| 1 | হে মুমিনগণ! যখন তোমরা কোন নির্দিষ্ট সময়ের জন্যে ঋনের আদান-প্রদান কর, তখন তা লিপিবদ্ধ করে নাও এবং তোমাদের মধ্যে কোন লেখক ন্যায়সঙ্গতভাবে তা লিখে দেবে; লেখক লিখতে অস্বীকার করবে না। আল্লাহ তাকে যেমন শিক্ষা দিয়েছেন, তার উচিত তা লিখে দেয়া। এবং ঋন গ্রহীতা যেন লেখার বিষয় বলে দেয় এবং সে যেন স্বীয় পালনকর্তা আল্লাহকে ভয় করে এবং লেখার মধ্যে বিন্দুমাত্রও বেশ কম না করে। অতঃপর ঋণগ্রহীতা যদি নির্বোধ হয় কিংবা দূর্বল হয় অথবা নিজে লেখার বিষয়বস্তু বলে দিতে অক্ষম হয়, তবে তার অভিভাবক ন্যায়সঙ্গতভাবে লিখাবে। দুজন সাক্ষী কর, তোমাদের পুরুষদের মধ্যে থেকে। যদি দুজন পুরুষ না হয়, তবে একজন পুরুষ ও দুজন মহিলা। ঐ সাক্ষীদের মধ্য থেকে যাদেরকে তোমরা পছন্দ কর যাতে একজন যদি ভুলে যায়, তবে একজন অন্যজনকে স্মরণ করিয়ে দেয়। যখন ডাকা হয়, তখন সাক্ষীদের অস্বীকার করা উচিত নয়। তোমরা এটা লিখতে অলসতা করোনা, তা ছোট হোক কিংবা বড়, নির্দিষ্ট সময় পর্যন্ত। এ লিপিবদ্ধ করণ আল্লাহর কাছে সুবিচারকে অধিক কায়েম রাখে, সাক্ষ্যকে অধিক সুসংহত রাখে এবং তোমাদের সন্দেহে পতিত না হওয়ার পক্ষে অধিক উপযুক্ত। কিন্তু যদি কারবার নগদ হয়, পরস্পর হাতে হাতে আদান-প্রদান কর, তবে তা না লিখলে তোমাদের প্রতি কোন অভিযোগ নেই। তোমরা ক্রয়-বিক্রয়ের সময় সাক্ষী রাখ। কোন লেখক ও সাক্ষীকে ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত করো না। যদি তোমরা এরূপ কর, তবে তা তোমাদের পক্ষে পাপের বিষয়। আল্লাহকে ভয় কর তিনি তোমাদেরকে শিক্ষা দেন। আল্লাহ সব কিছু জানেন। O ye who believe! When ye deal with each other, in transactions involving future obligations in a fixed period of time, reduce them to writing Let a scribe write down faithfully as between the parties: let not the scribe refuse to write: as Allah Has taught him, so let him write. Let him who incurs the liability dictate, but let him fear His Lord Allah, and not diminish aught of what he owes. If they party liable is mentally deficient, or weak, or unable Himself to dictate, Let his guardian dictate faithfully, and get two witnesses, out of your own men, and if there are not two men, then a man and two women, such as ye choose, for witnesses, so that if one of them errs, the other can remind her. The witnesses should not refuse when they are called on (For evidence). Disdain not to reduce to writing (your contract) for a future period, whether it be small or big: it is juster in the sight of Allah, More suitable as evidence, and more convenient to prevent doubts among yourselves but if it be a transaction which ye carry out on the spot among yourselves, there is no blame on you if ye reduce it not to writing. But take witness whenever ye make a commercial contract; and let neither scribe nor witness suffer harm. If ye do (such harm), it would be wickedness in you. So fear Allah; For it is Good that teaches you. And Allah is well acquainted with all things. If ye are on a journey, and cannot find a scribe, a pledge with possession (may serve the purpose). And if one of you deposits a thing on trust with another, let the trustee (faithfully) discharge his trust, and let him Fear his Lord conceal not evidence; for whoever conceals it, - his heart is tainted with sin. And Allah knoweth all that ye do. |

| 2 | আল্লাহ কাউকে তার সাধ্যাতীত কোন কাজের ভার দেন না, সে তাই পায় যা সে উপার্জন করে এবং তাই তার উপর বর্তায় যা সে করে। হে আমাদের পালনকর্তা, যদি আমরা ভুলে যাই কিংবা ভুল করি, তবে আমাদেরকে অপরাধী করো না। হে আমাদের পালনকর্তা! এবং আমাদের উপর এমন দায়িত্ব অর্পণ করো না, যেমন আমাদের পূর্ববর্তীদের উপর অর্পণ করেছ, হে আমাদের প্রভূ! এবং আমাদের দ্বারা ঐ বোঝা বহন করিও না, যা বহন করার শক্তি আমাদের নাই। আমাদের পাপ মোচন কর। আমাদেরকে ক্ষমা কর এবং আমাদের প্রতি দয়া কর। তুমিই আমাদের প্রভু। সুতরাং কাফের সম্প্রদায়ের বিরুদ্ধে আমাদের কে সাহায্যে কর। On no soul doth Allah Place a burden greater than it can bear. It gets every good that it earns, and it suffers every ill that it earns. (Pray:) "Our Lord! Condemn us not if we forget or fall into error; our Lord! Lay not on us a burden Like that which Thou didst lay on those before us; Our Lord! Lay not on us a burden greater than we have strength to bear. Blot out our sins, and grant us forgiveness. Have mercy on us. Thou art our Protector; Help us against those who stand against faith." |

| 3 | যারা বলেঃ আমরা নাছারা, আমি তাদের কাছ থেকেও তাদের অঙ্গীকার নিয়েছিলাম। অতঃপর তারাও যে উপদেশ প্রাপ্ত হয়েছিল, তা থেকে উপকার লাভ করা ভুলে গেল। অতঃপর আমি কেয়ামত পর্যন্ত তাদের মধ্যে পারস্পরিক শত্রুতা ও বিদ্বেষ সঞ্চারিত করে দিয়েছি। অবশেষে আল্লাহ তাদেরকে তাদের কৃতকর্ম সম্পর্কে অবহিত করবেন। From those, too, who call themselves Christians, We did take a covenant, but they forgot a good part of the message that was sent them: so we estranged them, with enmity and hatred between the one and the other, to the day of judgment. And soon will Allah show them what it is they have done. |

| 4 | বরং তোমরা তো তাঁকেই ডাকবে। অতঃপর যে বিপদের জন্যে তাঁকে ডাকবে, তিনি ইচ্ছা করলে তা দুরও করে দেন। যাদেরকে অংশীদার করছ, তখন তাদেরকে ভুলে যাবে। "Nay,- On Him would ye call, and if it be His will, He would remove (the distress) which occasioned your call upon Him, and ye would forget (the false gods) which ye join with Him!" |

| 5 | অতঃপর তারা যখন ঐ উপদেশ ভুলে গেল, যা তাদেরকে দেয়া হয়েছিল, তখন আমি তাদের সামনে সব কিছুর দ্বার উম্মুক্ত করে দিলাম। এমনকি, যখন তাদেরকে প্রদত্ত বিষয়াদির জন্যে তারা খুব গর্বিত হয়ে পড়ল, তখন আমি অকস্মাৎ তাদেরকে পাকড়াও করলাম। তখন তারা নিরাশ হয়ে গেল। But when they forgot the warning they had received, We opened to them the gates of all (good) things, until, in the midst of their enjoyment of Our gifts, on a sudden, We called them to account, when lo! they were plunged in despair! |

| 6 | তারা স্বীয় ধর্মকে তামাশা ও খেলা বানিয়ে নিয়েছিল এবং পার্থিব জীবন তাদের কে ধোকায় ফেলে রেখেছিল। অতএব, আমি আজকে তাদেরকে ভুলে যাব; যেমন তারা এ দিনের সাক্ষাৎকে ভুলে গিয়েছিল এবং যেমন তারা আয়াতসমূহকে অবিশ্বাস করত। "Such as took their religion to be mere amusement and play, and were deceived by the life of the world." That day shall We forget them as they forgot the meeting of this day of theirs, and as they were wont to reject Our signs. |

| 7 | অতঃপর যখন তারা সেসব বিষয় ভুলে গেল, যা তাদেরকে বোঝানো হয়েছিল, তখন আমি সেসব লোককে মুক্তি দান করলাম যারা মন্দ কাজ থেকে বারণ করত। আর পাকড়াও করলাম, গোনাহগারদেরকে নিকৃষ্ট আযাবের মাধ্যমে তাদের না-ফরমানীর দরুন। When they disregarded the warnings that had been given them, We rescued those who forbade Evil; but We visited the wrong-doers with a grievous punishment because they were given to transgression. |

| 8 | মুনাফেক নর-নারী সবারই গতিবিধি একরকম; শিখায় মন্দ কথা, ভাল কথা থেকে বারণ করে এবং নিজ মুঠো বন্ধ রাখে। আল্লাহকে ভুলে গেছে তার, কাজেই তিনিও তাদের ভূলে গেছেন নিঃসন্দেহে মুনাফেকরাই নাফরমান। The Hypocrites, men and women, (have an understanding) with each other: They enjoin evil, and forbid what is just, and are close with their hands. They have forgotten Allah; so He hath forgotten them. Verily the Hypocrites are rebellious and perverse. |
(আত তাওবাহ: আয়াতঃ ৬৭) |
| 9 | যারা পরকালের চাইতে পার্থিব জীবনকে পছন্দ করে; আল্লাহর পথে বাধা দান করে এবং তাতে বক্রতা অন্বেষণ করে, তারা পথ ভুলে দূরে পড়ে আছে। Those who love the life of this world more than the Hereafter, who hinder (men) from the Path of Allah and seek therein something crooked: they are astray by a long distance. |

| 10 | ‘আল্লাহ ইচ্ছা করলে’ বলা ব্যতিরেকে। যখন ভুলে যান, তখন আপনার পালনকর্তাকে স্মরণ করুন এবং বলুনঃ আশা করি আমার পালনকর্তা আমাকে এর চাইতেও নিকটতম সত্যের পথ নির্দেশ করবেন। Without adding, "So please Allah!" and call thy Lord to mind when thou forgettest, and say, "I hope that my Lord will guide me ever closer (even) than this to the right road." |

| 11 | তার চাইতে অধিক জালেম কে, যাকে তার পালনকর্তার কালাম দ্বারা বোঝানো হয়, অতঃপর সে তা থেকে মুখ ফিরিয়ে নেয় এবং তার পূর্ববর্তী কৃতকর্মসমূহ ভুলে যায়? আমি তাদের অন্তরের উপর পর্দা রেখে দিয়েছি, যেন তা না বোঝে এবং তাদের কানে রয়েছে বধিরতার বোঝা। যদি আপনি তাদেরকে সৎপথের প্রতি দাওয়াত দেন, তবে কখনই তারা সৎপথে আসবে না। And who doth more wrong than one who is reminded of the Signs of his Lord, but turns away from them, forgetting the (deeds) which his hands have sent forth? Verily We have set veils over their hearts lest they should understand this, and over their ears, deafness, if thou callest them to guidance, even then will they never accept guidance. |

| 12 | অতঃপর যখন তাঁরা দুই সুমুদ্রের সঙ্গমস্থলে পৌছালেন, তখন তাঁরা নিজেদের মাছের কথা ভুলে গেলেন। অতঃপর মাছটি সমুদ্রে সুড়ঙ্গ পথ সৃষ্টি করে নেমে গেল। But when they reached the Junction, they forgot (about) their Fish, which took its course through the sea (straight) as in a tunnel. |

| 13 | সে বললঃ আপনি কি লক্ষ্য করেছেন, আমরা যখন প্রস্তর খন্ডে আশ্রয় নিয়েছিলাম, তখন আমি মাছের কথা ভুলে গিয়েছিলাম। শয়তানই আমাকে একথা স্মরণ রাখতে ভুলিয়ে দিয়েছিল। মাছটি আশ্চর্য জনক ভাবে সমুদ্রে নিজের পথ করে নিয়েছে। He replied: "Sawest thou (what happened) when we betook ourselves to the rock? I did indeed forget (about) the Fish: none but Satan made me forget to tell (you) about it: it took its course through the sea in a marvellous way!" |

| 14 | মূসা বললেনঃ আমাকে আমার ভুলের জন্যে অপরাধী করবেন না এবং আমার কাজে আমার উপর কঠোরতা আরোপ করবেন না। Moses said: "Rebuke me not for forgetting, nor grieve me by raising difficulties in my case." |
(কাহফ: আয়াতঃ ৭৩) |
| 15 | অতঃপর সে তাদের জন্য তৈরী করে বের করল একটি গো-বৎস, একটা দেহ, যার মধ্যে গরুর শব্দ ছিল। তারা বললঃ এটা তোমাদের উপাস্য এবং মূসার ও উপাস্য, অতঃপর মূসা ভুলে গেছে। "Then he brought out (of the fire) before the (people) the image of a calf: It seemed to low: so they said: This is your god, and the god of Moses, but (Moses) has forgotten!" |

| 16 | আমি ইতিপূর্বে আদমকে নির্দেশ দিয়েছিলাম। অতঃপর সে ভুলে গিয়েছিল এবং আমি তার মধ্যে দৃঢ়তা পাইনি। We had already, beforehand, taken the covenant of Adam, but he forgot: and We found on his part no firm resolve. |

| 17 | আল্লাহ বলবেনঃ এমনিভাবে তোমার কাছে আমার আয়াতসমূহ এসেছিল, অতঃপর তুমি সেগুলো ভুলে গিয়েছিলে। তেমনিভাবে আজ তোমাকে ভুলে যাব। (Allah) will say: "Thus didst Thou, when Our Signs came unto thee, disregard them: so wilt thou, this day, be disregarded." |

| 18 | অতএব এ দিবসকে ভূলে যাওয়ার কারণে তোমরা মজা আস্বাদন কর। আমিও তোমাদেরকে ভুলে গেলাম। তোমরা তোমাদের কৃতকর্মের কারণে স্থায়ী আযাব ভোগ কর। "Taste ye then - for ye forgot the Meeting of this Day of yours, and We too will forget you - taste ye the Penalty of Eternity for your (evil) deeds!" |

| 19 | সে আমার সম্পর্কে এক অদ্ভূত কথা বর্ণনা করে, অথচ সে নিজের সৃষ্টি ভুলে যায়। সে বলে কে জীবিত করবে অস্থিসমূহকে যখন সেগুলো পচে গলে যাবে? And he makes comparisons for Us, and forgets his own (origin and) Creation: He says, "Who can give life to (dry) bones and decomposed ones (at that)?" |

| 20 | বলা হবে, আজ আমি তোমাদেরকে ভুলে যাব, যেমন তোমরা এ দিনের সাক্ষাৎকে ভুলে গিয়েছিলে। তোমাদের আবাসস্থল জাহান্নাম এবং তোমাদের সাহায্যকারী নেই। It will also be said: "This Day We will forget you as ye forgot the meeting of this Day of yours! and your abode is the Fire, and no helpers have ye! |

| 21 | সেদিন স্মরণীয়; যেদিন আল্লাহ তাদের সকলকে পুনরুত্থিত করবেন, অতঃপর তাদেরকে জানিয়ে দিবেন যা তারা করত। আল্লাহ তার হিসাব রেখেছেন, আর তারা তা ভুলে গেছে। আল্লাহর সামনে উপস্থিত আছে সব বস্তুই। On the Day that Allah will raise them all up (again) and show them the Truth (and meaning) of their conduct. Allah has reckoned its (value), though they may have forgotten it, for Allah is Witness to all things. |

| 22 | তোমরা তাদের মত হয়ো না, যারা আল্লাহ তা’আলাকে ভুলে গেছে। ফলে আল্লাহ তা’আলা তাদেরকে আত্ন বিস্মৃত করে দিয়েছেন। তারাই অবাধ্য। And be ye not like those who forgot Allah; and He made them forget their own souls! Such are the rebellious transgressors! |
