আর আমি আদেশ করছি যে, আপনি তাদের পারস্পরিক ব্যাপারাদিতে আল্লাহ যা নাযিল করেছেন তদনুযায়ী ফয়সালা করুন; তাদের প্রবৃত্তির অনুসরণ করবেন না এবং তাদের থেকে সতর্ক থাকুন-যেন তারা আপনাকে এমন কোন নির্দেশ থেকে বিচ্যুত না করে, যা আল্লাহ আপনার প্রতি নাযিল করেছেন। অনন্তর যদি তার মুখ ফিরিয়ে নেয়, তবে জেনে নিন, আল্লাহ তাদেরকে তাদের গোনাহের কিছু শাস্তি দিতেই চেয়েছেন। মানুষের মধ্যে অনেকেই নাফরমান।
And this (He commands): Judge thou between them by what Allah hath revealed, and follow not their vain desires, but beware of them lest they beguile thee from any of that (teaching) which Allah hath sent down to thee. And if they turn away, be assured that for some of their crime it is Allah's purpose to punish them. And truly most men are rebellious. |

অতঃপর যদি জানা যায় যে, উভয় ওসি কোন গোনাহে জড়িত রয়েছে, তবে যাদের বিরুদ্ধে গোনাহ হয়েছিল, তাদের মধ্য থেকে মৃতু ব্যক্তির নিকটতম দু’ব্যক্তি তাদের স্থলাভিষিক্ত হবে। অতঃপর আল্লাহর নামে কসম খাবে যে, অবশ্যই আমাদের সাক্ষ্য তাদের সাক্ষ্যর চাইতে অধিক সত্য এবং আমরা সীমা অতিক্রম করিনি। এমতাবস্থায় আমরা অবশ্যই অত্যাচারী হব।
But if it gets known that these two were guilty of the sin (of perjury), let two others stand forth in their places,- nearest in kin from among those who claim a lawful right: let them swear by Allah: "We affirm that our witness is truer than that of those two, and that we have not trespassed (beyond the truth): if we did, behold! the wrong be upon us!" |

তারা কি দেশ-বিদেশ ভ্রমণ করে না, যাতে দেখত তাদের পূর্বসুরিদের কি পরিণাম হয়েছে? তাদের শক্তি ও কীর্তি পৃথিবীতে এদের অপেক্ষা অধিকতর ছিল। অতঃপর আল্লাহ তাদেরকে তাদের গোনাহের কারণে ধৃত করেছিলেন এবং আল্লাহ থেকে তাদেরকে রক্ষাকারী কেউ হয়নি।
Do they not travel through the earth and see what was the End of those before them? They were even superior to them in strength, and in the traces (they have left) in the land: but Allah did call them to account for their sins, and none had they to defend them against Allah. |

অতএব, আপনি সবর করুন নিশ্চয় আল্লাহর ওয়াদা সত্য। আপনি আপনার গোনাহের জন্যে ক্ষমা প্রর্থনা করুন এবং সকাল-সন্ধ্যায় আপনার পালনকর্তার প্রশংসাসহ পবিত্রতা বর্ণনা করুন।
Patiently, then, persevere: for the Promise of Allah is true: and ask forgiveness for thy fault, and celebrate the Praises of thy Lord in the evening and in the morning. |
