কি আশ্চর্য, যখন তারা কোন অঙ্গীকারে আবদ্ধ হয়, তখন তাদের একদল তা ছুঁড়ে ফেলে, বরং অধিকাংশই বিশ্বাস করে না।
Is it not (the case) that every time they make a covenant, some party among them throw it aside?- Nay, Most of them are faithless. |

তুমি কি তাদেরকে দেখনি, যারা মৃত্যুর ভয়ে নিজেদের ঘর ছেড়ে বেরিয়ে গিয়েছিলেন? অথচ তারা ছিল হাজার হাজার। তারপর আল্লাহ তাদেরকে বললেন মরে যাও। তারপর তাদেরকে জীবিত করে দিলেন। নিশ্চয়ই আল্লাহ মানুষের উপর অনুগ্রহকারী। কিন্তু অধিকাংশ লোক শুকরিয়া প্রকাশ করে না।
Didst thou not Turn by vision to those who abandoned their homes, though they were thousands (In number), for fear of death? Allah said to them: "Die": Then He restored them to life. For Allah is full of bounty to mankind, but Most of them are ungrateful. |

তোমরাই হলে সর্বোত্তম উম্মত, মানবজাতির কল্যানের জন্যেই তোমাদের উদ্ভব ঘটানো হয়েছে। তোমরা সৎকাজের নির্দেশ দান করবে ও অন্যায় কাজে বাধা দেবে এবং আল্লাহর প্রতি ঈমান আনবে। আর আহলে-কিতাবরা যদি ঈমান আনতো, তাহলে তা তাদের জন্য মঙ্গলকর হতো। তাদের মধ্যে কিছু তো রয়েছে ঈমানদার আর অধিকাংশই হলো পাপাচারী।
Ye are the best of peoples, evolved for mankind, enjoining what is right, forbidding what is wrong, and believing in Allah. If only the People of the Book had faith, it were best for them: among them are some who have faith, but most of them are perverted transgressors. |

তাদের অধিকাংশ সলা-পরামর্শ ভাল নয়; কিন্তু যে সলা-পরামর্শ দান খয়রাত করতে কিংবা সৎকাজ করতে কিংবা মানুষের মধ্যে সন্ধিস্থাপন কল্পে করতো তা স্বতন্ত্র। যে একাজ করে আল্লাহর সন্তুষ্টির জন্যে আমি তাকে বিরাট ছওয়াব দান করব।
In most of their secret talks there is no good: But if one exhorts to a deed of charity or justice or conciliation between men, (Secrecy is permissible): To him who does this, seeking the good pleasure of Allah, We shall soon give a reward of the highest (value). |

বলুনঃ হে আহলে কিতাবগণ, আমাদের সাথে তোমাদের এছাড়া কি শত্রুতা যে, আমরা বিশ্বাস স্থাপন করেছি আল্লাহর প্রতি, আমাদের উপর অবতীর্ণ গ্রন্থের প্রতি এবং পূর্বে অবতীর্ণ গ্রন্থের প্রতি। আর তোমাদের অধিকাংশই নাফরমান।
Say: "O people of the Book! Do ye disapprove of us for no other reason than that we believe in Allah, and the revelation that hath come to us and that which came before (us), and (perhaps) that most of you are rebellious and disobedient?" |
(আল মায়িদাহ:
আয়াতঃ ৫৯) |

তারা ধারণা করেছে যে, কোন অনিষ্ট হবে না। ফলে তারা আরও অন্ধ ও বধির হয়ে গেল। অতঃপর আল্লাহ তাদের তওবা কবুল করলেন। এরপরও তাদের অধিকাংশই অন্ধ ও বধির হয়ে রইল। আল্লাহ দেখেন তারা যা কিছু করে।
They thought there would be no trial (or punishment); so they became blind and deaf; yet Allah (in mercy) turned to them; yet again many of them became blind and deaf. But Allah sees well all that they do. |
(আল মায়িদাহ:

আল্লাহ ‘বহিরা’ ‘সায়েবা’ ওসীলা’ এবং ‘হামী’ কে শরীয়তসিদ্ধ করেননি। কিন্তু যারা কাফের, তারা আল্লাহর উপর মিথ্যা অপবাদ আরোপ করে। তাদের অধিকাংশেরই বিবেক বুদ্ধি নেই।
It was not Allah who instituted (superstitions like those of) a slit-ear she-camel, or a she-camel let loose for free pasture, or idol sacrifices for twin-births in animals, or stallion-camels freed from work: It is blasphemers who invent a lie against Allah; but most of them lack wisdom. |

তারা বলেঃ তার প্রতি তার পালনকর্তার পক্ষ থেকে কোন নিদর্শন অবতীর্ণ হয়নি কেন? বলে দিনঃ আল্লাহ নিদর্শন অবতরণ করতে পূর্ন সক্ষম; কিন্তু তাদের অধিকাংশই জানে না।
They say: "Why is not a sign sent down to him from his Lord?" Say: "Allah hath certainly power to send down a sign: but most of them understand not. |
(আল আনআম:
আয়াতঃ ৩৭) |

আমি যদি তাদের কাছে ফেরেশতাদেরকে অবতারণ করতাম এবং তাদের সাথে মৃতরা কথাবার্তা বলত এবং আমি সব বস্তুকে তাদের সামনে জীবিত করে দিতাম, তথাপি তারা কখনও বিশ্বাস স্থাপনকারী নয়; কিন্তু যদি আল্লাহ চান। কিন্তু তাদের অধিকাংশই মুর্খ।
Even if We did send unto them angels, and the dead did speak unto them, and We gathered together all things before their very eyes, they are not the ones to believe, unless it is in Allah's plan. But most of them ignore (the truth). |

আর যদি আপনি পৃথিবীর অধিকাংশ লোকের কথা মেনে নেন, তবে তারা আপনাকে আল্লাহর পথ থেকে বিপথগামী করে দেবে। তারা শুধু অলীক কল্পনার অনুসরণ করে এবং সম্পূর্ণ অনুমান ভিত্তিক কথাবার্তা বলে থাকে।
Wert thou to follow the common run of those on earth, they will lead thee away from the way of Allah. They follow nothing but conjecture: they do nothing but lie. |

এরপর তাদের কাছে আসব তাদের সামনের দিক থেকে, পেছন দিক থেকে, ডান দিক থেকে এবং বাম দিক থেকে। আপনি তাদের অধিকাংশকে কৃতজ্ঞ পাবেন না।
"Then will I assault them from before them and behind them, from their right and their left: Nor wilt thou find, in most of them, gratitude (for thy mercies)." |
(আল আ'রাফ:

আর তাদের অধিকাংশ লোককেই আমি প্রতিজ্ঞা বাস্তবায়নকারীরূপে পাইনি; বরং তাদের অধিকাংশকে পেয়েছি হুকুম অমান্যকারী।
Most of them We found not men (true) to their covenant: but most of them We found rebellious and disobedient. |

আপনাকে জিজ্ঞেস করে, কেয়ামত কখন অনুষ্ঠিত হবে? বলে দিন এর খবর তো আমার পালনকর্তার কাছেই রয়েছে। তিনিই তা অনাবৃত করে দেখাবেন নির্ধারিত সময়ে। আসমান ও যমীনের জন্য সেটি অতি কঠিন বিষয়। যখন তা তোমাদের উপর আসবে অজান্তেই এসে যাবে। আপনাকে জিজ্ঞেস করতে থাকে, যেন আপনি তার অনুসন্ধানে লেগে আছেন। বলে দিন, এর সংবাদ বিশেষ করে আল্লাহর নিকটই রয়েছে। কিন্তু তা অধিকাংশ লোকই উপলব্ধি করে না।
They ask thee about the (final) Hour - when will be its appointed time? Say: "The knowledge thereof is with my Lord (alone): None but He can reveal as to when it will occur. Heavy were its burden through the heavens and the earth. Only, all of a sudden will it come to you." They ask thee as if thou Wert eager in search thereof: Say: "The knowledge thereof is with Allah (alone), but most men know not." |

আর তাদের মধ্যে এমন কি বিষয় রয়েছে, যার ফলে আল্লাহ তাদের উপর আযাব দান করবেন না। অথচ তারা মসজিদে-হারামে যেতে বাধাদান করে, অথচ তাদের সে অধিকার নেই। এর অধিকার তো তাদেরই রয়েছে যারা পরহেযগার। কিন্তু তাদের অধিকাংশই সে বিষয়ে অবহিত নয়।
But what plea have they that Allah should not punish them, when they keep out (men) from the sacred Mosque - and they are not its guardians? No men can be its guardians except the righteous; but most of them do not understand. |
(আল-আনফাল:
আয়াতঃ ৩৪) |

কিরূপে? তারা তোমাদের উপর জয়ী হলে তোমাদের আত্নীয়তার ও অঙ্গীকারের কোন মর্যাদা দেবে না। তারা মুখে তোমাদের সন্তুষ্ট করে, কিন্তু তাদের অন্তরসমূহ তা অস্বীকার করে, আর তাদের অধিকাংশ প্রতিশ্রুতি ভঙ্গকারী।
How (can there be such a league), seeing that if they get an advantage over you, they respect not in you the ties either of kinship or of covenant? With (fair words from) their mouths they entice you, but their hearts are averse from you; and most of them are rebellious and wicked. |

বস্তুতঃ তাদের অধিকাংশই শুধু আন্দাজ-অনুমানের উপর চলে, অথচ আন্দাজ-অনুমান সত্যের বেলায় কোন কাজেই আসে না। আল্লাহ ভাল করেই জানেন, তারা যা কিছু করে।
But most of them follow nothing but fancy: truly fancy can be of no avail against truth. Verily Allah is well aware of all that they do. |

আয়াতঃ ৩৬) |

মিসরে যে ব্যক্তি তাকে ক্রয় করল, সে তার স্ত্রীকে বললঃ একে সম্মানে রাখ। সম্ভবতঃ সে আমাদের কাছে আসবে অথবা আমরা তাকে পুত্ররূপে গ্রহণ করে নেব। এমনিভাবে আমি ইউসুফকে এদেশে প্রতিষ্ঠিত করলাম এবং এ জন্যে যে তাকে বাক্যাদির পূর্ণ মর্ম অনুধাবনের পদ্ধতি বিষয়ে শিক্ষা দেই। আল্লাহ নিজ কাজে প্রবল থাকেন, কিন্তু অধিকাংশ লোক তা জানে না।
The man in Egypt who bought him, said to his wife: "Make his stay (among us) honourable: may be he will bring us much good, or we shall adopt him as a son." Thus did We establish Joseph in the land, that We might teach him the interpretation of stories (and events). And Allah hath full power and control over His affairs; but most among mankind know it not. |

| 18 |
আমি আপন পিতৃপুরুষ ইব্রাহীম, ইসহাক ও ইয়াকুবের ধর্ম অনুসরণ করছি। আমাদের জন্য শোভা পায় না যে, কোন বস্তুকে আল্লাহর অংশীদার করি। এটা আমাদের প্রতি এবং অন্য সব লোকের প্রতি আল্লাহর অনুগ্রহ। কিন্ত অধিকাংশ লোক অনুগ্রহ স্বীকার করে না।
"And I follow the ways of my fathers,- Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob; and never could we attribute any partners whatever to Allah: that (comes) of the grace of Allah to us and to mankind: yet most men are not grateful. |
(ইউসূফ:
আয়াতঃ ৩৮) |

তোমরা আল্লাহকে ছেড়ে নিছক কতগুলো নামের এবাদত কর, সেগুলো তোমরা এবং তোমাদের বাপ-দাদারা সাব্যস্ত করে নিয়েছে। আল্লাহ এদের কোন প্রমাণ অবতীর্ণ করেননি। আল্লাহ ছাড়া কারও বিধান দেবার ক্ষমতা নেই। তিনি আদেশ দিয়েছেন যে, তিনি ব্যতীত অন্য কারও এবাদত করো না। এটাই সরল পথ। কিন্তু অধিকাংশ লোক তা জানে না।
"If not Him, ye worship nothing but names which ye have named,- ye and your fathers,- for which Allah hath sent down no authority: the command is for none but Allah: He hath commanded that ye worship none but Him: that is the right religion, but most men understand not... |

আপনি যতই চান, অধিকাংশ লোক বিশ্বাসকারী নয়।
Yet no faith will the greater part of mankind have, however ardently thou dost desire it. |

আলিফ-লাম-মীম-রা; এগুলো কিতাবের আয়াত। যা কিছু আপনার পালনকর্তার পক্ষ থেকে অবতীর্ণ হয়েছে, তা সত্য। কিন্তু অধিকাংশ মানুষ এতে বিশ্বাস করে না।
A. L. M. R. These are the signs (or verses) of the Book: that which hath been revealed unto thee from thy Lord is the Truth; but most men believe not. |
(রা'দ:
আয়াতঃ ১) |

তারা আল্লাহর নামে কঠোর শপথ করে যে, যার মৃত্যু হয় আল্লাহ তাকে পুনরুজ্জীবিত করবেন না। অবশ্যই এর পাকাপোক্ত ওয়াদা হয়ে গেছে। কিন্তু, অধিকাংশ লোক জানে না।
They swear their strongest oaths by Allah, that Allah will not raise up those who die: Nay, but it is a promise (binding) on Him in truth: but most among mankind realise it not. |
(নাহল:
আয়াতঃ ৩৮) |

তারা আল্লাহর অনুগ্রহ চিনে, এরপর অস্বীকার করে এবং তাদের অধিকাংশই অকৃতজ্ঞ।
They recognise the favours of Allah; then they deny them; and most of them are (creatures) ungrateful. |
(নাহল:
আয়াতঃ ৮৩) |

এবং যখন আমি এক আয়াতের স্থলে অন্য আয়াত উপস্থিত করি এবং আল্লাহ যা অবতীর্ণ করেন তিনিই সে সম্পর্কে ভাল জানেন; তখন তারা বলেঃ আপনি তো মনগড়া উক্তি করেন; বরং তাদের অধিকাংশ লোকই জানে না।
When We substitute one revelation for another,- and Allah knows best what He reveals (in stages),- they say, "Thou art but a forger": but most of them understand not. |

আমি এই কোরআনে মানুষকে বিভিন্ন উপকার দ্বারা সব রকম বিষয়বস্তু বুঝিয়েছি। কিন্তু অধিকাংশ লোক অস্বীকার না করে থাকেনি।
And We have explained to man, in this Qur'an, every kind of similitude: yet the greater part of men refuse (to receive it) except with ingratitude! |

তারা কি আল্লাহ ব্যতীত অন্যান্য উপাস্য গ্রহণ করেছে? বলুন, তোমরা তোমাদের প্রমাণ আন। এটাই আমার সঙ্গীদের কথা এবং এটাই আমার পুর্ববর্তীদের কথা। বরং তাদের অধিকাংশই সত্য জানে না; অতএব তারা টালবাহানা করে।
Or have they taken for worship (other) gods besides him? Say, "Bring your convincing proof: this is the Message of those with me and the Message of those before me." But most of them know not the Truth, and so turn away. |
(আম্বিয়া:
আয়াতঃ ২৪) |

না তারা বলে যে, তিনি পাগল ? বরং তিনি তাদের কাছে সত্য নিয়ে আগমন করেছেন এবং তাদের অধিকাংশ সত্যকে অপছন্দ করে।
Or do they say, "He is possessed"? Nay, he has brought them the Truth, but most of them hate the Truth. |
(আল মু'মিনূন:
আয়াতঃ ৭০) |

আপনি কি মনে করেন যে, তাদের অধিকাংশ শোনে অথবা বোঝে ? তারা তো চতুস্পদ জন্তুর মত; বরং আরও পথভ্রান্ত
Or thinkest thou that most of them listen or understand? They are only like cattle;- nay, they are worse astray in Path. |
(আল-ফুরকান:

এবং আমি তা তাদের মধ্যে বিভিন্নভাবে বিতরণ করি, যাতে তারা স্মরণ করে। কিন্তু অধিকাংশ লোক অকৃতজ্ঞতা ছাড়া কিছুই করে না।
And We have distributed the (water) amongst them, in order that they may celebrate (our) praises, but most men are averse (to aught) but (rank) ingratitude. |

নিশ্চয় এতে নিদর্শন আছে, কিন্তু তাদের অধিকাংশই বিশ্বাসী নয়।
Verily, in this is a Sign: but most of them do not believe. |

অতএব, তারা তাঁকে মিথ্যাবাদী বলতে লাগল এবং আমি তাদেরকে নিপাত করে দিলাম। এতে অবশ্যই নিদর্শন আছে; কিন্তু তাদের অধিকাংশই বিশ্বাসী নয়।
So they rejected him, and We destroyed them. Verily in this is a Sign: but most of them do not believe. |

এরপর আযাব তাদেরকে পাকড়াও করল। নিশ্চয় এতে নিদর্শন আছে। কিন্তু তাদের অধিকাংশই বিশ্বাসী নয়।
But the Penalty seized them. Verily in this is a Sign: but most of them do not believe. |

তারা শ্রুত কথা এনে দেয় এবং তাদের অধিকাংশই মিথ্যাবাদী।
(Into whose ears) they pour hearsay vanities, and most of them are liars. |

বল তো কে পৃথিবীকে বাসোপযোগী করেছেন এবং তার মাঝে মাঝে নদ-নদী প্রবাহিত করেছেন এবং তাকে স্থিত রাখার জন্যে পর্বত স্থাপন করেছেন এবং দুই সমুদ্রের মাঝখানে অন্তরায় রেখেছেন। অতএব, আল্লাহর সাথে অন্য কোন উপাস্য আছে কি? বরং তাদের অধিকাংশই জানে না।
Or, Who has made the earth firm to live in; made rivers in its midst; set thereon mountains immovable; and made a separating bar between the two bodies of flowing water? (can there be another) god besides Allah? Nay, most of them know not. |

আপনার পালনকর্তা মানুষের প্রতি অনুগ্রহশীল, কিন্তু তাদের অধিকাংশই কৃতজ্ঞতা প্রকাশ করে না।
But verily thy Lord is full of grace to mankind: Yet most of them are ungrateful. |

এই কোরআন বণী ইসরাঈল যেসব বিষয়ে মতবিরোধ করে, তার অধিকাংশ তাদের কাছে বর্ণনা করে।
Verily this Qur'an doth explain to the Children of Israel most of the matters in which they disagree. |

আয়াতঃ ৭৬) |

তারা বলে, যদি আমরা আপনার সাথে সুপথে আসি, তবে আমরা আমাদের দেশ থেকে উৎখাত হব। আমি কি তাদের জন্যে একটি নিরাপদ হরম প্রতিষ্ঠিত করিনি? এখানে সর্বপ্রকার ফল-মূল আমদানী হয় আমার দেয়া রিযিকস্বরূপ। কিন্তু তাদের অধিকাংশই জানে না।
They say: "If we were to follow the guidance with thee, we should be snatched away from our land." Have We not established for them a secure sanctuary, to which are brought as tribute fruits of all kinds,- a provision from Ourselves? but most of them understand not. |

আয়াতঃ ৫৭) |

যদি আপনি তাদেরকে জিজ্ঞেস করেন, কে আকাশ থেকে বারি বর্ষণ করে, অতঃপর তা দ্বারা মৃত্তিকাকে উহার মৃত হওয়ার পর সঞ্জীবিত করে? তবে তারা অবশ্যই বলবে, আল্লাহ। বলুন, সমস্ত প্রশংসা আল্লাহরই। কিন্তু তাদের অধিকাংশই তা বোঝে না।
And if indeed thou ask them who it is that sends down rain from the sky, and gives life therewith to the earth after its death, they will certainly reply, "Allah!" Say, "Praise be to Allah!" But most of them understand not. |
(আল আনকাবুত:
আয়াতঃ ৬৩) |

আল্লাহর প্রতিশ্রুতি হয়ে গেছে। আল্লাহ তার প্রতিশ্রুতি খেলাফ করবেন না। কিন্তু অধিকাংশ লোক জানে না।
(It is) the promise of Allah. Never does Allah depart from His promise: but most men understand not. |
(আর-রূম:
আয়াতঃ ৬) |

তুমি একনিষ্ঠ ভাবে নিজেকে ধর্মের উপর প্রতিষ্ঠিত রাখ। এটাই আল্লাহর প্রকৃতি, যার উপর তিনি মানব সৃষ্টি করেছেন। আল্লাহর সৃষ্টির কোন পরিবর্তন নেই। এটাই সরল ধর্ম। কিন্তু অধিকাংশ মানুষ জানে না।
So set thou thy face steadily and truly to the Faith: (establish) Allah's handiwork according to the pattern on which He has made mankind: no change (let there be) in the work (wrought) by Allah: that is the standard Religion: but most among mankind understand not. |

আয়াতঃ ৩০) |

বলুন, তোমরা পৃথিবীতে পরিভ্রমণ কর এবং দেখ তোমাদের পুর্ববর্তীদের পরিণাম কি হয়েছে। তাদের অধিকাংশই ছিল মুশরিক।
Say: "Travel through the earth and see what was the end of those before (you): Most of them worshipped others besides Allah." |

আপনি যদি তাদেরকে জিজ্ঞেস করেন, নভোমন্ডল ও ভূ-মন্ডল কে সৃষ্টি করেছে? তারা অবশ্যই বলবে, আল্লাহ। বলুন, সকল প্রশংসাই আল্লাহর। বরং তাদের অধিকাংশই জ্ঞান রাখে না।
If thou ask them, who it is that created the heavens and the earth. They will certainly say, "Allah". Say: "Praise be to Allah!" But most of them understand not. |

আমি আপনাকে সমগ্র মানবজাতির জন্যে সুসংবাদাতা ও সতর্ককারী রূপে পাঠিয়েছি; কিন্তু অধিকাংশ মানুষ তা জানে না।
We have not sent thee but as a universal (Messenger) to men, giving them glad tidings, and warning them (against sin), but most men understand not. |

বলুন, আমার পালনকর্তা যাকে ইচ্ছা রিযিক বাড়িয়ে দেন এবং পরিমিত দেন। কিন্তু অধিকাংশ মানুষ তা বোঝে না।
Say: "Verily my Lord enlarges and restricts the Provision to whom He pleases, but most men understand not." |

ফেরেশতারা বলবে, আপনি পবিত্র, আমরা আপনার পক্ষে, তাদের পক্ষে নই, বরং তারা জিনদের পূজা করত। তাদের অধিকাংশই শয়তানে বিশ্বাসী।
They will say, "Glory to Thee! our (tie) is with Thee - as Protector - not with them. Nay, but they worshipped the Jinns: most of them believed in them." |

তাদের অধিকাংশের জন্যে শাস্তির বিষয় অবধারিত হয়েছে। সুতরাং তারা বিশ্বাস স্থাপন করবে না।
The Word is proved true against the greater part of them: for they do not believe. |

তাদের পূর্বেও অগ্রবর্তীদের অধিকাংশ বিপথগামী হয়েছিল।
And truly before them, many of the ancients went astray;- |

আল্লাহ এক দৃষ্টান্ত বর্ণনা করেছেনঃ একটি লোকের উপর পরস্পর বিরোধী কয়জন মালিক রয়েছে, আরেক ব্যক্তির প্রভু মাত্র একজন-তাদের উভয়ের অবস্থা কি সমান? সমস্ত প্রশংসা আল্লাহর। কিন্তু তাদের অধিকাংশই জানে না।
Allah puts forth a Parable a man belonging to many partners at variance with each other, and a man belonging entirely to one master: are those two equal in comparison? Praise be to Allah! but most of them have no knowledge. |

মানুষকে যখন দুঃখ-কষ্ট স্পর্শ করে, তখন সে আমাকে ডাকতে শুরু করে, এরপর আমি যখন তাকে আমার পক্ষ থেকে নেয়ামত দান করি, তখন সে বলে, এটা তো আমি পূর্বের জানা মতেই প্রাপ্ত হয়েছি। অথচ এটা এক পরীক্ষা, কিন্তু তাদের অধিকাংশই বোঝে না।
Now, when trouble touches man, he cries to Us: But when We bestow a favour upon him as from Ourselves, he says, "This has been given to me because of a certain knowledge (I have)!" Nay, but this is but a trial, but most of them understand not! |

মানুষের সৃষ্টি অপেক্ষা নভোমন্ডল ও ভূ-মন্ডলের সৃষ্টি কঠিনতর। কিন্তু অধিকাংশ মানুষ বোঝে না।
Assuredly the creation of the heavens and the earth is a greater (matter) than the creation of men: Yet most men understand not. |

কেয়ামত অবশ্যই আসবে, এতে সন্দেহ নেই; কিন্ত অধিকাংশ লোক বিশ্বাস স্থাপন করে না।
The Hour will certainly come: Therein is no doubt: Yet most men believe not. |

তিনিই আল্লাহ যিনি রাত্র সৃষ্টি করেছেন তোমাদের বিশ্রামের জন্যে এবং দিবসকে করেছেন দেখার জন্যে। নিশ্চয় আল্লাহ মানুষের প্রতি অনুগ্রহশীল, কিন্তু অধিকাংশ মানুষ কৃতজ্ঞতা স্বীকার করে না।
It is Allah Who has made the Night for you, that ye may rest therein, and the days as that which helps (you) to see. Verily Allah is full of Grace and Bounty to men: yet most men give no thanks. |

সুসংবাদদাতা ও সতর্ককারীরূপে, অতঃপর তাদের অধিকাংশই মুখ ফিরিয়ে নিয়েছে, তারা শুনে না।
Giving good news and admonition: yet most of them turn away, and so they hear not. |

আমি তোমাদের কাছে সত্যধর্ম পৌঁছিয়েছি; কিন্তু তোমাদের অধিকাংশই সত্যধর্মে নিস্পৃহ!
Verily We have brought the Truth to you: but most of you have a hatred for Truth. |

আমি এগুলো যথাযথ উদ্দেশ্যে সৃষ্টি করেছি; কিন্তু তাদের অধিকাংশই বোঝে না।
We created them not except for just ends: but most of them do not understand. |

আপনি বলুন, আল্লাহই তোমাদেরকে জীবন দান করেন, অতঃপর মৃত্যু দেন, অতঃপর তোমাদেরকে কেয়ামতের দিন একত্রিত করবেন, যাতে কোন সন্দেহ নেই। কিন্তু অধিকাংশ মানুষ বোঝে না।
Say: "It is Allah Who gives you life, then gives you death; then He will gather you together for the Day of Judgment about which there is no doubt": But most men do not understand. |

যারা প্রাচীরের আড়াল থেকে আপনাকে উচুস্বরে ডাকে, তাদের অধিকাংশই অবুঝ।
Those who shout out to thee from without the inner apartments - most of them lack understanding. |

গোনাহগারদের জন্যে এছাড়া আরও শাস্তি রয়েছে, কিন্তু তাদের অধিকাংশই তা জানে না।
And verily, for those who do wrong, there is another punishment besides this: But most of them understand not. |

যারা মুমিন, তাদের জন্যে কি আল্লাহর স্মরণে এবং যে সত্য অবর্তীর্ণ হয়েছে, তার কারণে হৃদয় বিগলিত হওয়ার সময় আসেনি? তারা তাদের মত যেন না হয়, যাদেরকে পূর্বে কিতাব দেয়া হয়েছিল। তাদের উপর সুদীর্ঘকাল অতিক্রান্ত হয়েছে, অতঃপর তাদের অন্তঃকরণ কঠিন হয়ে গেছে। তাদের অধিকাংশই পাপাচারী।
Has not the Time arrived for the Believers that their hearts in all humility should engage in the remembrance of Allah and of the Truth which has been revealed (to them), and that they should not become like those to whom was given Revelation aforetime, but long ages passed over them and their hearts grew hard? For many among them are rebellious transgressors. |

আমি নূহ ও ইব্রাহীমকে রসূলরূপে প্রেরণ করেছি এবং তাদের বংশধরের মধ্যে নবুওয়ত ও কিতাব অব্যাহত রেখেছি। অতঃপর তাদের কতক সৎপথপ্রাপ্ত হয়েছে এবং অধিকাংশই হয়েছে পাপাচারী।
And We sent Noah and Abraham, and established in their line Prophethood and Revelation: and some of them were on right guidance. But many of them became rebellious transgressors. |

অতঃপর আমি তাদের পশ্চাতে প্রেরণ করেছি আমার রসূলগণকে এবং তাদের অনুগামী করেছি মরিয়ম তনয় ঈসাকে ও তাকে দিয়েছি ইঞ্জিল। আমি তার অনুসারীদের অন্তরে স্থাপন করেছি নম্রতা ও দয়া। আর বৈরাগ্য, সে তো তারা নিজেরাই উদ্ভাবন করেছে; আমি এটা তাদের উপর ফরজ করিনি; কিন্তু তারা আল্লাহর সন্তুষ্টি লাভের জন্যে এটা অবলম্বন করেছে। অতঃপর তারা যথাযথভাবে তা পালন করেনি। তাদের মধ্যে যারা বিশ্বাসী ছিল, আমি তাদেরকে তাদের প্রাপ্য পুরস্কার দিয়েছি। আর তাদের অধিকাংশই পাপাচারী।
Then, in their wake, We followed them up with (others of) Our messengers: We sent after them Jesus the son of Mary, and bestowed on him the Gospel; and We ordained in the hearts of those who followed him Compassion and Mercy. But the Monasticism which they invented for themselves, We did not prescribe for them: (We commanded) only the seeking for the Good Pleasure of Allah; but that they did not foster as they should have done. Yet We bestowed, on those among them who believed, their (due) reward, but many of them are rebellious transgressors. |
