ দানকারী ও মন্দ কাজ থেকে নিবৃতকারী এবং আল্লাহর দেওয়া সীমাসমূহের হেফাযতকারী। বস্তুতঃ সুসংবাদ দাও ঈমানদারদেরকে।
Those that turn (to Allah) in repentance; that serve Him, and praise Him; that wander in devotion to the cause of Allah,: that bow down and prostrate themselves in prayer; that enjoin good and forbid evil; and observe the limit set by Allah;- (These do rejoice). So proclaim the glad tidings to the Believers. |
