আর সবার জন্যই রয়েছে কেবলা একেক দিকে, যে দিকে সে মুখ করে (এবাদত করবে)। কাজেই সৎকাজে প্রতিযোগিতামূলকভাবে এগিয়ে যাও। যেখানেই তোমরা থাকবে, আল্লাহ অবশ্যই তোমাদেরকে সমবেত করবেন। নিশ্চয়ই আল্লাহ সর্ব বিষয়ে ক্ষমতাশীল।
To each is a goal to which Allah turns him; then strive together (as in a race) Towards all that is good. Wheresoever ye are, Allah will bring you Together. For Allah Hath power over all things. |

প্রত্যেক সম্প্রদায়ের একটি মেয়াদ রয়েছে। যখন তাদের মেয়াদ এসে যাবে, তখন তারা না এক মুহুর্ত পিছে যেতে পারবে, আর না এগিয়ে আসতে পারবে।
To every people is a term appointed: when their term is reached, not an hour can they cause delay, nor (an hour) can they advance (it in anticipation). |

তারপর যখন তারা এগিয়ে যেতে লাগল সে কর্মে যা থেকে তাদের বারণ করা হয়েছিল, তখন আমি নির্দেশ দিলাম যে, তোমরা লাঞ্ছিত বানর হয়ে যাও।
When in their insolence they transgressed (all) prohibitions, We said to them: "Be ye apes, despised and rejected." |

অতঃপর আমি কিতাবের অধিকারী করেছি তাদেরকে যাদেরকে আমি আমার বান্দাদের মধ্য থেকে মনোনীত করেছি। তাদের কেউ কেউ নিজের প্রতি অত্যাচারী, কেউ মধ্যপন্থা অবলম্বনকারী এবং তাদের মধ্যে কেউ কেউ আল্লাহর নির্দেশক্রমে কল্যাণের পথে এগিয়ে গেছে। এটাই মহা অনুগ্রহ।
Then We have given the Book for inheritance to such of Our Servants as We have chosen: but there are among them some who wrong their own souls; some who follow a middle course; and some who are, by Allah's leave, foremost in good deeds; that is the highest Grace. |

আর কাফেররা মুমিনদের বলতে লাগল যে, যদি এ দ্বীন ভাল হত তবে এরা আমাদেরকে পেছনে ফেলে এগিয়ে যেতে পারত না। তারা যখন এর মাধ্যমে সুপথ পায়নি, তখন শীঘ্রই বলবে, এ তো এক পুরাতন মিথ্যা।
The Unbelievers say of those who believe: "If (this Message) were a good thing, (such men) would not have gone to it first, before us!" And seeing that they guide not themselves thereby, they will say, "this is an (old,) falsehood!" |
