| 1 | আপনার পূর্বে আমি যতজনকে রসূল করে পাঠিয়েছি, তারা সবাই পুরুষই ছিল জনপদবাসীদের মধ্য থেকে। আমি তাঁদের কাছে ওহী প্রেরণ করতাম। তারা কি দেশ-বিদেশ ভ্রমণ করে না, যাতে দেখে নিত কিরূপ পরিণতি হয়েছে তাদের যারা পূর্বে ছিল ? সংযমকারীদের জন্যে পরকালের আবাসই উত্তম। তারা কি এখনও বোঝে না? Nor did We send before thee (as messengers) any but men, whom we did inspire,- (men) living in human habitations. Do they not travel through the earth, and see what was the end of those before them? But the home of the hereafter is best, for those who do right. Will ye not then understand? |

| 2 | যারা বিবাহে সামর্থ নয়, তারা যেন সংযম অবলম্বন করে যে পর্যন্ত না আল্লাহ নিজ অনুগ্রহে তাদেরকে অভাবমুক্ত করে দেন। তোমাদের অধিকারভুক্তদের মধ্যে যারা মুক্তির জন্য লিখিত চুক্তি করতে চায়, তাদের সাথে তোমরা লিখিত চুক্তি কর যদি জান যে, তাদের মধ্যে কল্যাণ আছে। আল্লাহ তোমাদেরকে যে, অর্থ-কড়ি দিয়েছেন, তা থেকে তাদেরকে দান কর। তোমাদের দাসীরা নিজেদের পবিত্রতা রক্ষা করতে চাইলে তোমরা পার্থিব জীবনের সম্পদের লালসায় তাদেরকে ব্যভিচারে বাধ্য কারো না। যদি কেহ তাদের উপর জোর-জবরদস্তি করে, তবে তাদের উপর জোর-জবরদস্তির পর আল্লাহ তাদের প্রতি ক্ষমাশীল, পরম দয়ালু। Let those who find not the wherewithal for marriage keep themselves chaste, until Allah gives them means out of His grace. And if any of your slaves ask for a deed in writing (to enable them to earn their freedom for a certain sum), give them such a deed if ye know any good in them: yea, give them something yourselves out of the means which Allah has given to you. But force not your maids to prostitution when they desire chastity, in order that ye may make a gain in the goods of this life. But if anyone compels them, yet, after such compulsion, is Allah, Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful (to them), |

| 3 | পার্থিব জীবন তো কেবল খেলাধুলা, যদি তোমরা বিশ্বাসী হও এবং সংযম অবলম্বন কর, আল্লাহ তোমাদেরকে তোমাদের প্রতিদান দেবেন এবং তিনি তোমাদের ধন-সম্পদ চাইবেন না। The life of this world is but play and amusement: and if ye believe and guard against Evil, He will grant you your recompense, and will not ask you (to give up) your possessions. |

| 4 | কেননা, কাফেররা তাদের অন্তরে মূর্খতাযুগের জেদ পোষণ করত। অতঃপর আল্লাহ তাঁর রসূল ও মুমিনদের উপর স্বীয় প্রশান্তি নাযিল করলেন এবং তাদের জন্যে সংযমের দায়িত্ব অপরিহার্য করে দিলেন। বস্তুতঃ তারাই ছিল এর অধিকতর যোগ্য ও উপযুক্ত। আল্লাহ সর্ববিষয়ে সম্যক জ্ঞাত। While the Unbelievers got up in their hearts heat and cant - the heat and cant of ignorance,- Allah sent down His Tranquillity to his Messenger and to the Believers, and made them stick close to the command of self-restraint; and well were they entitled to it and worthy of it. And Allah has full knowledge of all things. |

| 5 | যারা বড় বড় গোনাহ ও অশ্লীলকার্য থেকে বেঁচে থাকে ছোটখাট অপরাধ করলেও নিশ্চয় আপনার পালনকর্তার ক্ষমা সুদূর বিস্তৃত। তিনি তোমাদের সম্পর্কে ভাল জানেন, যখন তিনি তোমাদেরকে সৃষ্টি করেছেন মৃত্তিকা থেকে এবং যখন তোমরা মাতৃগর্ভে কচি শিশু ছিলে। অতএব তোমরা আত্নপ্রশংসা করো না। তিনি ভাল জানেন কে সংযমী। Those who avoid great sins and shameful deeds, only (falling into) small faults,- verily thy Lord is ample in forgiveness. He knows you well when He brings you out of the earth, And when ye are hidden in your mothers' wombs. Therefore justify not yourselves: He knows best who it is that guards against evil. |
