তোমাদের যদি কোন মঙ্গল হয়; তাহলে তাদের খারাপ লাগে। আর তোমাদের যদি অমঙ্গল হয় তাহলে আনন্দিত হয় আর তাতে যদি তোমরা ধৈর্য্যধারণ কর এবং তাকওয়া অবলম্বন কর, তবে তাদের প্রতারণায় তোমাদের কোনই ক্ষতি হবে না। নিশ্চয়ই তারা যা কিছু করে সে সমস্তই আল্লাহর আয়ত্তে রয়েছে।
If aught that is good befalls you, it grieves them; but if some misfortune overtakes you, they rejoice at it. But if ye are constant and do right, not the least harm will their cunning do to you; for Allah Compasseth round about all that they do. |

তুমি কখনো সেখানে দাড়াবে না, তবে যে মসজিদের ভিত্তি রাখা হয়েছে তাকওয়ার উপর প্রথম দিন থেকে, সেটিই তোমার দাঁড়াবার যোগ্য স্থান। সেখানে রয়েছে এমন লোক, যারা পবিত্রতাকে ভালবাসে। আর আল্লাহ পবিত্র লোকদের ভালবাসেন।
Never stand thou forth therein. There is a mosque whose foundation was laid from the first day on piety; it is more worthy of the standing forth (for prayer) therein. In it are men who love to be purified; and Allah loveth those who make themselves pure. |

তারা বলল, তবে কি তুমিই ইউসুফ! বললেনঃ আমিই ইউসুফ এবং এ হল আমার সহোদর ভাই। আল্লাহ আমাদের প্রতি অনুগ্রহ করেছেন। নিশ্চয় যে তাকওয়া অবলম্বন করে এবং সবর করে, আল্লাহ এহেন সৎকর্মশীলদের প্রতিদান বিনষ্ট করেন না।
They said: "Art thou indeed Joseph?" He said, "I am Joseph, and this is my brother: Allah has indeed been gracious to us (all): behold, he that is righteous and patient,- never will Allah suffer the reward to be lost, of those who do right." |

এগুলোর গোশত ও রক্ত আল্লাহর কাছে পৌঁছে না, কিন্তু পৌঁছে তাঁর কাছে তোমাদের মনের তাকওয়া। এমনিভাবে তিনি এগুলোকে তোমাদের বশ করে দিয়েছেন, যাতে তোমরা আল্লাহর মহত্ত্ব ঘোষণা কর এ কারণে যে, তিনি তোমাদের পথ প্রদর্শন করেছেন। সুতরাং সৎকর্মশীলদের সুসংবাদ শুনিয়ে দিন।
It is not their meat nor their blood, that reaches Allah: it is your piety that reaches Him: He has thus made them subject to you, that ye may glorify Allah for His Guidance to you and proclaim the good news to all who do right. |

যারা সৎপথপ্রাপ্ত হয়েছে, তাদের সৎপথপ্রাপ্তি আরও বেড়ে যায় এবং আল্লাহ তাদেরকে তাকওয়া দান করেন।
But to those who receive Guidance, He increases the (light of) Guidance, and bestows on them their Piety and Restraint (from evil). |
