| 1 | আর আমি যখন তোমাদের কাছ থেকে অঙ্গীকার নিয়েছিলাম এবং তুর পর্বতকে তোমাদের মাথার উপর তুলে ধরেছিলাম এই বলে যে, তোমাদিগকে যে কিতাব দেয়া হয়েছে তাকে ধর সুদৃঢ়ভাবে এবং এতে যা কিছু রয়েছে তা মনে রেখো যাতে তোমরা ভয় কর। And remember We took your covenant and We raised above you (The towering height) of Mount (Sinai): (Saying): "Hold firmly to what We have given you and bring (ever) to remembrance what is therein: Perchance ye may fear Allah." |

| 2 | আর তোমরা আল্লাহর উদ্দেশ্যে হজ্জ্ব ওমরাহ পরিপূর্ণ ভাবে পালন কর। যদি তোমরা বাধা প্রাপ্ত হও, তাহলে কোরবানীর জন্য যাকিছু সহজলভ্য, তাই তোমাদের উপর ধার্য। আর তোমরা ততক্ষণ পর্যন্ত মাথা মুন্ডন করবে না, যতক্ষণ না কোরবাণী যথাস্থানে পৌছে যাবে। যারা তোমাদের মধ্যে অসুস্থ হয়ে পড়বে কিংবা মাথায় যদি কোন কষ্ট থাকে, তাহলে তার পরিবর্তে রোজা করবে কিংবা খয়রাত দেবে অথবা কুরবানী করবে। আর তোমাদের মধ্যে যারা হজ্জ্ব ওমরাহ একত্রে একই সাথে পালন করতে চাও, তবে যাকিছু সহজলভ্য, তা দিয়ে কুরবানী করাই তার উপর কর্তব্য। বস্তুতঃ যারা কোরবানীর পশু পাবে না, তারা হজ্জ্বের দিনগুলোর মধ্যে রোজা রাখবে তিনটি আর সাতটি রোযা রাখবে ফিরে যাবার পর। এভাবে দশটি রোযা পূর্ণ হয়ে যাবে। এ নির্দেশটি তাদের জন্য, যাদের পরিবার পরিজন মসজিদুল হারামের আশে-পাশে বসবাস করে না। আর আল্লাহকে ভয় করতে থাক। সন্দেহাতীতভাবে জেনো যে, আল্লাহর আযাব বড়ই কঠিন। And complete the Hajj or 'umra in the service of Allah. But if ye are prevented (From completing it), send an offering for sacrifice, such as ye may find, and do not shave your heads until the offering reaches the place of sacrifice. And if any of you is ill, or has an ailment in his scalp, (Necessitating shaving), (He should) in compensation either fast, or feed the poor, or offer sacrifice; and when ye are in peaceful conditions (again), if any one wishes to continue the 'umra on to the hajj, He must make an offering, such as he can afford, but if he cannot afford it, He should fast three days during the hajj and seven days on his return, Making ten days in all. This is for those whose household is not in (the precincts of) the Sacred Mosque. And fear Allah, and know that Allah Is strict in punishment. |

| 3 | কোন কোন আহলে কিতাব এমনও রয়েছে, তোমরা যদি তাদের কাছে বহু ধন-সম্পদ আমানত রাখ, তাহলেও তা তোমাদের যথারীতি পরিশোধ করবে। আর তোদের মধ্যে অনেক এমনও রয়েছে যারা একটি দীনার গচ্ছিত রাখলেও ফেরত দেবে না-যে পর্যন্ত না তুমি তার মাথার উপর দাঁড়াতে পারবে। এটা এজন্য যে, তারা বলে রেখেছে যে, উম্মীদের অধিকার বিনষ্ট করাতে আমাদের কোন পাপ নেই। আর তারা আল্লাহ সম্পর্কে জেনে শুনেই মিথ্যা বলে। Among the People of the Book are some who, if entrusted with a hoard of gold, will (readily) pay it back; others, who, if entrusted with a single silver coin, will not repay it unless thou constantly stoodest demanding, because, they say, "there is no call on us (to keep faith) with these ignorant (Pagans)." but they tell a lie against Allah, and (well) they know it. |

| 4 | আর এমন লোকদের জন্য কোন ক্ষমা নেই, যারা মন্দ কাজ করতেই থাকে, এমন কি যখন তাদের কারো মাথার উপর মৃত্যু উপস্থিত হয়, তখন বলতে থাকেঃ আমি এখন তওবা করছি। আর তওবা নেই তাদের জন্য, যারা কুফরী অবস্থায় মৃত্যুবরণ করে। আমি তাদের জন্য যন্ত্রণাদায়ক শাস্তি প্রস্তুত করে রেখেছি। Of no effect is the repentance of those who continue to do evil, until death faces one of them, and he says, "Now have I repented indeed;" nor of those who die rejecting Faith: for them have We prepared a punishment most grievous. |

| 5 | যে ব্যক্তি ভূল কিংবা গোনাহ করে, অতঃপর কোন নিরপরাধের উপর অপবাদ আরোপ করে সে নিজের মাথায় বহন করে জঘন্য মিথ্যা ও প্রকাশ্য গোনাহ। But if any one earns a fault or a sin and throws it on to one that is innocent, He carries (on himself) (Both) a falsehood and a flagrant sin. |

| 6 | হে মুমিনগণ, যখন তোমরা নামাযের জন্যে উঠ, তখন স্বীয় মুখমন্ডল ও হস্তসমূহ কনুই পর্যন্ত ধৌত কর, মাথা মুছেহ কর এবং পদযুগল গিটসহ। যদি তোমরা অপবিত্র হও তবে সারা দেহ পবিত্র করে নাও এবং যদি তোমরা রুগ্ন হও, অথবা প্রবাসে থাক অথবা তোমাদের কেউ প্রসাব-পায়খানা সেরে আসে অথবা তোমরা স্ত্রীদের সাথে সহবাস কর, অতঃপর পানি না পাও, তবে তোমরা পবিত্র মাটি দ্বারা তায়াম্মুম করে নাও-অর্থাৎ, স্বীয় মুখ-মন্ডল ও হস্তদ্বয় মাটি দ্বারা মুছে ফেল। আল্লাহ তোমাদেরকে অসুবিধায় ফেলতে চান না; কিন্তু তোমাদেরকে পবিত্র রাখতে চান এবং তোমাদের প্রতি স্বীয় নেয়ামত পূর্ণ করতে চান-যাতে তোমরা কৃতজ্ঞাতা প্রকাশ কর। O ye who believe! when ye prepare for prayer, wash your faces, and your hands (and arms) to the elbows; Rub your heads (with water); and (wash) your feet to the ankles. If ye are in a state of ceremonial impurity, bathe your whole body. But if ye are ill, or on a journey, or one of you cometh from offices of nature, or ye have been in contact with women, and ye find no water, then take for yourselves clean sand or earth, and rub therewith your faces and hands, Allah doth not wish to place you in a difficulty, but to make you clean, and to complete his favour to you, that ye may be grateful. |

| 7 | আমি চাই যে, আমার পাপ ও তোমার পাপ তুমি নিজের মাথায় চাপিয়ে নাও। অতঃপর তুমি দোযখীদের অন্তর্ভূক্ত হয়ে যাও। এটাই অত্যাচারীদের শাস্তি। "For me, I intend to let thee draw on thyself my sin as well as thine, for thou wilt be among the companions of the fire, and that is the reward of those who do wrong." |

| 8 | তারপর যখন মূসা নিজ সম্প্রদায়ে ফিরে এলেন রাগাম্বিত ও অনুতপ্ত অবস্থায়, তখন বললেন, আমার অনুপস্থিতিতে তোমরা আমার কি নিকৃষ্ট প্রতিনিধিত্বটাই না করেছ। তোমরা নিজ পরওয়ারদেগারের হুকুম থেকে কি তাড়াহুড়া করে ফেললে এবং সে তখতীগুলো ছুঁড়ে ফেলে দিলেন এবং নিজের ভাইয়ের মাথার চুল চেপে ধরে নিজের দিকে টানতে লাগলেন। ভাই বললেন, হে আমার মায়ের পুত্র, লোকগুলো যে আমাকে দুর্বল মনে করল এবং আমাকে যে মেরে ফেলার উপক্রম করেছিল। সুতরাং আমার উপর আর শত্রুদের হাসিও না। আর আমাকে জালিমদের সারিতে গন্য করো না। When Moses came back to his people, angry and grieved, he said: "Evil it is that ye have done in my place in my absence: did ye make haste to bring on the judgment of your Lord?" He put down the tablets, seized his brother by (the hair of) his head, and dragged him to him. Aaron said: "Son of my mother! the people did indeed reckon me as naught, and went near to slaying me! Make not the enemies rejoice over my misfortune, nor count thou me amongst the people of sin." |

| 9 | যদি তোমরা তাকে (রসূলকে) সাহায্য না কর, তবে মনে রেখো, আল্লাহ তার সাহায্য করেছিলেন, যখন তাকে কাফেররা বহিষ্কার করেছিল, তিনি ছিলেন দু’জনের একজন, যখন তারা গুহার মধ্যে ছিলেন। তখন তিনি আপন সঙ্গীকে বললেন বিষন্ন হয়ো না, আল্লাহ আমাদের সাথে আছেন। অতঃপর আল্লাহ তার প্রতি স্বীয় সান্তনা নাযিল করলেন এবং তাঁর সাহায্যে এমন বাহিনী পাঠালেন, যা তোমরা দেখনি। বস্তুতঃ আল্লাহ কাফেরদের মাথা নীচু করে দিলেন আর আল্লাহর কথাই সদা সমুন্নত এবং আল্লাহ পরাক্রমশালী, প্রজ্ঞাময়। If ye help not (your leader), (it is no matter): for Allah did indeed help him, when the Unbelievers drove him out: he had no more than one companion; they two were in the cave, and he said to his companion, "Have no fear, for Allah is with us": then Allah sent down His peace upon him, and strengthened him with forces which ye saw not, and humbled to the depths the word of the Unbelievers. But the word of Allah is exalted to the heights: for Allah is Exalted in might, Wise. |

| 10 | তারা কোন আশ্রয়স্থল, কোন গুহা বা মাথা গোঁজার ঠাই পেলে সেদিকে পলায়ন করবে দ্রুতগতিতে। If they could find a place to flee to, or caves, or a place of concealment, they would turn straightaway thereto, with an obstinate rush. |

| 11 | তাঁর সাথে কারাগারে দুজন যুবক প্রবেশ করল। তাদের একজন বললঃ আমি স্বপ্নে দেখলাম যে, আমি মদ নিঙড়াচ্ছি। অপরজন বললঃ আমি দেখলাম যে, নিজ মাথায় রুটি বহন করছি। তা থেকে পাখী ঠুকরিয়ে খাচ্ছে। আমাদের কে এর ব্যাখ্যা বলুন। আমরা আপনাকে সৎকর্মশীল দেখতে পাচ্ছি। Now with him there came into the prison two young men. Said one of them: "I see myself (in a dream) pressing wine." said the other: "I see myself (in a dream) carrying bread on my head, and birds are eating, thereof." "Tell us" (they said) "The truth and meaning thereof: for we see thou art one that doth good (to all)." |

| 12 | ওরা প্রত্যেকেই কি মাথার উপর স্ব স্ব কৃতকর্ম নিয়ে দন্ডায়মান নয়? এবং তারা আল্লাহর জন্য অংশীদার সাব্যস্ত করে। বলুন; নাম বল অথবা খবর দাও পৃথিবীর এমন কিছু জিনিস সম্পর্কে যা তিনি জানেন না? অথবা অসার কথাবার্তা বলছ? বরং সুশোভিত করা হয়েছে কাফেরদের জন্যে তাদের প্রতারণাকে এবং তাদেরকে সৎপথ থেকে বাধা দান করা হয়েছে। আল্লাহ যাকে পথভ্রষ্ট করেন, তার কোন পথ প্রদর্শক নেই। Is then He who standeth over every soul (and knoweth) all that it doth, (like any others)? And yet they ascribe partners to Allah. Say: "But name them! is it that ye will inform Him of something he knoweth not on earth, or is it (just) a show of words?" Nay! to those who believe not, their pretence seems pleasing, but they are kept back (thereby) from the path. And those whom Allah leaves to stray, no one can guide. |

| 13 | নিশ্চয় চক্রান্ত করেছে তাদের পূর্ববর্তীরা, অতঃপর আল্লাহ তাদের চক্রান্তের ইমারতের ভিত্তিমূলে আঘাত করেছিলেন। এরপর উপর থেকে তাদের মাথায় ছাদ ধ্বসে পড়ে গেছে এবং তাদের উপর আযাব এসেছে যেখান থেকে তাদের ধারণা ছিল না। Those before them did also plot (against Allah's Way): but Allah took their structures from their foundations, and the roof fell down on them from above; and the Wrath seized them from directions they did not perceive. |

| 14 | সুতরাং তাদের মন্দ কাজের শাস্তি তাদেরই মাথায় আপতিত হয়েছে এবং তারা যে ঠাট্টা বিদ্রুপ করত, তাই উল্টে তাদের উপর পড়েছে। But the evil results of their deeds overtook them, and that very (Wrath) at which they had scoffed hemmed them in. |

| 15 | তাদের সামনে ভালবাসার সাথে, নম্রভাবে মাথা নত করে দাও এবং বলঃ হে পালনকর্তা, তাদের উভয়ের প্রতি রহম কর, যেমন তারা আমাকে শৈশবকালে লালন-পালন করেছেন। And, out of kindness, lower to them the wing of humility, and say: "My Lord! bestow on them thy Mercy even as they cherished me in childhood." |

| 16 | অথবা এমন কোন বস্তু, যা তোমাদের ধারণায় খুবই কঠিন; তথাপি তারা বলবেঃ আমাদের কে পুর্নবার কে সৃষ্টি করবে। বলুনঃ যিনি তোমাদেরকে প্রথমবার সৃজন করেছেন। অতঃপর তারা আপনার সামনে মাথা নাড়বে এবং বলবেঃ এটা কবে হবে? বলুনঃ হবে, সম্ভবতঃ শ্রীঘ্রই। "Or created matter which, in your minds, is hardest (to be raised up),- (Yet shall ye be raised up)!" then will they say: "Who will cause us to return?" Say: "He who created you first!" Then will they wag their heads towards thee, and say, "When will that be?" Say, "May be it will be quite soon! |

| 17 | তিনি বললেনঃ হে আমার জননী-তনয়, আমার শ্মশ্রু ও মাথার চুল ধরে আকর্ষণ করো না; আমি আশঙ্কা করলাম যে, তুমি বলবেঃ তুমি বনী-ইসরাঈলের মধ্যে বিভেদ সৃষ্টি করেছ এবং আমার কথা স্মরণে রাখনি। (Aaron) replied: "O son of my mother! Seize (me) not by my beard nor by (the hair of) my head! Truly I feared lest thou shouldst say, 'Thou has caused a division among the children of Israel, and thou didst not respect my word!'" |

| 18 | এই দুই বাদী বিবাদী, তারা তাদের পালনকর্তা সম্পর্কে বিতর্ক করে। অতএব যারা কাফের, তাদের জন্যে আগুনের পোশাক তৈরী করা হয়েছে। তাদের মাথার উপর ফুটন্ত পানি ঢেলে দেয়া হবে। These two antagonists dispute with each other about their Lord: But those who deny (their Lord),- for them will be cut out a garment of Fire: over their heads will be poured out boiling water. |

| 19 | ঈমানদার নারীদেরকে বলুন, তারা যেন তাদের দৃষ্টিকে নত রাখে এবং তাদের যৌন অঙ্গের হেফাযত করে। তারা যেন যা সাধারণতঃ প্রকাশমান, তা ছাড়া তাদের সৌন্দর্য প্রদর্শন না করে এবং তারা যেন তাদের মাথার ওড়না বক্ষ দেশে ফেলে রাখে এবং তারা যেন তাদের স্বামী, পিতা, শ্বশুর, পুত্র, স্বামীর পুত্র, ভ্রাতা, ভ্রাতুস্পুত্র, ভগ্নিপুত্র, স্ত্রীলোক অধিকারভুক্ত বাঁদী, যৌনকামনামুক্ত পুরুষ, ও বালক, যারা নারীদের গোপন অঙ্গ সম্পর্কে অজ্ঞ, তাদের ব্যতীত কারো আছে তাদের সৌন্দর্য প্রকাশ না করে, তারা যেন তাদের গোপন সাজ-সজ্জা প্রকাশ করার জন্য জোরে পদচারণা না করে। মুমিনগণ, তোমরা সবাই আল্লাহর সামনে তওবা কর, যাতে তোমরা সফলকাম হও। And say to the believing women that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty; that they should not display their beauty and ornaments except what (must ordinarily) appear thereof; that they should draw their veils over their bosoms and not display their beauty except to their husbands, their fathers, their husband's fathers, their sons, their husbands' sons, their brothers or their brothers' sons, or their sisters' sons, or their women, or the slaves whom their right hands possess, or male servants free of physical needs, or small children who have no sense of the shame of sex; and that they should not strike their feet in order to draw attention to their hidden ornaments. And O ye Believers! turn ye all together towards Allah, that ye may attain Bliss. |

| 20 | যেদিন আযাব তাদেরকে ঘেরাও করবে মাথার উপর থেকে এবং পায়ের নীচ থেকে। আল্লাহ বললেন, তোমরা যা করতে, তার স্বাদ গ্রহণ কর। On the Day that the Punishment shall cover them from above them and from below them, and (a Voice) shall say: "Taste ye (the fruits) of your deeds!" |
(আল আনকাবুত: আয়াতঃ ৫৫) |
| 21 | তাতে মাথা ব্যথার উপাদান নেই এবং তারা তা পান করে মাতালও হবে না। Free from headiness; nor will they suffer intoxication therefrom. |
(আস-সাফফাত: আয়াতঃ ৪৭) |
| 22 | অতঃপর তার মাথার উপর ফুটন্ত পানির আযাব ঢেলে দাও, "Then pour over his head the Penalty of Boiling Water, |

| 23 | যখন তাদেরকে বলা হয়ঃ তোমরা এস, আল্লাহর রসূল তোমাদের জন্য ক্ষমাপ্রার্থনা করবেন, তখন তারা মাথা ঘুরিয়ে নেয় এবং আপনি তাদেরকে দেখেন যে, তারা অহংকার করে মুখ ফিরিয়ে নেয়। And when it is said to them, "Come, the Messenger of Allah will pray for your forgiveness", they turn aside their heads, and thou wouldst see them turning away their faces in arrogance. |

| 24 | তারা কি লক্ষ্য করে না, তাদের মাথার উপর উড়ন্ত পক্ষীকুলের প্রতি পাখা বিস্তারকারী ও পাখা সংকোচনকারী? রহমান আল্লাহ-ই তাদেরকে স্থির রাখেন। তিনি সর্ব-বিষয় দেখেন। Do they not observe the birds above them, spreading their wings and folding them in? None can uphold them except (Allah) Most Gracious: Truly (Allah) Most Gracious: Truly it is He that watches over all things. |

| 25 | নির্মান করেছি তোমাদের মাথার উপর মজবুত সপ্ত-আকাশ। And (have We not) built over you the seven firmaments, |
