তোমাদের কি এই ধারণা যে, তোমরা জান্নাতে চলে যাবে, অথচ সে লোকদের অবস্থা অতিক্রম করনি যারা তোমাদের পূর্বে অতীত হয়েছে। তাদের উপর এসেছে বিপদ ও কষ্ট। আর এমনি ভাবে শিহরিত হতে হয়েছে যাতে নবী ও তাঁর প্রতি যারা ঈমান এনেছিল তাদেরকে পর্যন্ত একথা বলতে হয়েছে যে, কখন আসবে আল্লাহর সাহায্যে! তোমরা শোনে নাও, আল্লাহর সাহায্যে একান্তই নিকটবর্তী।
Or do ye think that ye shall enter the Garden (of bliss) without such (trials) as came to those who passed away before you? they encountered suffering and adversity, and were so shaken in spirit that even the Messenger and those of faith who were with him cried: "When (will come) the help of Allah?" Ah! Verily, the help of Allah is (always) near! |

তারপর ঈমানদাররা আল্লাহর হুকুমে জালূতের বাহিনীকে পরাজিত করে দিল এবং দাউদ জালূতকে হত্যা করল। আর আল্লাহ দাউদকে দান করলেন রাজ্য ও অভিজ্ঞতা। আর তাকে যা চাইলেন শিখালেন। আল্লাহ যদি একজনকে অপরজনের দ্বারা প্রতিহত না করতেন, তাহলে গোটা দুনিয়া বিধ্বস্ত হয়ে যেতো। কিন্তু বিশ্ববাসীর প্রতি আল্লাহ একান্তই দয়ালু, করুণাময়।
By Allah's will they routed them; and David slew Goliath; and Allah gave him power and wisdom and taught him whatever (else) He willed. And did not Allah Check one set of people by means of another, the earth would indeed be full of mischief: But Allah is full of bounty to all the worlds. |

আল্লাহ তাদেরকে নিজের অনুগ্রহে যা দান করেছেন তাতে যারা কৃপণতা করে এই কার্পন্য তাদের জন্য মঙ্গলকর হবে বলে তারা যেন ধারণা না করে। বরং এটা তাদের পক্ষে একান্তই ক্ষতিকর প্রতিপন্ন হবে। যাতে তারা কার্পন্য করে সে সমস্ত ধন-সম্পদকে কিয়ামতের দিন তাদের গলায় বেড়ী বানিয়ে পরানো হবে। আর আল্লাহ হচ্ছেন আসমান ও যমীনের পরম সত্ত্বাধিকারী। আর যা কিছু তোমরা কর; আল্লাহ সে সম্পর্কে জানেন।
And let not those who covetously withhold of the gifts which Allah Hath given them of His Grace, think that it is good for them: Nay, it will be the worse for them: soon shall the things which they covetously withheld be tied to their necks Like a twisted collar, on the Day of Judgment. To Allah belongs the heritage of the heavens and the earth; and Allah is well-acquainted with all that ye do. |

কিন্তু যারা ভয় করে নিজেদের পালনকর্তাকে তাদের জন্যে রয়েছে জান্নাত যার তলদেশে প্রবাহিত রয়েছে প্রস্রবণ। তাতে আল্লাহর পক্ষ থেকে সদা আপ্যায়ন চলতে থাকবে। আর যা আল্লাহর নিকট রয়েছে, তা সৎকর্মশীলদের জন্যে একান্তই উত্তম।
On the other hand, for those who fear their Lord, are Gardens, with rivers flowing beneath; therein are they to dwell (for ever),- a gift from the presence of Allah; and that which is in the presence of Allah is the best (bliss) for the righteous. |

যারা ঈমানদার তারা যে, জেহাদ করে আল্লাহর রাহেই। পক্ষান্তরে যারা কাফের তারা লড়াই করে শয়তানের পক্ষে সুতরাং তোমরা জেহাদ করতে থাক শয়তানের পক্ষালম্বনকারীদের বিরুদ্ধে, (দেখবে) শয়তানের চক্রান্ত একান্তই দুর্বল।
Those who believe fight in the cause of Allah, and those who reject Faith Fight in the cause of Evil: So fight ye against the friends of Satan: feeble indeed is the cunning of Satan. |

বললেন, তাকে ততক্ষণ তোমাদের সাথে পাঠাব না, যতক্ষণ তোমরা আমাকে আল্লাহর নামে অঙ্গীকার না দাও যে, তাকে অবশ্যই আমার কাছে পৌঁছে দেবে; কিন্তু যদি তোমরা সবাই একান্তই অসহায় না হয়ে যাও। অতঃপর যখন সবাই তাঁকে অঙ্গীকার দিল, তখন তিনি বললেনঃ আমাদের মধ্যে যা কথাবার্তা হলো সে ব্যাপারে আল্লাহই মধ্যস্থ রইলেন।
(Jacob) said: "Never will I send him with you until ye swear a solemn oath to me, in Allah's name, that ye will be sure to bring him back to me unless ye are yourselves hemmed in (and made powerless). And when they had sworn their solemn oath, he said: "Over all that we say, be Allah the witness and guardian!" |
