| 1 | তার সম্প্রদায়ের দাম্ভিক সর্দাররা বললঃ হে শোয়ায়েব, আমরা অবশ্যই তোমাকে এবং তোমার সাথে বিশ্বাস স্থাপনকারীদেরকে শহর থেকে বের করে দেব অথবা তোমরা আমাদের ধর্মে প্রত্যাবর্তন করবে। শোয়ায়েব বললঃ আমরা অপছন্দ করলেও কি ? The leaders, the arrogant party among his people, said: "O Shu'aib! we shall certainly drive thee out of our city - (thee) and those who believe with thee; or else ye (thou and they) shall have to return to our ways and religion." He said: "What! even though we do detest (them)? |

| 2 | আল্লাহ নভোমন্ডল ও ভূমন্ডলের জ্যোতি, তাঁর জ্যোতির উদাহরণ যেন একটি কুলঙ্গি, যাতে আছে একটি প্রদীপ, প্রদীপটি একটি কাঁচপাত্রে স্থাপিত, কাঁচপাত্রটি উজ্জ্বল নক্ষত্র সদৃশ্য। তাতে পুতঃপবিত্র যয়তুন বৃক্ষের তৈল প্রজ্বলিত হয়, যা পূর্বমুখী নয় এবং পশ্চিমমুখীও নয়। অগ্নি স্পর্শ না করলেও তার তৈল যেন আলোকিত হওয়ার নিকটবর্তী। জ্যোতির উপর জ্যোতি। আল্লাহ যাকে ইচ্ছা পথ দেখান তাঁর জ্যোতির দিকে। আল্লাহ মানুষের জন্যে দৃষ্টান্তসমূহ বর্ণনা করেন এবং আল্লাহ সব বিষয়ে জ্ঞাত। Allah is the Light of the heavens and the earth. The Parable of His Light is as if there were a Niche and within it a Lamp: the Lamp enclosed in Glass: the glass as it were a brilliant star: Lit from a blessed Tree, an Olive, neither of the east nor of the west, whose oil is well-nigh luminous, though fire scarce touched it: Light upon Light! Allah doth guide whom He will to His Light: Allah doth set forth Parables for men: and Allah doth know all things. |

| 3 | মূসা বলল, আমি তোমার কাছে কোন স্পষ্ট বিষয় নিয়ে আগমন করলেও কি? (Moses) said: "Even if I showed you something clear (and) convincing?" |

| 4 | তারা মনে করে শক্রবাহিনী চলে যায়নি। যদি শক্রবাহিনী আবার এসে পড়ে, তবে তারা কামনা করবে যে, যদি তারা গ্রামবাসীদের মধ্য থেকে তোমাদের সংবাদাদি জেনে নিত, তবেই ভাল হত। তারা তোমাদের মধ্যে অবস্থান করলেও যুদ্ধ সামান্যই করত। They think that the Confederates have not withdrawn; and if the Confederates should come (again), they would wish they were in the deserts (wandering) among the Bedouins, and seeking news about you (from a safe distance); and if they were in your midst, they would fight but little. |

| 5 | যারা বড় বড় গোনাহ ও অশ্লীলকার্য থেকে বেঁচে থাকে ছোটখাট অপরাধ করলেও নিশ্চয় আপনার পালনকর্তার ক্ষমা সুদূর বিস্তৃত। তিনি তোমাদের সম্পর্কে ভাল জানেন, যখন তিনি তোমাদেরকে সৃষ্টি করেছেন মৃত্তিকা থেকে এবং যখন তোমরা মাতৃগর্ভে কচি শিশু ছিলে। অতএব তোমরা আত্নপ্রশংসা করো না। তিনি ভাল জানেন কে সংযমী। Those who avoid great sins and shameful deeds, only (falling into) small faults,- verily thy Lord is ample in forgiveness. He knows you well when He brings you out of the earth, And when ye are hidden in your mothers' wombs. Therefore justify not yourselves: He knows best who it is that guards against evil. |
