যদি তারা তওরাত, ইঞ্জিল এবং যা প্রতিপালকের পক্ষ থেকে তাদের প্রতি অবতীর্ণ হয়েছে, পুরোপুরি পালন করত, তবে তারা উপর থেকে এবং পায়ের নীচ থেকে ভক্ষণ করত। তাদের কিছুসংখ্যক লোক সৎপথের অনুগামী এবং অনেকেই মন্দ কাজ করে যাচ্ছে।
If only they had stood fast by the Law, the Gospel, and all the revelation that was sent to them from their Lord, they would have enjoyed happiness from every side. There is from among them a party on the right course: but many of them follow a course that is evil. |

যেদিন আল্লাহ সবাইকে একত্রিত করবেন, হে জিন সম্প্রদায়, তোমরা মানুষদের মধ্যে অনেককে অনুগামী করে নিয়েছ। তাদের মানব বন্ধুরা বলবেঃ হে আমাদের পালনকর্তা, আমরা পরস্পরে পরস্পরের মাধ্যমে ফল লাভ করেছি। আপনি আমাদের জন্যে যে সময় নির্ধারণ করেছিলেন, আমরা তাতে উপনীত হয়েছি। আল্লাহ বলবেনঃ আগুন হল তোমাদের বাসস্থান। তথায় তোমরা চিরকাল অবস্থান করবে; কিন্তু যখন চাইবেন আল্লাহ। নিশ্চয় আপনার পালনকর্তা প্রজ্ঞাময়, মহাজ্ঞানী।
One day will He gather them all together, (and say): "O ye assembly of Jinns! Much (toll) did ye take of men." Their friends amongst men will say: "Our Lord! we made profit from each other: but (alas!) we reached our term - which thou didst appoint for us." He will say: "The Fire be your dwelling-place: you will dwell therein for ever, except as Allah willeth." for thy Lord is full of wisdom and knowledge. |

নিশ্চয় তোমাদের প্রতিপালক আল্লাহ। তিনি নভোমন্ডল ও ভূমন্ডলকে ছয় দিনে সৃষ্টি করেছেন। অতঃপর আরশের উপর অধিষ্টিত হয়েছেন। তিনি পরিয়ে দেন রাতের উপর দিনকে এমতাবস্থায় যে, দিন দৌড়ে রাতের পিছনে আসে। তিনি সৃষ্টি করেছেন সূর্য, চন্দ্র ও নক্ষত্র দৌড় স্বীয় আদেশের অনুগামী। শুনে রেখ, তাঁরই কাজ সৃষ্টি করা এবং আদেশ দান করা। আল্লাহ, বরকতময় যিনি বিশ্বজগতের প্রতিপালক।
Your Guardian-Lord is Allah, Who created the heavens and the earth in six days, and is firmly established on the throne (of authority): He draweth the night as a veil o'er the day, each seeking the other in rapid succession: He created the sun, the moon, and the stars, (all) governed by laws under His command. Is it not His to create and to govern? Blessed be Allah, the Cherisher and Sustainer of the worlds! |

অবশ্য আমি ইচ্ছা করলে তার মর্যাদা বাড়িয়ে দিতাম সে সকল নিদর্শনসমূহের দৌলতে। কিন্তু সে যে অধঃপতিত এবং নিজের রিপুর অনুগামী হয়ে রইল। সুতরাং তার অবস্থা হল কুকুরের মত; যদি তাকে তাড়া কর তবুও হাঁপাবে আর যদি ছেড়ে দাও তবুও হাঁপাবে। এ হল সেসব লোকের উদাহরণ; যারা মিথ্যা প্রতিপন্ন করেছে আমার নিদর্শনসমূহকে। অতএব, আপনি বিবৃত করুন এসব কাহিনী, যাতে তারা চিন্তা করে।
If it had been Our will, We should have elevated him with Our signs; but he inclined to the earth, and followed his own vain desires. His similitude is that of a dog: if you attack him, he lolls out his tongue, or if you leave him alone, he (still) lolls out his tongue. That is the similitude of those who reject Our signs; So relate the story; perchance they may reflect. |

আল্লাহ বলেনঃ চলে যা, অতঃপর তাদের মধ্য থেকে যে তোর অনুগামী হবে, জাহান্নামই হবে তাদের সবার শাস্তি-ভরপুর শাস্তি।
(Allah) said: "Go thy way; if any of them follow thee, verily Hell will be the recompense of you (all)- an ample recompense. |

আমি পর্বতমালাকে তার অনুগামী করে দিয়েছিলাম, তারা সকাল-সন্ধ্যায় তার সাথে পবিত্রতা ঘোষণা করত;
It was We that made the hills declare, in unison with him, Our Praises, at eventide and at break of day, |

যারা ঈমানদার এবং যাদের সন্তানরা ঈমানে তাদের অনুগামী, আমি তাদেরকে তাদের পিতৃপুরুষদের সাথে মিলিত করে দেব এবং তাদের আমল বিন্দুমাত্রও হ্রাস করব না। প্রত্যেক ব্যক্তি নিজ কৃত কর্মের জন্য দায়ী।
And those who believe and whose families follow them in Faith,- to them shall We join their families: Nor shall We deprive them (of the fruit) of aught of their works: (Yet) is each individual in pledge for his deeds. |

অতঃপর আমি তাদের পশ্চাতে প্রেরণ করেছি আমার রসূলগণকে এবং তাদের অনুগামী করেছি মরিয়ম তনয় ঈসাকে ও তাকে দিয়েছি ইঞ্জিল। আমি তার অনুসারীদের অন্তরে স্থাপন করেছি নম্রতা ও দয়া। আর বৈরাগ্য, সে তো তারা নিজেরাই উদ্ভাবন করেছে; আমি এটা তাদের উপর ফরজ করিনি; কিন্তু তারা আল্লাহর সন্তুষ্টি লাভের জন্যে এটা অবলম্বন করেছে। অতঃপর তারা যথাযথভাবে তা পালন করেনি। তাদের মধ্যে যারা বিশ্বাসী ছিল, আমি তাদেরকে তাদের প্রাপ্য পুরস্কার দিয়েছি। আর তাদের অধিকাংশই পাপাচারী।
Then, in their wake, We followed them up with (others of) Our messengers: We sent after them Jesus the son of Mary, and bestowed on him the Gospel; and We ordained in the hearts of those who followed him Compassion and Mercy. But the Monasticism which they invented for themselves, We did not prescribe for them: (We commanded) only the seeking for the Good Pleasure of Allah; but that they did not foster as they should have done. Yet We bestowed, on those among them who believed, their (due) reward, but many of them are rebellious transgressors. |
