মানবকূলকে মোহগ্রস্ত করেছে নারী, সন্তান-সন্ততি, রাশিকৃত স্বর্ণ-রৌপ্য, চিহ্নিত অশ্ব, গবাদি পশুরাজি এবং ক্ষেত-খামারের মত আকর্ষণীয় বস্তুসামগ্রী। এসবই হচ্ছে পার্থিব জীবনের ভোগ্য বস্তু। আল্লাহর নিকটই হলো উত্তম আশ্রয়।
Fair in the eyes of men is the love of things they covet: Women and sons; Heaped-up hoards of gold and silver; horses branded (for blood and excellence); and (wealth of) cattle and well-tilled land. Such are the possessions of this world's life; but in nearness to Allah is the best of the goals (To return to). |

যদি তোমাদের সাথে তারা বের হত, তবে তোমাদের অনিষ্ট ছাড়া আর কিছু বৃদ্ধি করতো না, আর অশ্ব ছুটাতো তোমাদের মধ্যে বিভেদ সৃষ্টির উদ্দেশে। আর তোমাদের মাঝে রয়েছে তাদের গুপ্তচর। বস্তুতঃ আল্লাহ যালিমদের ভালভাবেই জানেন।
If they had come out with you, they would not have added to your (strength) but only (made for) disorder, hurrying to and fro in your midst and sowing sedition among you, and there would have been some among you who would have listened to them. But Allah knoweth well those who do wrong. |

তুই সত্যচ্যুত করে তাদের মধ্য থেকে যাকে পারিস স্বীয় আওয়ায দ্বারা, স্বীয় অশ্বারোহী ও পদাতিক বাহিনী নিয়ে তাদেরকে আক্রমণ কর, তাদের অর্থ-সম্পদ ও সন্তান-সন্ততিতে শরীক হয়ে যা এবং তাদেরকে প্রতিশ্রুতি দে। ছলনা ছাড়া শয়তান তাদেরকে কোন প্রতিশ্রুতি দেয় না।
"Lead to destruction those whom thou canst among them, with thy (seductive) voice; make assaults on them with thy cavalry and thy infantry; mutually share with them wealth and children; and make promises to them." But Satan promises them nothing but deceit. |

যখন তার সামনে অপরাহ্নে উৎকৃষ্ট অশ্বরাজি পেশ করা হল,
Behold, there were brought before him, at eventide coursers of the highest breeding, and swift of foot; |

শপথ উর্ধ্বশ্বাসে চলমান অশ্বসমূহের,
By the (Steeds) that run, with panting (breath), |

অতঃপর ক্ষুরাঘাতে অগ্নিবিচ্ছুরক অশ্বসমূহের
And strike sparks of fire, |

অতঃপর প্রভাতকালে আক্রমণকারী অশ্বসমূহের
And push home the charge in the morning, |
