পক্ষান্তরে তোমাদের প্রতি আল্লাহর পক্ষ থেকে কোন অনুগ্রহ আসলে তারা এমন ভাবে বলতে শুরু করবে যেন তোমাদের মধ্যে এবং তাদের মধ্যে কোন মিত্রতাই ছিল না। (বলবে) হায়, আমি যদি তাদের সাথে থাকতাম, তাহলে আমি ও যে সফলতা লাভ করতাম।
But if good fortune comes to you from Allah, they would be sure to say - as if there had never been Ties of affection between you and them - "Oh! I wish I had been with them; a fine thing should I then have made of it!" |

আর যদি আহলে-কিতাবরা বিশ্বাস স্থাপন করত এবং খোদাভীতি অবলম্বন করত, তবে আমি তাদের মন্দ বিষয়সমূহ ক্ষমা করে দিতাম এবং তাদেরকে নেয়ামতের উদ্যানসমূহে প্রবিষ্ট করতাম।
If only the People of the Book had believed and been righteous, We should indeed have blotted out their iniquities and admitted them to gardens of bliss. |
(আল মায়িদাহ:

এখন মুশরেকরা বলবেঃ যদি আল্লাহ ইচ্ছা করতেন, তবে না আমরা শিরক করতাম, না আমাদের বাপ দাদারা এবং না আমরা কোন বস্তুকে হারাম করতাম। এমনিভাবে তাদের পূর্ববর্তীরা মিথ্যারোপ করেছে, এমন কি তারা আমার শাস্তি আস্বাদন করেছে। আপনি বলুনঃ তোমাদের কাছে কি কোন প্রমাণ আছে যা আমাদেরকে দেখাতে পার। তোমরা শুধুমাত্র আন্দাজের অনুসরণ কর এবং তোমরা শুধু অনুমান করে কথা বল।
Those who give partners (to Allah) will say: "If Allah had wished, we should not have given partners to Him nor would our fathers; nor should we have had any taboos." So did their ancestors argue falsely, until they tasted of Our wrath. Say: "Have ye any (certain) knowledge? If so, produce it before us. Ye follow nothing but conjecture: ye do nothing but lie." |

তারা বলল-হে শোয়ায়েব (আঃ) আপনি যা বলেছেন তার অনেক কথাই আমরা বুঝি নাই, আমারা তো আপনাকে আমাদের মধ্যে দূর্বল ব্যক্তি রূপে মনে করি। আপনার ভাই বন্ধুরা না থাকলে আমরা আপনাকে প্রস্তরাঘাতে হত্যা করতাম। আমাদের দৃষ্টিতে আপনি কোন মর্যাদাবান ব্যক্তি নন।
They said: "O Shu'aib! much of what thou sayest we do not understand! In fact among us we see that thou hast no strength! Were it not for thy family, we should certainly have stoned thee! for thou hast among us no great position!" |

আপনার পূর্বে আমি যতজনকে রসূল করে পাঠিয়েছি, তারা সবাই পুরুষই ছিল জনপদবাসীদের মধ্য থেকে। আমি তাঁদের কাছে ওহী প্রেরণ করতাম। তারা কি দেশ-বিদেশ ভ্রমণ করে না, যাতে দেখে নিত কিরূপ পরিণতি হয়েছে তাদের যারা পূর্বে ছিল ? সংযমকারীদের জন্যে পরকালের আবাসই উত্তম। তারা কি এখনও বোঝে না?
Nor did We send before thee (as messengers) any but men, whom we did inspire,- (men) living in human habitations. Do they not travel through the earth, and see what was the end of those before them? But the home of the hereafter is best, for those who do right. Will ye not then understand? |

বলুনঃ যদি পৃথিবীতে ফেরেশতারা স্বচ্ছন্দে বিচরণ করত, তবে আমি আকাশ থেকে কোন ফেরেশতাকেই তাদের নিকট পয়গাম্বর করে প্রেরণ করতাম।
Say, "If there were settled, on earth, angels walking about in peace and quiet, We should certainly have sent them down from the heavens an angel for a messenger." |
(বনী ইসরাঈল:

অতঃপর তার সব ফল ধ্বংস হয়ে গেল এবং সে তাতে যা ব্যয় করেছিল, তার জন্য সকালে হাত কচলিয়ে আক্ষেপ করতে লাগল। বাগনটি কাঠসহ পুড়ে গিয়েছিল। সে বলতে লাগলঃ হায়, আমি যদি কাউকে আমার পালনকর্তার সাথে শরীক না করতাম।
So his fruits (and enjoyment) were encompassed (with ruin), and he remained twisting and turning his hands over what he had spent on his property, which had (now) tumbled to pieces to its very foundations, and he could only say, "Woe is me! Would I had never ascribed partners to my Lord and Cherisher!" |
(কাহফ:
আয়াতঃ ৪২) |

জালেম সেদিন আপন হস্তদ্বয় দংশন করতে করতে বলবে, হায় আফসোস! আমি যদি রসূলের সাথে পথ অবলম্বন করতাম।
The Day that the wrong-doer will bite at his hands, he will say, "Oh! would that I had taken a (straight) path with the Messenger! |
(আল-ফুরকান:
আয়াতঃ ২৭) |

হায় আমার দূর্ভাগ্য, আমি যদি অমুককে বন্ধুরূপে গ্রহণ না করতাম।
"Ah! woe is me! Would that I had never taken such a one for a friend! |
(আল-ফুরকান:
আয়াতঃ ২৮) |
| 10 |
যখন আমরা তোমাদেরকে বিশ্ব-পালনকর্তার সমতুল্য গন্য করতাম।
"'When we held you as equals with the Lord of the Worlds; |
(আশ-শো'আরা:
আয়াতঃ ৯৮) |
| 11 |
যেদিন অগ্নিতে তাদের মুখমন্ডল ওলট পালট করা হবে; সেদিন তারা বলবে, হায়। আমরা যদি আল্লাহর আনুগত্য করতাম ও রসূলের আনুগত্য করতাম।
The Day that their faces will be turned upside down in the Fire, they will say: "Woe to us! Would that we had obeyed Allah and obeyed the Messenger!" |
(আল আহযাব:
আয়াতঃ ৬৬) |

আমার কাছে রক্ষিত এই আমলনামা তোমাদের সম্পর্কে সত্য কথা বলবে। তোমরা যা করতে আমি তা লিপিবদ্ধ করতাম।
"This Our Record speaks about you with truth: For We were wont to put on Record all that ye did." |
(আল জাসিয়া:
আয়াতঃ ২৯) |

আর এই প্রত্যাদেশ করা হয়েছে যে, তারা যদি সত্যপথে কায়েম থাকত, তবে আমি তাদেরকে প্রচুর পানি বর্ষণে সিক্ত করতাম।
(And Allah's Message is): "If they (the Pagans) had (only) remained on the (right) Way, We should certainly have bestowed on them Rain in abundance. |
(আল জিন:
আয়াতঃ ১৬) |

আমরা সমালোচকদের সাথে সমালোচনা করতাম।
"But we used to talk vanities with vain talkers; |
(আল মুদ্দাসসির:
আয়াতঃ ৪৫) |
| 15 |
এবং আমরা প্রতিফল দিবসকে অস্বীকার করতাম।
"And we used to deny the Day of Judgment, |
(আল মুদ্দাসসির:
