নিশ্চয়ই আমি আপনাকে বার বার আকাশের দিকে তাকাতে দেখি। অতএব, অবশ্যই আমি আপনাকে সে কেবলার দিকেই ঘুরিয়ে দেব যাকে আপনি পছন্দ করেন। এখন আপনি মসজিদুল-হারামের দিকে মুখ করুন এবং তোমরা যেখানেই থাক, সেদিকে মুখ কর। যারা আহলে-কিতাব, তারা অবশ্যই জানে যে, এটাই ঠিক পালনকর্তার পক্ষ থেকে। আল্লাহ বেখবর নন, সে সমস্ত কর্ম সম্পর্কে যা তারা করে।
We see the turning of thy face (for guidance to the heavens: now Shall We turn thee to a Qibla that shall please thee. Turn then Thy face in the direction of the sacred Mosque: Wherever ye are, turn your faces in that direction. The people of the Book know well that that is the truth from their Lord. Nor is Allah unmindful of what they do. |

সকল মানুষ একই জাতি সত্তার অন্তর্ভুক্ত ছিল। অতঃপর আল্লাহ তা’আলা পয়গম্বর পাঠালেন সুসংবাদদাতা ও ভীতি প্রদর্শনকরী হিসাবে। আর তাঁদের সাথে অবর্তীণ করলেন সত্য কিতাব, যাতে মানুষের মাঝে বিতর্কমূলক বিষয়ে মীমাংসা করতে পারেন। বস্তুতঃ কিতাবের ব্যাপারে অন্য কেউ মতভেদ করেনি; কিন্তু পরিষ্কার নির্দেশ এসে যাবার পর নিজেদের পারস্পরিক জেদবশতঃ তারাই করেছে, যারা কিতাব প্রাপ্ত হয়েছিল। অতঃপর আল্লাহ ঈমানদারদেরকে হেদায়েত করেছেন সেই সত্য বিষয়ে, যে ব্যাপারে তারা মতভেদ লিপ্ত হয়েছিল। আল্লাহ যাকে ইচ্ছা, সরল পথ বাতলে দেন।
Mankind was one single nation, and Allah sent Messengers with glad tidings and warnings; and with them He sent the Book in truth, to judge between people in matters wherein they differed; but the People of the Book, after the clear Signs came to them, did not differ among themselves, except through selfish contumacy. Allah by His Grace Guided the believers to the Truth, concerning that wherein they differed. For Allah guided whom He will to a path that is straight. |

আর তাকে তিনি শিখিয়ে দেবেন কিতাব, হিকমত, তওরাত, ইঞ্জিল।
"And Allah will teach him the Book and Wisdom, the Law and the Gospel, |
(আল ইমরান:
আয়াতঃ ৪৮) |

কোন মানুষকে আল্লাহ কিতাব, হেকমত ও নবুওয়ত দান করার পর সে বলবে যে, ‘তোমরা আল্লাহকে পরিহার করে আমার বান্দা হয়ে যাও’-এটা সম্ভব নয়। বরং তারা বলবে, ‘তোমরা আল্লাহওয়ালা হয়ে যাও, যেমন, তোমরা কিতাব শিখাতে এবং যেমন তোমরা নিজেরা ও পড়তে।
It is not (possible) that a man, to whom is given the Book, and Wisdom, and the prophetic office, should say to people: "Be ye my worshippers rather than Allah's": on the contrary (He would say) "Be ye worshippers of Him Who is truly the Cherisher of all: For ye have taught the Book and ye have studied it earnestly." |

আলিফ, লা-ম, রা; এটি এমন এক কিতাব, যার আয়াত সমূহ সুপ্রতিষ্ঠিত অতঃপর সবিস্তারে বর্ণিত এক মহাজ্ঞানী, সর্বজ্ঞ সত্তার পক্ষ হতে।
A. L. R. (This is) a Book, with verses basic or fundamental (of established meaning), further explained in detail,- from One Who is Wise and Well-acquainted (with all things): |

আমি প্রত্যেক মানুষের কর্মকে তার গ্রীবলগ্ন করে রেখেছি। কেয়ামতের দিন বের করে দেখাব তাকে একটি কিতাব, যা সে খোলা অবস্থায় পাবে।
Every man's fate We have fastened on his own neck: On the Day of Judgment We shall bring out for him a scroll, which he will see spread open. |
(বনী ইসরাঈল:

এটি একটি বরকতময় কিতাব, যা আমি আপনার প্রতি বরকত হিসেবে অবতীর্ণ করেছি, যাতে মানুষ এর আয়াতসূহ লক্ষ্য করে এবং বুদ্ধিমানগণ যেন তা অনুধাবন করে।
(Here is) a Book which We have sent down unto thee, full of blessings, that they may mediate on its Signs, and that men of understanding may receive admonition. |

এটা কিতাব, এর আয়াতসমূহ বিশদভাবে বিবৃত আরবী কোরআনরূপে জ্ঞানী লোকদের জন্য।
A Book, whereof the verses are explained in detail;- a Qur'an in Arabic, for people who understand;- |

আমি বনী ইসরাঈলকে কিতাব, রাজত্ব ও নবুওয়ত দান করেছিলাম এবং তাদেরকে পরিচ্ছন্ন রিযিক দিয়েছিলাম এবং বিশ্ববাসীর উপর শ্রেষ্ঠত্ব দিয়েছিলাম।
We did aforetime grant to the Children of Israel the Book the Power of Command, and Prophethood; We gave them, for Sustenance, things good and pure; and We favoured them above the nations. |
