আপনি তাদেরকে জীবনের প্রতি সবার চাইতে, এমনকি মুশরিকদের চাইতেও অধিক লোভী দেখবেন। তাদের প্রত্যেকে কামনা করে, যেন হাজার বছর আয়ু পায়। অথচ এরূপ আয়ু প্রাপ্তি তাদেরকে শাস্তি থেকে রক্ষা করতে পারবে না। আল্লাহ দেখেন যা কিছু তারা করে।
Thou wilt indeed find them, of all people, most greedy of life,-even more than the idolaters: Each one of them wishes He could be given a life of a thousand years: But the grant of such life will not save him from (due) punishment. For Allah sees well all that they do. |

বলুন, আমি কি তোমাদেরকে এসবের চাইতেও উত্তম বিষয়ের সন্ধান বলবো?-যারা পরহেযগার, আল্লাহর নিকট তাদের জন্যে রয়েছে বেহেশত, যার তলদেশে প্রস্রবণ প্রবাহিত-তারা সেখানে থাকবে অনন্তকাল। আর রয়েছে পরিচ্ছন্ন সঙ্গিনীগণ এবং আল্লাহর সন্তুষ্টি। আর আল্লাহ তাঁর বান্দাদের প্রতি সুদৃষ্টি রাখেন।
Say: Shall I give you glad tidings of things Far better than those? For the righteous are Gardens in nearness to their Lord, with rivers flowing beneath; therein is their eternal home; with companions pure (and holy); and the good pleasure of Allah. For in Allah's sight are (all) His servants,- |

নভোমন্ডল ও ভূমন্ডলের গোপন রহস্য আল্লাহর কাছেই রয়েছে। কিয়ামতের ব্যাপারটি তো এমন, যেমন চোখের পলক অথবা তার চাইতেও নিকটবর্তী। নিশ্চয় আল্লাহ সব কিছুর উপর শক্তিমান।
To Allah belongeth the Mystery of the heavens and the earth. And the Decision of the Hour (of Judgment) is as the twingkling of an eye, or even quicker: for Allah hath power over all things. |

সে বললঃ দেখুন তো, এনা সে ব্যক্তি, যাকে আপনি আমার চাইতেও উচ্চ মার্যাদা দিয়ে দিয়েছেন। যদি আপনি আমাকে কেয়ামত দিবস পর্যন্ত সময় দেন, তবে আমি সামান্য সংখ্যক ছাড়া তার বংশধরদেরকে সমূলে নষ্ট করে দেব।
He said: "Seest Thou? this is the one whom Thou hast honoured above me! If Thou wilt but respite me to the Day of Judgment, I will surely bring his descendants under my sway - all but a few!" |

‘আল্লাহ ইচ্ছা করলে’ বলা ব্যতিরেকে। যখন ভুলে যান, তখন আপনার পালনকর্তাকে স্মরণ করুন এবং বলুনঃ আশা করি আমার পালনকর্তা আমাকে এর চাইতেও নিকটতম সত্যের পথ নির্দেশ করবেন।
Without adding, "So please Allah!" and call thy Lord to mind when thou forgettest, and say, "I hope that my Lord will guide me ever closer (even) than this to the right road." |

এবং স্মরণ করুন আইয়্যুবের কথা, যখন তিনি তাঁর পালনকর্তাকে আহবান করে বলেছিলেনঃ আমি দুঃখকষ্টে পতিত হয়েছি এবং আপনি দয়াবানদের চাইতেও সর্বশ্রেষ্ট দয়াবান।
And (remember) Job, when He cried to his Lord, "Truly distress has seized me, but Thou art the Most Merciful of those that are merciful." |
