আপনি তাদেরকে জীবনের প্রতি সবার চাইতে, এমনকি মুশরিকদের চাইতেও অধিক লোভী দেখবেন। তাদের প্রত্যেকে কামনা করে, যেন হাজার বছর আয়ু পায়। অথচ এরূপ আয়ু প্রাপ্তি তাদেরকে শাস্তি থেকে রক্ষা করতে পারবে না। আল্লাহ দেখেন যা কিছু তারা করে।
Thou wilt indeed find them, of all people, most greedy of life,-even more than the idolaters: Each one of them wishes He could be given a life of a thousand years: But the grant of such life will not save him from (due) punishment. For Allah sees well all that they do. |

বরং আমি তাদেরকে এবং তাদের বাপ-দাদাকে ভোগসম্বার দিয়েছিলাম, এমনকি তাদের আয়ুস্কালও দীর্ঘ হয়েছিল। তারা কি দেখে না যে, আমি তাদের দেশকে চতুর্দিক থেকে হ্রাস করে আনছি। এরপরও কি তারা বিজয়ী হবে?
Nay, We gave the good things of this life to these men and their fathers until the period grew long for them; See they not that We gradually reduce the land (in their control) from its outlying borders? Is it then they who will win? |
