| 1 | আমাদেরকে সরল পথ দেখাও, Show us the straight way, |
(আল ফাতিহা: আয়াতঃ ৬) |
| 2 | আর তোমরা যখন বললে, হে মূসা, আমরা একই ধরনের খাদ্য-দ্রব্যে কখনও ধৈর্য্যধারণ করব না। কাজেই তুমি তোমার পালনকর্তার নিকট আমাদের পক্ষে প্রার্থনা কর, তিনি যেন আমাদের জন্যে এমন বস্তুসামগ্রী দান করেন যা জমিতে উৎপন্ন হয়, তরকারী, কাকড়ী, গম, মসুরি, পেঁয়াজ প্রভৃতি। মূসা (আঃ) বললেন, তোমরা কি এমন বস্তু নিতে চাও যা নিকৃষ্ট সে বস্তুর পরিবর্তে যা উত্তম? তোমরা কোন নগরীতে উপনীত হও, তাহলেই পাবে যা তোমরা কামনা করছ। আর তাদের উপর আরোপ করা হল লাঞ্ছনা ও পরমুখাপেক্ষিতা। তারা আল্লাহর রোষানলে পতিত হয়ে ঘুরতে থাকল। এমন হলো এ জন্য যে, তারা আল্লাহর বিধি বিধান মানতো না এবং নবীগনকে অন্যায়ভাবে হত্যা করত। তার কারণ, তারা ছিল নাফরমান সীমালংঘকারী। And remember ye said: "O Moses! we cannot endure one kind of food (always); so beseech thy Lord for us to produce for us of what the earth groweth, -its pot-herbs, and cucumbers, Its garlic, lentils, and onions." He said: "Will ye exchange the better for the worse? Go ye down to any town, and ye shall find what ye want!" They were covered with humiliation and misery; they drew on themselves the wrath of Allah. This because they went on rejecting the Signs of Allah and slaying His Messengers without just cause. This because they rebelled and went on transgressing. |

| 3 | যখন মূসা (আঃ) স্বীয় সম্প্রদায়কে বললেনঃ আল্লাহ তোমাদের একটি গরু জবাই করতে বলেছেন। তারা বলল, তুমি কি আমাদের সাথে উপহাস করছ? মূসা (আঃ) বললেন, মূর্খদের অন্তর্ভুক্ত হওয়া থেকে আমি আল্লাহর আশ্রয় প্রার্থনা করছি। And remember Moses said to his people: "Allah commands that ye sacrifice a heifer." They said: "Makest thou a laughing-stock of us?" He said: "Allah save me from being an ignorant (fool)!" |

| 4 | তারা বলল, তুমি তোমার পালনকর্তার কাছে আমাদের জন্য প্রার্থনা কর, যেন সেটির রূপ বিশ্লেষণ করা হয়। মূসা (আঃ) বললেন, তিনি বলছেন, সেটা হবে একটা গাভী, যা বৃদ্ধ নয় এবং কুমারীও নয়-বার্ধক্য ও যৌবনের মাঝামাঝি বয়সের। এখন আদিষ্ট কাজ করে ফেল। They said: "Beseech on our behalf Thy Lord to make plain to us what (heifer) it is!" He said; "He says: The heifer should be neither too old nor too young, but of middling age. Now do what ye are commanded!" |

| 5 | তারা বলল, তোমার পালনকর্তার কাছে আমাদের জন্য প্রার্থনা কর যে, তার রঙ কিরূপ হবে? মূসা (আঃ) বললেন, তিনি বলেছেন যে, গাঢ় পীতবর্ণের গাভী-যা দর্শকদের চমৎকৃত করবে। They said: "Beseech on our behalf Thy Lord to make plain to us Her colour." He said: "He says: A fawn-coloured heifer, pure and rich in tone, the admiration of beholders!" |

| 6 | তারা বলল, আপনি প্রভুর কাছে প্রার্থনা করুন-তিনি বলে দিন যে, সেটা কিরূপ? কেননা, গরু আমাদের কাছে সাদৃশ্যশীল মনে হয়। ইনশাআল্লাহ এবার আমরা অবশ্যই পথপ্রাপ্ত হব। মূসা (আঃ) বললেন, তিনি বলেন যে, এ গাভী ভূকর্ষণ ও জল সেচনের শ্রমে অভ্যস্ত নয়-হবে নিষ্কলঙ্ক, নিখুঁত। They said: "Beseech on our behalf Thy Lord to make plain to us what she is: To us are all heifers alike: We wish indeed for guidance, if Allah wills." |

| 7 | তারা বলে, আমাদের হৃদয় অর্ধাবৃত। এবং তাদের কুফরের কারণে আল্লাহ অভিসম্পাত করেছেন। ফলে তারা অল্পই ঈমান আনে। They say, "Our hearts are the wrappings (which preserve Allah's Word: we need no more)." Nay, Allah's curse is on them for their blasphemy: Little is it they believe. |

| 8 | যখন তাদেরকে বলা হয়, আল্লাহ যা পাঠিয়েছেন তা মেনে নাও, তখন তারা বলে, আমরা মানি যা আমাদের প্রতি অবর্তীণ হয়েছে। সেটি ছাড়া সবগুলোকে তারা অস্বীকার করে। অথচ এ গ্রন্থটি সত্য এবং সত্যায়ন করে ঐ গ্রন্থের যা তাদের কাছে রয়েছে। বলে দিন, তবে তোমরা ইতিপূর্বে পয়গম্বরদের হত্যা করতে কেন যদি তোমরা বিশ্বাসী ছিলে? When it is said to them, "Believe in what Allah Hath sent down, "they say, "We believe in what was sent down to us:" yet they reject all besides, even if it be Truth confirming what is with them. Say: "Why then have ye slain the prophets of Allah in times gone by, if ye did indeed believe?" |

| 9 | যারা কিছু জানে না, তারা বলে, আল্লাহ আমাদের সঙ্গে কেন কথা বলেন না? অথবা আমাদের কাছে কোন নিদর্শন কেন আসে না? এমনি ভাবে তাদের পূর্বে যারা ছিল তারাও তাদেরই অনুরূপ কথা বলেছে। তাদের অন্তর একই রকম। নিশ্চয় আমি উজ্জ্বল নিদর্শনসমূহ বর্ণনা করেছি তাদের জন্যে যারা প্রত্যয়শীল। Say those without knowledge: "Why speaketh not Allah unto us? or why cometh not unto us a Sign?" So said the people before them words of similar import. Their hearts are alike. We have indeed made clear the Signs unto any people who hold firmly to Faith (in their hearts). |

| 10 | স্মরণ কর, যখন ইব্রাহীম ও ইসমাঈল কা’বাগৃহের ভিত্তি স্থাপন করছিল। তারা দোয়া করেছিলঃ পরওয়ারদেগার! আমাদের থেকে কবুল কর। নিশ্চয়ই তুমি শ্রবণকারী, সর্বজ্ঞ। And remember Abraham and Isma'il raised the foundations of the House (With this prayer): "Our Lord! Accept (this service) from us: For Thou art the All-Hearing, the All-knowing. |

| 11 | পরওয়ারদেগার! আমাদের উভয়কে তোমার আজ্ঞাবহ কর এবং আমাদের বংশধর থেকেও একটি অনুগত দল সৃষ্টি কর, আমাদের হজ্বের রীতিনীতি বলে দাও এবং আমাদের ক্ষমা কর। নিশ্চয় তুমি তওবা কবুলকারী। দয়ালু। "Our Lord! make of us Muslims, bowing to Thy (Will), and of our progeny a people Muslim, bowing to Thy (will); and show us our place for the celebration of (due) rites; and turn unto us (in Mercy); for Thou art the Oft-Returning, Most Merciful. |

| 12 | তোমরা বল, আমরা ঈমান এনেছি আল্লাহর উপর এবং যা অবতীর্ণ হয়েছে আমাদের প্রতি এবং যা অবতীর্ণ হয়েছে ইব্রাহীম, ইসমাঈল, ইসহাক, ইয়াকুব এবং তদীয় বংশধরের প্রতি এবং মূসা, ঈসা, অন্যান্য নবীকে পালনকর্তার পক্ষ থেকে যা দান করা হয়েছে, তৎসমুদয়ের উপর। আমরা তাদের মধ্যে পার্থক্য করি না। আমরা তাঁরই আনুগত্যকারী। Say ye: "We believe in Allah, and the revelation given to us, and to Abraham, Isma'il, Isaac, Jacob, and the Tribes, and that given to Moses and Jesus, and that given to (all) prophets from their Lord: We make no difference between one and another of them: And we bow to Allah (in Islam)." |

| 13 | আপনি বলে দিন, তোমরা কি আমাদের সাথে আল্লাহ সম্পর্কে তর্ক করছ? অথচ তিনিই আমাদের পালনকর্তা এবং তোমাদের ও পালনকর্তা। আমাদের জন্যে আমাদের কর্ম তোমাদের জন্যে তোমাদের কর্ম। এবং আমরা তাঁরই প্রতি একনিষ্ঠ। Say: Will ye dispute with us about Allah, seeing that He is our Lord and your Lord; that we are responsible for our doings and ye for yours; and that We are sincere (in our faith) in Him? |
(আল বাকারা: আয়াতঃ ১৩৯) |
| 14 | এবং অনুসারীরা বলবে, কতইনা ভাল হত, যদি আমাদিগকে পৃথিবীতে ফিরে যাবার সুযোগ দেয়া হত। তাহলে আমরাও তাদের প্রতি তেমনি অসন্তুষ্ট হয়ে যেতাম, যেমন তারা অসন্তুষ্ট হয়েছে আমাদের প্রতি। এভাবেই আল্লাহ তা’আলা তাদেরকে দেখাবেন তাদের কৃতকর্ম তাদেরকে অনুতপ্ত করার জন্যে। অথচ, তারা কস্মিনকালেও আগুন থেকে বের হতে পারবে না। And those who followed would say: "If only We had one more chance, We would clear ourselves of them, as they have cleared themselves of us." Thus will Allah show them (The fruits of) their deeds as (nothing but) regrets. Nor will there be a way for them out of the Fire. |

| 15 | আর যখন তাদেরকে কেউ বলে যে, সে হুকুমেরই আনুগত্য কর যা আল্লাহ তা’আলা নাযিল করেছেন, তখন তারা বলে কখনো না, আমরা তো সে বিষয়েরই অনুসরণ করব। যাতে আমরা আমাদের বাপ-দাদাদেরকে দেখেছি। যদি ও তাদের বাপ দাদারা কিছুই জানতো না, জানতো না সরল পথও। When it is said to them: "Follow what Allah hath revealed:" They say: "Nay! we shall follow the ways of our fathers." What! even though their fathers Were void of wisdom and guidance? |

| 16 | মূসার পরে তুমি কি বনী ইসরাঈলের একটি দলকে দেখনি, যখন তারা বলেছে নিজেদের নবীর কাছে যে, আমাদের জন্য একজন বাদশাহ নির্ধারিত করে দিন যাতে আমরা আল্লাহর পথে যুদ্ধ করতে পারি। নবী বললেন, তোমাদের প্রতিও কি এমন ধারণা করা যায় যে, লড়াইর হুকুম যদি হয়, তাহলে তখন তোমরা লড়বে না? তারা বলল, আমাদের কি হয়েছে যে, আমরা আল্লাহর পথে লড়াই করব না। অথচ আমরা বিতাড়িত হয়েছি নিজেদের ঘর-বাড়ী ও সন্তান-সন্ততি থেকে। অতঃপর যখন লড়াইয়ের নির্দেশ হলো, তখন সামান্য কয়েকজন ছাড়া তাদের সবাই ঘুরে দাঁড়ালো। আর আল্লাহ তা’আলা জালেমদের ভাল করেই জানেন। Hast thou not Turned thy vision to the Chiefs of the Children of Israel after (the time of) Moses? they said to a prophet (That was) among them: "Appoint for us a king, that we May fight in the cause of Allah." He said: "Is it not possible, if ye were commanded to fight, that that ye will not fight?" They said: "How could we refuse to fight in the cause of Allah, seeing that we were turned out of our homes and our families?" but when they were commanded to fight, they turned back, except a small band among them. But Allah Has full knowledge of those who do wrong. |

| 17 | আর তাদেরকে তাদের নবী বললেন, নিশ্চয়ই আল্লাহ তালূতকে তোমাদের জন্য বাদশাহ সাব্যস্ত করেছেন। তারা বলতে লাগল তা কেমন করে হয় যে, তার শাসন চলবে আমাদের উপর। অথচ রাষ্ট্রক্ষমতা পাওয়ার ক্ষেত্রে তার চেয়ে আমাদেরই অধিকার বেশী। আর সে সম্পদের দিক দিয়েও সচ্ছল নয়। নবী বললেন, নিশ্চয় আল্লাহ তোমাদের উপর তাকে পছন্দ করেছেন এবং স্বাস্থ্য ও জ্ঞানের দিক দিয়ে প্রাচুর্য দান করেছেন। বস্তুতঃ আল্লাহ তাকেই রাজ্য দান করেন, যাকে ইচ্ছা। আর আল্লাহ হলেন অনুগ্রহ দানকারী এবং সব বিষয়ে অবগত। Their Prophet said to them: "Allah hath appointed Talut as king over you." They said: "How can he exercise authority over us when we are better fitted than he to exercise authority, and he is not even gifted, with wealth in abundance?" He said: "Allah hath Chosen him above you, and hath gifted him abundantly with knowledge and bodily prowess: Allah Granteth His authority to whom He pleaseth. Allah careth for all, and He knoweth all things." |

| 18 | অতঃপর তালূত যখন সৈন্য-সামন্ত নিয়ে বেরুল, তখন বলল, নিশ্চয় আল্লাহ তোমাদিগকে পরীক্ষা করবেন একটি নদীর মাধ্যমে। সুতরাং যে লোক সেই নদীর পানি পান করবে সে আমার নয়। আর যে, লোক তার স্বাদ গ্রহণ করলো না, নিশ্চয়ই সে আমার লোক। কিন্তু যে লোক হাতের আঁজলা ভরে সামান্য খেয়ে নেবে তার দোষঅবশ্য তেমন গুরুতর হবে না। অতঃপর সবাই পান করল সে পানি, সামান্য কয়েকজন ছাড়া। পরে তালূত যখন তা পার হলো এবং তার সাথে ছিল মাত্র কয়েকজন ঈমানদার, তখন তারা বলতে লাগল, আজকের দিনে জালূত এবং তার সেনাবাহিনীর সাথে যুদ্ধ করার শক্তি আমাদের নেই, যাদের ধারণা ছিল যে, আল্লাহর সামনে তাদের একদিন উপস্থিত হতে হবে, তারা বার বার বলতে লাগল, সামান্য দলই বিরাট দলের মোকাবেলায় জয়ী হয়েছে আল্লাহর হুকুমে। আর যারা ধৈর্য্যশীল আল্লাহ তাদের সাথে রয়েছেন। When Talut set forth with the armies, he said: "Allah will test you at the stream: if any drinks of its water, He goes not with my army: Only those who taste not of it go with me: A mere sip out of the hand is excused." but they all drank of it, except a few. When they crossed the river,- He and the faithful ones with him,- they said: "This day We cannot cope with Goliath and his forces." but those who were convinced that they must meet Allah, said: "How oft, by Allah's will, Hath a small force vanquished a big one? Allah is with those who steadfastly persevere." |

| 19 | আর যখন তালূত ও তার সেনাবাহিনী শত্রুর সম্মুখীন হল, তখন বলল, হে আমাদের পালনকর্তা, আমাদের মনে ধৈর্য্য সৃষ্টি করে দাও এবং আমাদেরকে দৃঢ়পদ রাখ-আর আমাদের সাহায্য কর সে কাফের জাতির বিরুদ্ধে। When they advanced to meet Goliath and his forces, they prayed: "Our Lord! Pour out constancy on us and make our steps firm: Help us against those that reject faith." |

| 20 | রসূল বিশ্বাস রাখেন ঐ সমস্ত বিষয় সম্পর্কে যা তাঁর পালনকর্তার পক্ষ থেকে তাঁর কাছে অবতীর্ণ হয়েছে এবং মুসলমানরাও সবাই বিশ্বাস রাখে আল্লাহর প্রতি, তাঁর ফেরেশতাদের প্রতি, তাঁর গ্রন্থসমুহের প্রতি এবং তাঁর পয়গম্বরগণের প্রতি। তারা বলে আমরা তাঁর পয়গম্বরদের মধ্যে কোন তারতম্য করিনা। তারা বলে, আমরা শুনেছি এবং কবুল করেছি। আমরা তোমার ক্ষমা চাই, হে আমাদের পালনকর্তা। তোমারই দিকে প্রত্যাবর্তন করতে হবে। The Messenger believeth in what hath been revealed to him from his Lord, as do the men of faith. Each one (of them) believeth in Allah, His angels, His books, and His messengers. "We make no distinction (they say) between one and another of His messengers." And they say: "We hear, and we obey: (We seek) Thy forgiveness, our Lord, and to Thee is the end of all journeys." |

| 21 | আল্লাহ কাউকে তার সাধ্যাতীত কোন কাজের ভার দেন না, সে তাই পায় যা সে উপার্জন করে এবং তাই তার উপর বর্তায় যা সে করে। হে আমাদের পালনকর্তা, যদি আমরা ভুলে যাই কিংবা ভুল করি, তবে আমাদেরকে অপরাধী করো না। হে আমাদের পালনকর্তা! এবং আমাদের উপর এমন দায়িত্ব অর্পণ করো না, যেমন আমাদের পূর্ববর্তীদের উপর অর্পণ করেছ, হে আমাদের প্রভূ! এবং আমাদের দ্বারা ঐ বোঝা বহন করিও না, যা বহন করার শক্তি আমাদের নাই। আমাদের পাপ মোচন কর। আমাদেরকে ক্ষমা কর এবং আমাদের প্রতি দয়া কর। তুমিই আমাদের প্রভু। সুতরাং কাফের সম্প্রদায়ের বিরুদ্ধে আমাদের কে সাহায্যে কর। On no soul doth Allah Place a burden greater than it can bear. It gets every good that it earns, and it suffers every ill that it earns. (Pray:) "Our Lord! Condemn us not if we forget or fall into error; our Lord! Lay not on us a burden Like that which Thou didst lay on those before us; Our Lord! Lay not on us a burden greater than we have strength to bear. Blot out our sins, and grant us forgiveness. Have mercy on us. Thou art our Protector; Help us against those who stand against faith." |

| 22 | তিনিই আপনার প্রতি কিতাব নাযিল করেছেন। তাতে কিছু আয়াত রয়েছে সুস্পষ্ট, সেগুলোই কিতাবের আসল অংশ। আর অন্যগুলো রূপক। সুতরাং যাদের অন্তরে কুটিলতা রয়েছে, তারা অনুসরণ করে ফিৎনা বিস্তার এবং অপব্যাখ্যার উদ্দেশে তন্মধ্যেকার রূপকগুলোর। আর সেগুলোর ব্যাখ্যা আল্লাহ ব্যতীত কেউ জানে না। আর যারা জ্ঞানে সুগভীর, তারা বলেনঃ আমরা এর প্রতি ঈমান এনেছি। এই সবই আমাদের পালনকর্তার পক্ষ থেকে অবতীর্ণ হয়েছে। আর বোধশক্তি সম্পন্নেরা ছাড়া অপর কেউ শিক্ষা গ্রহণ করে না। He it is Who has sent down to thee the Book: In it are verses basic or fundamental (of established meaning); they are the foundation of the Book: others are allegorical. But those in whose hearts is perversity follow the part thereof that is allegorical, seeking discord, and searching for its hidden meanings, but no one knows its hidden meanings except Allah. And those who are firmly grounded in knowledge say: "We believe in the Book; the whole of it is from our Lord:" and none will grasp the Message except men of understanding. |

| 23 | হে আমাদের পালনকর্তা! সরল পথ প্রদর্শনের পর তুমি আমাদের অন্তরকে সত্যলংঘনে প্রবৃত্ত করোনা এবং তোমার নিকট থেকে আমাদিগকে অনুগ্রহ দান কর। তুমিই সব কিছুর দাতা। "Our Lord!" (they say), "Let not our hearts deviate now after Thou hast guided us, but grant us mercy from Thine own Presence; for Thou art the Grantor of bounties without measure. |
(আল ইমরান: আয়াতঃ ৮) |
| 24 | হে আমাদের পালনকর্তা! তুমি মানুষকে একদিন অবশ্যই একত্রিত করবেঃ এতে কোনই সন্দেহ নেই। নিশ্চয় আল্লাহ তাঁর ওয়াদার অন্যথা করেন না। "Our Lord! Thou art He that will gather mankind Together against a day about which there is no doubt; for Allah never fails in His promise." |
(আল ইমরান: আয়াতঃ ৯) |
| 25 | যারা বলে, হে আমাদের পালনকর্তা, আমরা ঈমান এনেছি, কাজেই আমাদের গোনাহ ক্ষমা করে দাও আর আমাদেরকে দোযখের আযাব থেকে রক্ষা কর। (Namely), those who say: "Our Lord! we have indeed believed: forgive us, then, our sins, and save us from the agony of the Fire;"- |

| 26 | তা এজন্য যে, তারা বলে থাকে যে, দোযখের আগুন আমাদের স্পর্শ করবে না; তবে সামান্য হাতে গোনা কয়েকদিনের জন্য স্পর্শ করতে পারে। নিজেদের উদ্ভাবিত ভিত্তিহীন কথায় তারা ধোকা খেয়েছে। This because they say: "The Fire shall not touch us but for a few numbered days": For their forgeries deceive them as to their own religion. |

| 27 | হে আমাদের পালনকর্তা! আমরা সে বিষয়ের প্রতি বিশ্বাস স্থাপন করেছি যা তুমি নাযিল করেছ, আমরা রসূলের অনুগত হয়েছি। অতএব, আমাদিগকে মান্যকারীদের তালিকাভুক্ত করে নাও। "Our Lord! we believe in what Thou hast revealed, and we follow the Messenger; then write us down among those who bear witness." |

| 28 | অতঃপর তোমার নিকট সত্য সংবাদ এসে যাওয়ার পর যদি এই কাহিনী সম্পর্কে তোমার সাথে কেউ বিবাদ করে, তাহলে বল-এসো, আমরা ডেকে নেই আমাদের পুত্রদের এবং তোমাদের পুত্রদের এবং আমাদের স্ত্রীদের ও তোমাদের স্ত্রীদের এবং আমাদের নিজেদের ও তোমাদের নিজেদের আর তারপর চল আমরা সবাই মিলে প্রার্থনা করি এবং তাদের প্রতি আল্লাহর অভিসম্পাত করি যারা মিথ্যাবাদী। If any one disputes in this matter with thee, now after (full) knowledge Hath come to thee, say: "Come! let us gather together,- our sons and your sons, our women and your women, ourselves and yourselves: Then let us earnestly pray, and invoke the curse of Allah on those who lie!" |

| 29 | বলুনঃ ‘হে আহলে-কিতাবগণ! একটি বিষয়ের দিকে আস-যা আমাদের মধ্যে ও তোমাদের মধ্যে সমান-যে, আমরা আল্লাহ ছাড়া অন্য কারও ইবাদত করব না, তাঁর সাথে কোন শরীক সাব্যস্ত করব না এবং একমাত্র আল্লাহকে ছাড়া কাউকে পালনকর্তা বানাব না। তারপর যদি তারা স্বীকার না করে, তাহলে বলে দাও যে, ‘সাক্ষী থাক আমরা তো অনুগত। Say: "O People of the Book! come to common terms as between us and you: That we worship none but Allah; that we associate no partners with him; that we erect not, from among ourselves, Lords and patrons other than Allah." If then they turn back, say ye: "Bear witness that we (at least) are Muslims (bowing to Allah's Will). |

| 30 | কোন কোন আহলে কিতাব এমনও রয়েছে, তোমরা যদি তাদের কাছে বহু ধন-সম্পদ আমানত রাখ, তাহলেও তা তোমাদের যথারীতি পরিশোধ করবে। আর তোদের মধ্যে অনেক এমনও রয়েছে যারা একটি দীনার গচ্ছিত রাখলেও ফেরত দেবে না-যে পর্যন্ত না তুমি তার মাথার উপর দাঁড়াতে পারবে। এটা এজন্য যে, তারা বলে রেখেছে যে, উম্মীদের অধিকার বিনষ্ট করাতে আমাদের কোন পাপ নেই। আর তারা আল্লাহ সম্পর্কে জেনে শুনেই মিথ্যা বলে। Among the People of the Book are some who, if entrusted with a hoard of gold, will (readily) pay it back; others, who, if entrusted with a single silver coin, will not repay it unless thou constantly stoodest demanding, because, they say, "there is no call on us (to keep faith) with these ignorant (Pagans)." but they tell a lie against Allah, and (well) they know it. |

| 31 | বলুন, আমরা ঈমান এনেছি আল্লাহর উপর এবং যা কিছু অবতীর্ণ হয়েছে আমাদের উপর, ইব্রাহীম, ইসমাঈল, ইসহাক, ইয়াকুব এবং তাঁদের সন্তানবর্গের উপর আর যা কিছু পেয়েছেন মূসা ও ঈসা এবং অন্যান্য নবী রসূলগণ তাঁদের পালনকর্তার পক্ষ থেকে। আমরা তাঁদের কারো মধ্যে পার্থক্য করি না। আর আমরা তাঁরই অনুগত। Say: "We believe in Allah, and in what has been revealed to us and what was revealed to Abraham, Isma'il, Isaac, Jacob, and the Tribes, and in (the Books) given to Moses, Jesus, and the prophets, from their Lord: We make no distinction between one and another among them, and to Allah do we bow our will (in Islam)." |

| 32 | তারা আর কিছুই বলেনি-শুধু বলেছে, হে আমাদের পালনকর্তা! মোচন করে দাও আমাদের পাপ এবং যা কিছু বাড়াবাড়ি হয়ে গেছে আমাদের কাজে। আর আমাদিগকে দৃঢ় রাখ এবং কাফেরদের উপর আমাদিগকে সাহায্য কর। All that they said was: "Our Lord! Forgive us our sins and anything We may have done that transgressed our duty: Establish our feet firmly, and help us against those that resist Faith." |

| 33 | অতঃপর তোমাদের উপর শোকের পর শান্তি অবতীর্ণ করলেন, যা ছিল তন্দ্রার মত। সে তন্দ্রায় তোমাদের মধ্যে কেউ কেউ ঝিমোচ্ছিল আর কেউ কেউ প্রাণের ভয়ে ভাবছিল। আল্লাহ সম্পর্কে তাদের মিথ্যা ধারণা হচ্ছিল মুর্খদের মত। তারা বলছিল আমাদের হাতে কি কিছুই করার নেই? তুমি বল, সবকিছুই আল্লাহর হাতে। তারা যা কিছু মনে লুকিয়ে রাখে-তোমার নিকট প্রকাশ করে না সে সবও। তারা বলে আমাদের হাতে যদি কিছু করার থাকতো, তাহলে আমরা এখানে নিহত হতাম না। তুমি বল, তোমরা যদি নিজেদের ঘরেও থাকতে তবুও তারা অবশ্যই বেরিয়ে আসত নিজেদের অবস্থান থেকে যাদের মৃত্যু লিখে দেয়া হয়েছে। তোমাদের বুকে যা রয়েছে তার পরীক্ষা করা ছিল আল্লাহর ইচ্ছা, আর তোমাদের অন্তরে যা কিছু রয়েছে তা পরিষ্কার করা ছিল তাঁর কাম্য। আল্লাহ মনের গোপন বিষয় জানেন। After (the excitement) of the distress, He sent down calm on a band of you overcome with slumber, while another band was stirred to anxiety by their own feelings, Moved by wrong suspicions of Allah-suspicions due to ignorance. They said: "What affair is this of ours?" Say thou: "Indeed, this affair is wholly Allah's." They hide in their minds what they dare not reveal to thee. They say (to themselves): "If we had had anything to do with this affair, We should not have been in the slaughter here." Say: "Even if you had remained in your homes, those for whom death was decreed would certainly have gone forth to the place of their death"; but (all this was) that Allah might test what is in your breasts and purge what is in your hearts. For Allah knoweth well the secrets of your hearts. |

| 34 | হে ঈমাণদারগণ! তোমরা তাদের মত হয়ো না, যারা কাফের হয়েছে এবং নিজেদের ভাই বন্ধুরা যখন কোন অভিযানে বের হয় কিংবা জেহাদে যায়, তখন তাদের সম্পর্কে বলে, তারা যদি আমাদের সাথে থাকতো, তাহলে মরতোও না আহতও হতো না। যাতে তারা এ ধারণা সৃষ্টির মাধ্যমে সংশ্লিষ্টদের মনে অনুতাপ সৃষ্টি করতে পারে। অথচ আল্লাহই জীবন দান করেন এবং মৃত্যু দেন। তোমাদের সমস্ত কাজই, তোমরা যা কিছুই কর না কেন, আল্লাহ সবকিছুৃই দেখেন। O ye who believe! Be not like the Unbelievers, who say of their brethren, when they are travelling through the Earth or engaged in fighting: "If they had stayed with us, they would not have died, or been slain." This that Allah may make it a cause of sighs and regrets in their hearts. It is Allah that gives Life and Death, and Allah sees well all that ye do. |

| 35 | ওরা হলো যে সব লোক, যারা বসে থেকে নিজেদের ভাইদের সম্বদ্ধে বলে, যদি তারা আমাদের কথা শুনত, তবে নিহত হত না। তাদেরকে বলে দিন, এবার তোমাদের নিজেদের উপর থেকে মৃত্যুকে সরিয়ে দাও, যদি তোমরা সত্যবাদী হয়ে থাক। (They are) the ones that say, (of their brethren slain), while they themselves sit (at ease): "If only they had listened to us they would not have been slain." Say: "Avert death from your own selves, if ye speak the truth." |

| 36 | যাদেরকে লোকেরা বলেছে যে, তোমাদের সাথে মোকাবেলা করার জন্য লোকেরা সমাবেশ করেছে বহু সাজ-সরঞ্জাম; তাদের ভয় কর। তখন তাদের বিশ্বাস আরও দৃঢ়তর হয়ে যায় এবং তারা বলে, আমাদের জন্য আল্লাহই যথেষ্ট; কতই না চমৎকার কামিয়াবীদানকারী। Men said to them: "A great army is gathering against you": And frightened them: But it (only) increased their Faith: They said: "For us Allah sufficeth, and He is the best disposer of affairs." |

| 37 | সে সমস্ত লোক, যারা বলে যে, আল্লাহ আমাদিগকে এমন কোন রসূলের ওপর বিশ্বাস না করতে বলে রেখেছেন যতক্ষণ না তারা আমাদের নিকট এমন কোরবানী নিয়ে আসবেন যাকে আগুন গ্রাস করে নেবে। তুমি তাদের বলে দাও, তোমাদের মাঝে আমার পূর্বে বহু রসূল নিদর্শনসমূহ এবং তোমরা যা আব্দার করেছ তা নিয়ে এসেছিলেন, তখন তোমরা কেন তাদেরকে হত্যা করলে যদি তোমরা সত্য হয়ে থাক। They (also) said: "Allah took our promise not to believe in an messenger unless He showed us a sacrifice consumed by Fire (From heaven)." Say: "There came to you messengers before me, with clear Signs and even with what ye ask for: why then did ye slay them, if ye speak the truth?" |

| 38 | হে আমাদের পালনকর্তা! নিশ্চয় তুমি যাকে দোযখে নিক্ষেপ করলে তাকে সবসময়ে অপমানিত করলে; আর জালেমদের জন্যে তো সাহায্যকারী নেই। "Our Lord! any whom Thou dost admit to the Fire, Truly Thou coverest with shame, and never will wrong-doers Find any helpers! |

| 39 | হে আমাদের পালনকর্তা! আমরা নিশ্চিতরূপে শুনেছি একজন আহবানকারীকে ঈমানের প্রতি আহবান করতে যে, তোমাদের পালনকর্তার প্রতি ঈমান আন; তাই আমরা ঈমান এনেছি। হে আমাদের পালনকর্তা! অতঃপর আমাদের সকল গোনাহ মাফ কর এবং আমাদের সকল দোষত্রুটি দুর করে দাও, আর আমাদের মৃত্যু দাও নেক লোকদের সাথে। "Our Lord! we have heard the call of one calling (Us) to Faith, 'Believe ye in the Lord,' and we have believed. Our Lord! Forgive us our sins, blot out from us our iniquities, and take to Thyself our souls in the company of the righteous. |

| 40 | হে আমাদের পালনকর্তা! আমাদেরকে দাও, যা তুমি ওয়াদা করেছ তোমার রসূলগণের মাধ্যমে এবং কিয়ামতের দিন আমাদিগকে তুমি অপমানিত করো না। নিশ্চয় তুমি ওয়াদা খেলাফ করো না। "Our Lord! Grant us what Thou didst promise unto us through Thine messengers, and save us from shame on the Day of Judgment: For Thou never breakest Thy promise." |

| 41 | কোন কোন ইহুদী তার লক্ষ্য থেকে কথার মোড় ঘুড়িয়ে নেয় এবং বলে, আমরা শুনেছি কিন্তু অমান্য করছি। তারা আরো বলে, শোন, না শোনার মত। মুখ বাঁকিয়ে দ্বীনের প্রতি তাচ্ছিল্য প্রদর্শনের উদ্দেশে বলে, রায়েনা’ (আমাদের রাখাল)। অথচ যদি তারা বলত যে, আমরা শুনেছি ও মান্য করেছি এবং (যদি বলত, ) শোন এবং আমাদের প্রতি লক্ষ্য রাখ, তবে তাই ছিল তাদের জন্য উত্তম আর সেটাই ছিল যথার্থ ও সঠিক। কিন্তু আল্লাহ তাদের প্রতি অভিসম্পাত করেছেন তাদের কুফরীর দরুন। অতএব, তারা ঈমান আনছে না, কিন্তু অতি অল্পসংখ্যক। Of the Jews there are those who displace words from their (right) places, and say: "We hear and we disobey"; and "Hear what is not Heard"; and "Ra'ina"; with a twist of their tongues and a slander to Faith. If only they had said: "What hear and we obey"; and "Do hear"; and "Do look at us"; it would have been better for them, and more proper; but Allah hath cursed them for their Unbelief; and but few of them will believe. |

| 42 | এমতাবস্থায় যদি তাদের কৃতকর্মের দরুন বিপদ আরোপিত হয়, তবে তাতে কি হল! অতঃপর তারা আপনার কাছে আল্লাহর নামে কসম খেয়ে খেয়ে ফিরে আসবে যে, মঙ্গল ও সম্প্রীতি ছাড়া আমাদের অন্য কোন উদ্দেশ্য ছিল না। How then, when they are seized by misfortune, because of the deeds which they hands have sent forth? Then their come to thee, swearing by Allah: "We meant no more than good-will and conciliation!" |
(আন নিসা: আয়াতঃ ৬২) |
| 43 | আর তোমাদের কি হল যে, তেমারা আল্লাহর রাহে লড়াই করছ না দুর্বল সেই পুরুষ, নারী ও শিশুদের পক্ষে, যারা বলে, হে আমাদের পালনকর্তা! আমাদিগকে এই জনপদ থেকে নিষ্কৃতি দান কর; এখানকার অধিবাসীরা যে, অত্যাচারী! আর তোমার পক্ষ থেকে আমাদের জন্য পক্ষালম্বনকারী নির্ধারণ করে দাও এবং তোমার পক্ষ থেকে আমাদের জন্য সাহায্যকারী নির্ধারণ করে দাও। And why should ye not fight in the cause of Allah and of those who, being weak, are ill-treated (and oppressed)?- Men, women, and children, whose cry is: "Our Lord! Rescue us from this town, whose people are oppressors; and raise for us from Thee one who will protect; and raise for us from Thee one who will help!" |

| 44 | তুমি কি সেসব লোককে দেখনি, যাদেরকে নির্দেশ দেয়া হয়েছিল যে, তোমরা নিজেদের হাতকে সংযত রাখ, নামায কায়েম কর এবং যাকাত দিতে থাক? অতঃপর যখন তাদের প্রতি জেহাদের নির্দেশ দেয়া হল, তৎক্ষণাৎ তাদের মধ্যে একদল লোক মানুষকে ভয় করতে আরম্ভ করল, যেমন করে ভয় করা হয় আল্লাহকে। এমন কি তার চেয়েও অধিক ভয়। আর বলতে লাগল, হায় পালনকর্তা, কেন আমাদের উপর যুদ্ধ ফরজ করলে! আমাদেরকে কেন আরও কিছুকাল অবকাশ দান করলে না। ( হে রসূল) তাদেরকে বলে দিন, পার্থিব ফায়দা সীমিত। আর আখেরাত পরহেযগারদের জন্য উত্তম। আর তোমাদের অধিকার একটি সূতা পরিমান ও খর্ব করা হবে না। Hast thou not turned Thy vision to those who were told to hold back their hands (from fight) but establish regular prayers and spend in regular charity? When (at length) the order for fighting was issued to them, behold! a section of them feared men as - or even more than - they should have feared Allah: They said: "Our Lord! Why hast Thou ordered us to fight? Wouldst Thou not Grant us respite to our (natural) term, near (enough)?" Say: "Short is the enjoyment of this world: the Hereafter is the best for those who do right: Never will ye be dealt with unjustly in the very least! |

| 45 | আপনার নিকট আহলে-কিতাবরা আবেদন জানায় যে, আপনি তাদের উপর আসমান থেকে লিখিত কিতাব অবতীর্ণ করিয়ে নিয়ে আসুন। বস্তুতঃ এরা মূসার কাছে এর চেয়েও বড় জিনিস চেয়েছে। বলেছে, একেবারে সামনাসামনিভাবে আমাদের আল্লাহকে দেখিয়ে দাও। অতএব, তাদের উপর বজ্রপাত হয়েছে তাদের পাপের দরুন; অতঃপর তাদের নিকট সুস্পষ্ট প্রমাণ-নিদর্শন প্রকাশিত হবার পরেও তারা গো-বৎসকে উপাস্যরূপে গ্রহণ করেছিল; তাও আমি ক্ষমা করে দিয়েছিলাম এবং আমি মূসাকে প্রকৃষ্ট প্রভাব দান করেছিলাম। The people of the Book ask thee to cause a book to descend to them from heaven: Indeed they asked Moses for an even greater (miracle), for they said: "Show us Allah in public," but they were dazed for their presumption, with thunder and lightning. Yet they worshipped the calf even after clear signs had come to them; even so we forgave them; and gave Moses manifest proofs of authority. |

| 46 | অতএব, তারা যে শাস্তিপ্রাপ্ত হয়েছিল, তা ছিল তাদেরই অঙ্গীকার ভঙ্গর জন্য এবং অন্যায়ভাবে রসূলগণকে হত্যা করার কারণে এবং তাদের এই উক্তির দরুন যে, আমাদের হৃদয় আচ্ছন্ন। অবশ্য তা নয়, বরং কুফরীর কারণে স্বয়ং আল্লাহ তাদের অন্তরের উপর মোহর এঁটে দিয়েছেন। ফলে এরা ঈমান আনে না কিন্তু অতি অল্পসংখ্যক। (They have incurred divine displeasure): In that they broke their covenant; that they rejected the signs of Allah; that they slew the Messengers in defiance of right; that they said, "Our hearts are the wrappings (which preserve Allah's Word; We need no more)";- Nay, Allah hath set the seal on their hearts for their blasphemy, and little is it they believe;- |

| 47 | হে আহলে-কিতাবগণ! তোমাদের কাছে আমার রসূল আগমণ করেছেন, যিনি পয়গম্বরদের বিরতির পর তোমাদের কাছে পুঙ্খানুপুঙ্খ বর্ণনা করেন-যাতে তোমরা একথা বলতে না পার যে, আমাদের কাছে কোন সুসংবাদদাতা ও ভীতিপ্রদর্শক আগমন করে নি। অতএব, তোমাদের কাছে সুসংবাদদাতা ও ভীতি প্রদর্শক আগমন করেননি। অতএব, তোমাদের কাছে সুসংবাদদাতা ও ভয় প্রদর্শক এসে গেছেন। আল্লাহ সবকিছুর উপর শক্তিমান। O People of the Book! Now hath come unto you, making (things) clear unto you, Our Messenger, after the break in (the series of) our messengers, lest ye should say: "There came unto us no bringer of glad tidings and no warner (from evil)": But now hath come unto you a bringer of glad tidings and a warner (from evil). And Allah hath power over all things. |

| 48 | মূসা বললঃ হে আমার পালনকর্তা, আমি শুধু নিজের উপর ও নিজের ভাইয়ের উপর ক্ষমতা রাখি। অতএব, আপনি আমাদের মধ্যে ও এ অবাধ্য সম্প্রদায়ের মধ্যে সম্পর্কচ্ছেদ করুন। He said: "O my Lord! I have power only over myself and my brother: so separate us from this rebellious people!" |
(আল মায়িদাহ: আয়াতঃ ২৫) |
| 49 | বলুনঃ হে আহলে কিতাবগণ, আমাদের সাথে তোমাদের এছাড়া কি শত্রুতা যে, আমরা বিশ্বাস স্থাপন করেছি আল্লাহর প্রতি, আমাদের উপর অবতীর্ণ গ্রন্থের প্রতি এবং পূর্বে অবতীর্ণ গ্রন্থের প্রতি। আর তোমাদের অধিকাংশই নাফরমান। Say: "O people of the Book! Do ye disapprove of us for no other reason than that we believe in Allah, and the revelation that hath come to us and that which came before (us), and (perhaps) that most of you are rebellious and disobedient?" |

| 50 | আর তারা রসূলের প্রতি যা অবতীর্ণ হয়েছে, তা যখন শুনে, তখন আপনি তাদের চোখ অশ্রু সজল দেখতে পাবেন; এ কারণে যে, তারা সত্যকে চিনে নিয়েছে। তারা বলেঃ হে আমাদের প্রতি পালক, আমরা মুসলমান হয়ে গেলাম। অতএব, আমাদেরকেও মান্যকারীদের তালিকাভুক্ত করে নিন। And when they listen to the revelation received by the Messenger, thou wilt see their eyes overflowing with tears, for they recognise the truth: they pray: "Our Lord! we believe; write us down among the witnesses. |

| 51 | আমাদের কি ওযর থাকতে পারে যে, আমরা আল্লাহর প্রতি এবং যে সত্য আমাদের কাছে এসেছে, তৎপ্রতি বিশ্বাস স্থাপন করব না এবং এ আশা করবো না যে, আমদের প্রতিপালক আমাদেরকে সৎ লোকদের সাথে প্রবিষ্ট করবেন? "What cause can we have not to believe in Allah and the truth which has come to us, seeing that we long for our Lord to admit us to the company of the righteous?" |
(আল মায়িদাহ: আয়াতঃ ৮৪) |
| 52 | যখন তাদেরকে বলা হয় যে, আল্লাহর নাযিলকৃত বিধান এবং রসূলের দিকে এস, তখন তারা বলে, আমাদের জন্যে তাই যথেষ্ট, যার উপর আমরা আমাদের বাপ-দাদাকে পেয়েছি। যদি তাদের বাপ দাদারা কোন জ্ঞান না রাখে এবং হেদায়েত প্রাপ্ত না হয় তবুও কি তারা তাই করবে? When it is said to them: "Come to what Allah hath revealed; come to the Messenger": They say: "Enough for us are the ways we found our fathers following." what! even though their fathers were void of knowledge and guidance? |

| 53 | অতঃপর যদি জানা যায় যে, উভয় ওসি কোন গোনাহে জড়িত রয়েছে, তবে যাদের বিরুদ্ধে গোনাহ হয়েছিল, তাদের মধ্য থেকে মৃতু ব্যক্তির নিকটতম দু’ব্যক্তি তাদের স্থলাভিষিক্ত হবে। অতঃপর আল্লাহর নামে কসম খাবে যে, অবশ্যই আমাদের সাক্ষ্য তাদের সাক্ষ্যর চাইতে অধিক সত্য এবং আমরা সীমা অতিক্রম করিনি। এমতাবস্থায় আমরা অবশ্যই অত্যাচারী হব। But if it gets known that these two were guilty of the sin (of perjury), let two others stand forth in their places,- nearest in kin from among those who claim a lawful right: let them swear by Allah: "We affirm that our witness is truer than that of those two, and that we have not trespassed (beyond the truth): if we did, behold! the wrong be upon us!" |

| 54 | যখন হাওয়ারীরা বললঃ হে মরিয়ম তনয় ঈসা, আপনার পালনকর্তা কি এরূপ করতে পারেন যে, আমাদের জন্যে আকাশ থেকে খাদ্যভর্তি খাঞ্চা অবতরণ করে দেবেন? তিনি বললেনঃ যদি তোমরা ঈমানদার হও, তবে আল্লাহকে ভয় কর। Behold! the disciples, said: "O Jesus the son of Mary! can thy Lord send down to us a table set (with viands) from heaven?" Said Jesus: "Fear Allah, if ye have faith." |

| 55 | তারা বললঃ আমরা তা থেকে খেতে চাই; আমাদের অন্তর পরিতৃপ্ত হবে; আমরা জেনে নেব যে, আপনি সত্য বলেছেন এবং আমরা সাক্ষ্যদাতা হয়ে যাব। They said: "We only wish to eat thereof and satisfy our hearts, and to know that thou hast indeed told us the truth; and that we ourselves may be witnesses to the miracle." |

| 56 | ঈসা ইবনে মরিয়ম বললেনঃ হে আল্লাহ আমাদের পালনকর্তা আমাদের প্রতি আকাশ থেকে খাদ্যভর্তি খাঞ্চা অবতরণ করুন। তা আমাদের জন্যে অর্থাৎ, আমাদের প্রথম ও পরবর্তী সবার জন্যে আনন্দোৎসব হবে এবং আপনার পক্ষ থেকে একটি নিদর্শন হবে। আপনি আমাদের রুযী দিন। আপনিই শ্রেষ্ট রুযীদাতা। Said Jesus the son of Mary: "O Allah our Lord! Send us from heaven a table set (with viands), that there may be for us - for the first and the last of us - a solemn festival and a sign from thee; and provide for our sustenance, for thou art the best Sustainer (of our needs)." |

| 57 | অতঃপর তাদের কোন অপরিচ্ছন্নতা থাকবে না; তবে এটুকুই যে তারা বলবে আমাদের প্রতিপালক আল্লাহর কসম, আমরা মুশরিক ছিলাম না। There will then be (left) no subterfuge for them but to say: "By Allah our Lord, we were not those who joined gods with Allah." |

| 58 | তারা বলেঃ আমাদের এ পার্থিব জীবনই জীবন। আমাদেরকে পুনরায় জীবিত হতে হবে না। And they (sometimes) say: "There is nothing except our life on this earth, and never shall we be raised up again." |

| 59 | আর যদি আপনি দেখেন; যখন তাদেরকে প্রতিপালকের সামনে দাঁড় করানো হবে। তিনি বলবেনঃ এটা কি বাস্তব সত্য নয়? তারা বলবেঃ হঁ্যা আমাদের প্রতিপালকের কসম। তিনি বলবেনঃ অতএব, স্বীয় কুফরের কারণে শাস্তি আস্বাদন কর। If thou couldst but see when they are confronted with their Lord! He will say: "Is not this the truth?" They will say: "Yea, by our Lord!" He will say: "Taste ye then the penalty, because ye rejected Faith." |

| 60 | আর এভাবেই আমি কিছু লোককে কিছু লোক দ্বারা পরীক্ষায় ফেলেছি যাতে তারা বলে যে, এদেরকেই কি আমাদের সবার মধ্য থেকে আল্লাহ স্বীয় অনুগ্রহ দান করেছেন? আল্লাহ কি কৃতজ্ঞদের সম্পর্কে সুপরিজ্ঞাত নন ? Thus did We try some of them by comparison with others, that they should say: "Is it these then that Allah hath favoured from amongst us?" Doth not Allah know best those who are grateful? |

| 61 | আপনি বলুনঃ কে তোমাদেরকে স্থল ও জলের অন্ধকার থেকে উদ্ধার করেন, যখন তোমরা তাঁকে বিনীতভাবে ও গোপনে আহবান কর যে, যদি আপনি আমাদের কে এ থেকে উদ্ধার করে নেন, তবে আমরা অবশ্যই কৃতজ্ঞদের অন্তর্ভুক্ত হয়ে যাব। Say: "Who is it that delivereth you from the dark recesses of land and sea, when ye call upon Him in humility and silent terror: 'If He only delivers us from these (dangers), (we vow) we shall truly show our gratitude'?" |

| 62 | আপনি বলে দিনঃ আমরা কি আল্লাহ ব্যতীত এমন বস্তুকে আহবান করব, যে আমাদের উপকার করতে পারে না এবং ক্ষতিও করতে পারে না এবং আমরা কি পশ্চাৎপদে ফিরে যাব, এরপর যে, আল্লাহ আমাদেরকে পথ প্রদর্শন করেছেন? ঐ ব্যক্তির মত, যাকে শয়তানরা বনভুমিতে বিপথগামী করে দিয়েছে-সে উদভ্রান্ত হয়ে ঘোরাফেরা করছে। তার সহচররা তাকে পথের দিকে ডেকে বলছেঃ আস, আমাদের কাছে। আপনি বলে দিনঃ নিশ্চয় আল্লাহর পথই সুপথ। আমরা আদিষ্ট হয়েছি যাতে স্বীয় পালনকর্তা আজ্ঞাবহ হয়ে যাই। Say: "Shall we indeed call on others besides Allah,- things that can do us neither good nor harm,- and turn on our heels after receiving guidance from Allah? - like one whom the evil ones have made into a fool, wandering bewildered through the earth, his friends calling, come to us', (vainly) guiding him to the path." Say: "Allah's guidance is the (only) guidance, and we have been directed to submit ourselves to the Lord of the worlds;- |

| 63 | যেদিন আল্লাহ সবাইকে একত্রিত করবেন, হে জিন সম্প্রদায়, তোমরা মানুষদের মধ্যে অনেককে অনুগামী করে নিয়েছ। তাদের মানব বন্ধুরা বলবেঃ হে আমাদের পালনকর্তা, আমরা পরস্পরে পরস্পরের মাধ্যমে ফল লাভ করেছি। আপনি আমাদের জন্যে যে সময় নির্ধারণ করেছিলেন, আমরা তাতে উপনীত হয়েছি। আল্লাহ বলবেনঃ আগুন হল তোমাদের বাসস্থান। তথায় তোমরা চিরকাল অবস্থান করবে; কিন্তু যখন চাইবেন আল্লাহ। নিশ্চয় আপনার পালনকর্তা প্রজ্ঞাময়, মহাজ্ঞানী। One day will He gather them all together, (and say): "O ye assembly of Jinns! Much (toll) did ye take of men." Their friends amongst men will say: "Our Lord! we made profit from each other: but (alas!) we reached our term - which thou didst appoint for us." He will say: "The Fire be your dwelling-place: you will dwell therein for ever, except as Allah willeth." for thy Lord is full of wisdom and knowledge. |

| 64 | আল্লাহ যেসব শস্যক্ষেত্র ও জীবজন্তু সৃষ্টি করেছেন, সেগুলো থেকে তারা এক অংশ আল্লাহর জন্য নির্ধারণ করে অতঃপর নিজ ধারণা অনুসারে বলে এটা আল্লাহর এবং এটা আমাদের অংশীদারদের। অতঃপর যে অংশ তাদের অংশীদারদের, তা তো আল্লাহর দিকে পৌঁছে না এবং যা আল্লাহর তা তাদের উপাস্যদের দিকে পৌছে যায়। তাদের বিচার কতই না মন্দ। Out of what Allah hath produced in abundance in tilth and in cattle, they assigned Him a share: they say, according to their fancies: "This is for Allah, and this" - for our "partners"! but the share of their" partners "reacheth not Allah, whilst the share of Allah reacheth their "partners"! evil (and unjust) is their assignment! |

| 65 | তারা বলেঃ এসব চতুষ্পদ জন্তুর পেটে যা আছে, তা বিশেষ ভাবে আমাদের পুরুষদের জন্যে এবং আমাদের মহিলাদের জন্যে তা হারাম। যদি তা মৃত হয়, তবে তার প্রাপক হিসাবে সবাই সমান। অচিরেই তিনি তাদেরকে তাদের বর্ণনার শাস্তি দিবেন। তিনি প্রজ্ঞাময়, মহাজ্ঞানী। They say: "What is in the wombs of such and such cattle is specially reserved (for food) for our men, and forbidden to our women; but if it is still-born, then all have share therein. For their (false) attribution (of superstitions to Allah), He will soon punish them: for He is full of wisdom and knowledge. |

| 66 | এখন মুশরেকরা বলবেঃ যদি আল্লাহ ইচ্ছা করতেন, তবে না আমরা শিরক করতাম, না আমাদের বাপ দাদারা এবং না আমরা কোন বস্তুকে হারাম করতাম। এমনিভাবে তাদের পূর্ববর্তীরা মিথ্যারোপ করেছে, এমন কি তারা আমার শাস্তি আস্বাদন করেছে। আপনি বলুনঃ তোমাদের কাছে কি কোন প্রমাণ আছে যা আমাদেরকে দেখাতে পার। তোমরা শুধুমাত্র আন্দাজের অনুসরণ কর এবং তোমরা শুধু অনুমান করে কথা বল। Those who give partners (to Allah) will say: "If Allah had wished, we should not have given partners to Him nor would our fathers; nor should we have had any taboos." So did their ancestors argue falsely, until they tasted of Our wrath. Say: "Have ye any (certain) knowledge? If so, produce it before us. Ye follow nothing but conjecture: ye do nothing but lie." |

| 67 | এ জন্যে যে, কখনও তোমরা বলতে শুরু করঃ গ্রন্থ তো কেবল আমাদের পূর্ববর্তী দু'সম্প্রদায়ের প্রতিই অবতীর্ণ হয়েছে এবং আমরা সেগুলোর পাঠ ও পঠন সম্পর্কে কিছুই জানতাম না। Lest ye should say: "The Book was sent down to two Peoples before us, and for our part, we remained unacquainted with all that they learned by assiduous study:" |

| 68 | কিংবা বলতে শুরু করঃ যদি আমাদের প্রতি কোন গ্রন্থ অবতীর্ণ হত, আমরা এদের চাইতে অধিক পথপ্রাপ্ত হতাম। অতএব, তোমাদের পালনকর্তার পক্ষ থেকে তোমাদের কাছে সুষ্পষ্ট প্রমাণ, হেদায়েত ও রহমত এসে গেছে। অতঃপর সে ব্যক্তির চাইতে অধিক অনাচারী কে হবে, যে আল্লাহর আয়াত সমূহকে মিথ্যা বলে এবং গা বাঁচিয়ে চলে। অতি সত্ত্বর আমি তাদেরকে শাস্তি দেব। যারা আমার আয়াত সমূহ থেকে গা বাঁচিয়ে চলে-জঘন্য শাস্তি তাদের গা বাঁচানোর কারণে। Or lest ye should say: "If the Book had only been sent down to us, we should have followed its guidance better than they." Now then hath come unto you a clear (sign) from your Lord,- and a guide and a mercy: then who could do more wrong than one who rejecteth Allah's signs, and turneth away therefrom? In good time shall We requite those who turn away from Our signs, with a dreadful penalty, for their turning away. |

| 69 | তারা উভয়ে বললঃ হে আমাদের পালনকর্তা আমরা নিজেদের প্রতি জুলম করেছি। যদি আপনি আমাদেরকে ক্ষমা না করেন এবং আমাদের প্রতি অনুগ্রহ না করেন, তবে আমরা অবশ্যই অবশ্যই ধ্বংস হয়ে যাব। They said: "Our Lord! We have wronged our own souls: If thou forgive us not and bestow not upon us Thy Mercy, we shall certainly be lost." |

| 70 | তারা যখন কোন মন্দ কাজ করে, তখন বলে আমরা বাপ-দাদাকে এমনি করতে দেখেছি এবং আল্লাহও আমাদেরকে এ নির্দেশই দিয়েছেন। আল্লাহ মন্দকাজের আদেশ দেন না। এমন কথা আল্লাহর প্রতি কেন আরোপ কর, যা তোমরা জান না। When they do aught that is shameful, they say: "We found our fathers doing so"; and "Allah commanded us thus": Say: "Nay, Allah never commands what is shameful: do ye say of Allah what ye know not?" |

| 71 | অতঃপর ঐ ব্যক্তির চাইতে অধিক জালেম কে, যে আল্লাহর প্রতি মিথ্যা আরোপ করে অথবা তার নির্দেশাবলীকে মিথ্যা বলে? তারা তাদের গ্রন্থে লিখিত অংশ পেয়ে যাবে। এমন কি, যখন তাদের কাছে আমার প্রেরিত ফেরশতারা প্রাণ নেওয়ার জন্যে পৌছে, তখন তারা বলে; তারা কোথায় গেল, যাদের কে তোমরা আল্লাহ ব্যতীত আহবান করতে? তারা উত্তর দেবেঃ আমাদের কাছ থেকে উধাও হয়ে গেছে, তারা নিজেদের সম্পর্কে স্বীকার করবে যে, তারা অবশ্যই কাফের ছিল। Who is more unjust than one who invents a lie against Allah or rejects His Signs? For such, their portion appointed must reach them from the Book (of decrees): until, when our messengers (of death) arrive and take their souls, they say: "Where are the things that ye used to invoke besides Allah?" They will reply, "They have left us in the lurch," And they will bear witness against themselves, that they had rejected Allah. |

| 72 | আল্লাহ বলবেনঃ তোমাদের পূর্বে জিন ও মানবের যেসব সম্প্রদায় চলে গেছে, তাদের সাথে তোমরাও দোযখে যাও। যখন এক সম্প্রদায় প্রবেশ করবে; তখন অন্য সম্প্রদায়কে অভিসম্পাত করবে। এমনকি, যখন তাতে সবাই পতিত হবে, তখন পরবর্তীরা পূর্ববর্তীদের সম্পর্কে বলবেঃ হে আমাদের প্রতিপালক এরাই আমাদেরকে বিপথগামী করেছিল। অতএব, আপনি তাদেরকে দ্বিগুণ শাস্তি দিন। আল্লাহ বলবেন প্রত্যেকেরই দ্বিগুণ; তোমরা জান না। He will say: "Enter ye in the company of the peoples who passed away before you - men and jinns, - into the Fire." Every time a new people enters, it curses its sister-people (that went before), until they follow each other, all into the Fire. Saith the last about the first: "Our Lord! it is these that misled us: so give them a double penalty in the Fire." He will say: "Doubled for all": but this ye do not understand. |

| 73 | পূর্ববর্তীরা পরবর্তীদেরকে বলবেঃ তাহলে আমাদের উপর তোমাদের কোন শ্রেষ্ঠত্ব নেই অতএব, শাস্তি আস্বাদন কর স্বীয় কর্মের কারণে। Then the first will say to the last: "See then! No advantage have ye over us; so taste ye of the penalty for all that ye did!" |

| 74 | তাদের অন্তরে যা কিছু দুঃখ ছিল, আমি তা বের করে দেব। তাদের তলদেশ দিয়ে নির্ঝরণী প্রবাহিত হবে। তারা বলবেঃ আল্লাহ শোকর, যিনি আমাদেরকে এ পর্যন্ত পৌছিয়েছেন। আমরা কখনও পথ পেতাম না, যদি আল্লাহ আমাদেরকে পথ প্রদর্শন না করতেন। আমাদের প্রতিপালকের রসূল আমাদের কাছে সত্যকথা নিয়ে এসেছিলেন। আওয়াজ আসবেঃ এটি জান্নাত। তোমরা এর উত্তরাধিকারী হলে তোমাদের কর্মের প্রতিদানে। And We shall remove from their hearts any lurking sense of injury;- beneath them will be rivers flowing;- and they shall say: "Praise be to Allah, who hath guided us to this (felicity): never could we have found guidance, had it not been for the guidance of Allah: indeed it was the truth, that the messengers of our Lord brought unto us." And they shall hear the cry: "Behold! the garden before you! Ye have been made its inheritors, for your deeds (of righteousness)." |

| 75 | জান্নাতীরা দোযখীদেরকে ডেকে বলবেঃ আমাদের সাথে আমাদের প্রতিপালক যে ওয়াদা করেছিলেন, তা আমরা সত্য পেয়েছি? অতএব, তোমরাও কি তোমাদের প্রতিপালকের ওয়াদা সত্য পেয়েছ? তারা বলবেঃ হ্যাঁ। অতঃপর একজন ঘোষক উভয়ের মাঝখানে ঘোষণা করবেঃ আল্লাহর অভিসম্পাত জালেমদের উপর। The Companions of the Garden will call out to the Companions of the Fire: "We have indeed found the promises of our Lord to us true: Have you also found Your Lord's promises true?" They shall say, "Yes"; but a crier shall proclaim between them: "The curse of Allah is on the wrong-doers;- |

| 76 | যখন তাদের দৃষ্টি দোযখীদের উপর পড়বে, তখন বলবেঃ হে আমাদের প্রতিপালক, আমাদেরকে এ জালেমদের সাথী করো না। When their eyes shall be turned towards the Companions of the Fire, they will say: "Our Lord! send us not to the company of the wrong-doers." |

| 77 | দোযখীরা জান্নাতীদেরকে ডেকে বলবেঃ আমাদের উপর সামান্য পানি নিক্ষেপ কর অথবা আল্লাহ তোমাদেরকে যে রুযী দিয়েছেন, তা থেকেই কিছু দাও। তারা বলবেঃ আল্লাহ এই উভয় বস্তু কাফেরদের জন্যে নিষিদ্ধ করেছেন, The Companions of the Fire will call to the Companions of the Garden: "Pour down to us water or anything that Allah doth provide for your sustenance." They will say: "Both these things hath Allah forbidden to those who rejected Him." |

| 78 | তারা কি এখন এ অপেক্ষায়ই আছে যে, এর বিষয়বস্তু প্রকাশিত হোক? যেদিন এর বিষয়বস্তু প্রকাশিত হবে, সেদিন পূর্বে যারা একে ভূলে গিয়েছিল, তারা বলবেঃ বাস্তবিকই আমাদের প্রতিপালকের পয়গম্বরগণ সত্যসহ আগমন করেছিলেন। অতএব, আমাদের জন্যে কোন সুপারিশকারী আছে কি যে, সুপারিশ করবে অথবা আমাদেরকে পুনঃ প্রেরণ করা হলে আমরা পূর্বে যা করতাম তার বিপরীত কাজ করে আসতাম। নিশ্চয় তারা নিজেদেরকে ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত করেছে। তারা মনগড়া যা বলত, তা উধাও হয়ে যাবে। Do they just wait for the final fulfilment of the event? On the day the event is finally fulfilled, those who disregarded it before will say: "The messengers of our Lord did indeed bring true (tidings). Have we no intercessors now to intercede on our behalf? Or could we be sent back? then should we behave differently from our behaviour in the past." In fact they will have lost their souls, and the things they invented will leave them in the lurch. |

| 79 | তারা বললঃ তুমি কি আমাদের কাছে এজন্যে এসেছ যে আমরা এক আল্লাহর এবাদত করি এবং আমাদের বাপ-দাদা যাদের পূজা করত, তাদেরকে ছেড়ে দেই? অতএব নিয়ে আস আমাদের কাছে যাদ্দ্বারা আমাদেরকে ভয় দেখাচ্ছ, যদি তুমি সত্যবাদী হও। They said: "Comest thou to us, that we may worship Allah alone, and give up the cult of our fathers? bring us what thou threatenest us with, if so be that thou tellest the truth!" |

| 80 | অতঃপর তারা উষ্ট্রীকে হত্যা করল এবং স্বীয় প্রতিপালকের আদেশ অমান্য করল। তারা বললঃ হে ছালেহ, নিয়ে এস যদ্দ্বারা আমাদেরকে ভয় দেখাতে, যদি তুমি রসূল হয়ে থাক। Then they ham-strung the she-camel, and insolently defied the order of their Lord, saying: "O Salih! bring about thy threats, if thou art a messenger (of Allah)!" |

| 81 | আর যদি তোমাদের একদল ঐ বিষয়ের প্রতি বিশ্বাস স্থাপন করে যা নিয়ে আমি প্রেরিত হয়েছি এবং একদল বিশ্বাস স্থাপন করে যা নিয়ে আমি প্রেরিত হয়েছি এবং একদল বিশ্বাস স্থাপন না করে, তবে ছবর কর যে পর্যন্ত আল্লাহ আমাদের মধ্যে মীমাংসা না করে দেন। তিনিই শ্রেষ্ট মীমাংসাকারী। "And if there is a party among you who believes in the message with which I have been sent, and a party which does not believe, hold yourselves in patience until Allah doth decide between us: for He is the best to decide. |

| 82 | তার সম্প্রদায়ের দাম্ভিক সর্দাররা বললঃ হে শোয়ায়েব, আমরা অবশ্যই তোমাকে এবং তোমার সাথে বিশ্বাস স্থাপনকারীদেরকে শহর থেকে বের করে দেব অথবা তোমরা আমাদের ধর্মে প্রত্যাবর্তন করবে। শোয়ায়েব বললঃ আমরা অপছন্দ করলেও কি ? The leaders, the arrogant party among his people, said: "O Shu'aib! we shall certainly drive thee out of our city - (thee) and those who believe with thee; or else ye (thou and they) shall have to return to our ways and religion." He said: "What! even though we do detest (them)? |

| 83 | আমরা আল্লাহর প্রতি মিথ্যা অপবাদকারী হয়ে যাব যদি আমরা তোমাদের ধর্মে প্রত্যাবর্তন করি, অথচ তিনি আমাদেরকে এ থেকে মুক্তি দিয়েছেন। আমাদের কাজ নয় এ ধর্মে প্রত্যাবর্তন করা, কিন্তু আমাদের প্রতি পালক আল্লাহ যদি চান। আমাদের প্রতিপালক প্রত্যেক বস্তুকে স্বীয় জ্ঞান দ্বারা বেষ্টন করে আছেন। আল্লাহর প্রতিই আমরা ভরসা করেছি। হে আমাদের প্রতিপালক আমাদের ও আমাদের সম্প্রদায়ের মধ্যে ফয়সালা করে ছিল যথার্থ ফয়সালা। আপনিই শ্রেষ্টতম ফসলা ফয়সালাকারী। "We should indeed invent a lie against Allah, if we returned to your ways after Allah hath rescued us therefrom; nor could we by any manner of means return thereto unless it be as in the will and plan of Allah, Our Lord. Our Lord can reach out to the utmost recesses of things by His knowledge. In the Allah is our trust. our Lord! decide Thou between us and our people in truth, for Thou art the best to decide." |

| 84 | অতঃপর অকল্যাণের স্থলে তা কল্যাণে বদলে দিয়েছে। এমনকি তারা অনেক বেড়ে গিয়েছি এবং বলতে শুরু করেছে, আমাদের বাপ-দাদাদের উপরও এমন আনন্দ-বেদনা এসেছে। অতঃপর আমি তাদেরকে পাকড়াও করেছি এমন আকস্মিকভাবে যে তারা টেরও পায়নি। Then We changed their suffering into prosperity, until they grew and multiplied, and began to say: "Our fathers (too) were touched by suffering and affluence"... Behold! We called them to account of a sudden, while they realised not (their peril). |

| 85 | বস্তুতঃ যাদুকররা এসে ফেরাউনের কাছে উপস্থিত হল। তারা বলল, আমাদের জন্যে কি কোন পারিশ্রমিক নির্ধারিত আছে, যদি আমরা জয়লাভ করি? So there came the sorcerers to Pharaoh: They said, "of course we shall have a (suitable) reward if we win!" |

| 86 | তারা বলল, আমাদেরকে তো মৃত্যুর পর নিজেদের পরওয়ারদেগারের নিকট ফিরে যেতেই হবে। They said: "For us, We are but sent back unto our Lord: |

| 87 | বস্তুতঃ আমাদের সাথে তোমার শত্রুতা তো এ কারণেই যে, আমরা ঈমান এনেছি আমাদের পরওয়ারদেগারের নিদর্শনসমূহের প্রতি যখন তা আমাদের নিকট পৌঁছেছে। হে আমাদের পরওয়ারদেগার আমাদের জন্য ধৈর্য্যের দ্বার খুলে দাও এবং আমাদেরকে মুসলমান হিসাবে মৃত্যু দান কর। "But thou dost wreak thy vengeance on us simply because we believed in the Signs of our Lord when they reached us! Our Lord! pour out on us patience and constancy, and take our souls unto thee as Muslims (who bow to thy will)! |

| 88 | তারা বলল, আমাদের কষ্ট ছিল তোমার আসার পূর্বে এবং তোমার আসার পরে। তিনি বললেন, তোমাদের পরওয়ারদেগার শীঘ্রই তোমাদের শক্রদের ধ্বংস করে দেবেন এবং তোমাদেরকে দেশে প্রতিনিধিত্ব দান করবেন। তারপর দেখবেন, তোমরা কেমন কাজ কর। They said: "We have had (nothing but) trouble, both before and after thou camest to us." He said: "It may be that your Lord will destroy your enemy and make you inheritors in the earth; that so He may try you by your deeds." |

| 89 | অতঃপর যখন শুভদিন ফিরে আসে, তখন তারা বলতে আরম্ভ করে যে, এটাই আমাদের জন্য উপযোগী। আর যদি অকল্যাণ এসে উপস্থিত হয় তবে তাতে মূসার এবং তাঁর সঙ্গীদের অলক্ষণ বলে অভিহিত করে। শুনে রাখ তাদের অলক্ষণ যে, আল্লাহরই এলেমে রয়েছে, অথচ এরা জানে না। But when good (times) came, they said, "This is due to us;" When gripped by calamity, they ascribed it to evil omens connected with Moses and those with him! Behold! in truth the omens of evil are theirs in Allah's sight, but most of them do not understand! |

| 90 | তারা আরও বলতে লাগল, আমাদের উপর জাদু করার জন্য তুমি যে নিদর্শনই নিয়ে আস না কেন আমরা কিন্তু তোমার উপর ঈমান আনছি না। They said (to Moses): "Whatever be the Signs thou bringest, to work therewith thy sorcery on us, we shall never believe in thee. |

| 91 | আর তাদের উপর যখন কোন আযাব পড়ে তখন বলে, হে মূসা আমাদের জন্য তোমার পরওয়ারদেগারের নিকট সে বিষয়ে দোয়া কর যা তিনি তোমার সাথে ওয়াদা করে রেখেছেন। যদি তুমি আমাদের উপর থেকে এ আযাব সরিয়ে দাও, তবে অবশ্যই আমরা ঈমান আনব তোমার উপর এবং তোমার সাথে বনী-ইসরাঈলদেরকে যেতে দেব। Every time the penalty fell on them, they said: "O Moses! on your behalf call on thy Lord in virtue of his promise to thee: If thou wilt remove the penalty from us, we shall truly believe in thee, and we shall send away the Children of Israel with thee." |

| 92 | বস্তুতঃ আমি সাগর পার করে দিয়েছি বনী-ইসরাঈলদিগকে। তখন তারা এমন এক সম্প্রদায়ের কাছে গিয়ে পৌছাল, যারা স্বহস্তনির্মিত মূর্তিপুজায় নিয়োজিত ছিল। তারা বলতে লাগল, হে মূসা; আমাদের উপাসনার জন্যও তাদের মূর্তির মতই একটি মূর্তি নির্মাণ করে দিন। তিনি বললেন, তোমাদের মধ্যে বড়ই অজ্ঞতা রয়েছে। We took the Children of Israel (with safety) across the sea. They came upon a people devoted entirely to some idols they had. They said: "O Moses! fashion for us a god like unto the gods they have." He said: "Surely ye are a people without knowledge. |

| 93 | অতঃপর যখন তারা অনুতপ্ত হল এবং বুঝতে পারল যে, আমরা নিশ্চিতই গোমরাহ হয়ে পড়েছি, তখন বলতে লাগল, আমাদের প্রতি যদি আমাদের পরওয়ারদেগার করুণা না করেন, তবে অবশ্যই আমরা ধবংস হয়ে যাব। When they repented, and saw that they had erred, they said: "If our Lord have not mercy upon us and forgive us, we shall indeed be of those who perish." |

| 94 | মূসা বললেন, হে আমার পরওয়ারদেগার, ক্ষমা কর আমাকে আর আমার ভাইকে এবং আমাদেরকে তোমার রহমতের অন্তর্ভুক্ত কর। তুমি যে সর্বাধিক করুণাময়। Moses prayed: "O my Lord! forgive me and my brother! admit us to Thy mercy! for Thou art the Most Merciful of those who show mercy!" |

| 95 | আর মূসা বেছে নিলেন নিজের সম্প্রদায় থেকে সত্তর জন লোক আমার প্রতিশ্রুত সময়ের জন্য। তারপর যখন তাদেরকে ভূমিকম্প পাকড়াও করল, তখন বললেন, হে আমার পরওয়ারদেগার, তুমি যদি ইচ্ছা করতে, তবে তাদেরকে আগেই ধ্বংস করে দিতে এবং আমাকেও। আমাদেরকে কি সে কর্মের কারণে ধ্বংস করছ, যা আমার সম্প্রদায়ের নির্বোধ লোকেরা করেছে? এসবই তোমার পরীক্ষা; তুমি যাকে ইচ্ছা এতে পথ ভ্রষ্ট করবে এবং যাকে ইচ্ছা সরলপথে রাখবে। তুমি যে আমাদের রক্ষক-সুতরাং আমাদেরকে ক্ষমা করে দাও এবং আমাদের উপর করুনা কর। তাছাড়া তুমিই তো সর্বাধিক ক্ষমাকারী। And Moses chose seventy of his people for Our place of meeting: when they were seized with violent quaking, he prayed: "O my Lord! if it had been Thy will Thou couldst have destroyed, long before, both them and me: wouldst Thou destroy us for the deeds of the foolish ones among us? this is no more than Thy trial: by it Thou causest whom Thou wilt to stray, and Thou leadest whom Thou wilt into the right path. Thou art our Protector: so forgive us and give us Thy mercy; for Thou art the best of those who forgive. |

| 96 | আর পৃথিবীতে এবং আখেরাতে আমাদের জন্য কল্যাণ লিখে দাও। আমরা তোমার দিকে প্রত্যাবর্তন করছি। আল্লাহ তা’আলা বললেন, আমার আযাব তারই উপর পরিব্যাপ্ত। সুতরাং তা তাদের জন্য লিখে দেব যারা ভয় রাখে, যাকাত দান করে এবং যারা আমার আয়তসমুহের উপর বিশ্বাস স্থাপন করে। "And ordain for us that which is good, in this life and in the Hereafter: for we have turned unto Thee." He said: "With My punishment I visit whom I will; but My mercy extendeth to all things. That (mercy) I shall ordain for those who do right, and practise regular charity, and those who believe in Our signs;- |

| 97 | আর যখন তাদের প্রতি নির্দেশ হল যে, তোমরা এ নগরীতে বসবাস কর এবং খাও তা থেকে যেখান থেকে ইচ্ছা এবং বল, আমাদের ক্ষমা করুন। আর দরজা দিয়ে প্রবেশ কর প্রণত অবস্থায়। তবে আমি ক্ষমা করে দেব তোমাদের পাপসমুহ। অবশ্য আমি সৎকর্মীদিগকে অতিরিক্ত দান করব। And remember it was said to them: "Dwell in this town and eat therein as ye wish, but say the word of humility and enter the gate in a posture of humility: We shall forgive you your faults; We shall increase (the portion of) those who do good." |

| 98 | তারপর তাদের পেছনে এসেছে কিছু অপদার্থ, যারা উত্তরাধিকারী হয়েছে কিতাবের; তারা নিকৃষ্ট পার্থিব উপকরণ আহরণ করছে এবং বলছে, আমাদের ক্ষমা করে দেয়া হবে। বস্তুতঃ এমনি ধরনের উপকরণ যদি আবারো তাদের সামনে উপস্থিত হয়, তবে তাও তুলে নেবে। তাদের কাছথেকে কিতাবে কি অঙ্গীকার নেয়া হয়নি যে, আল্লাহর প্রতি সত্য ছাড়া কিছু বলবে না? অথচ তারা সে সবই পাঠ করেছে, যা তাতে লেখা রয়েছে। বস্তুতঃ আখেরাতের আলয় ভীতদের জন্য উত্তম-তোমরা কি তা বোঝ না ? After them succeeded an (evil) generation: They inherited the Book, but they chose (for themselves) the vanities of this world, saying (for excuse): "(Everything) will be forgiven us." (Even so), if similar vanities came their way, they would (again) seize them. Was not the covenant of the Book taken from them, that they would not ascribe to Allah anything but the truth? and they study what is in the Book. But best for the righteous is the home in the Hereafter. Will ye not understand? |

| 99 | আর যখন তোমার পালনকর্তা বনী আদমের পৃষ্টদেশ থেকে বের করলেন তাদের সন্তানদেরকে এবং নিজের উপর তাদেরকে প্রতিজ্ঞা করালেন, আমি কি তোমাদের পালনকর্তা নই ? তারা বলল, অবশ্যই, আমরা অঙ্গীকার করছি। আবার না কেয়ামতের দিন বলতে শুরু কর যে, এ বিষয়টি আমাদের জানা ছিল না। When thy Lord drew forth from the Children of Adam - from their loins - their descendants, and made them testify concerning themselves, (saying): "Am I not your Lord (who cherishes and sustains you)?"- They said: "Yea! We do testify!" (This), lest ye should say on the Day of Judgment: "Of this we were never mindful": |

| 100 | অথবা বলতে শুরু কর যে, অংশীদারিত্বের প্রথা তো আমাদের বাপ-দাদারা উদ্ভাবন করেছিল আমাদের পূর্বেই। আর আমরা হলাম তাদের পশ্চাৎবর্তী সন্তান-সন্ততি। তাহলে কি সে কর্মের জন্য আমাদেরকে ধ্বংস করবেন, যা পথভ্রষ্টরা করেছে? Or lest ye should say: "Our fathers before us may have taken false gods, but we are (their) descendants after them: wilt Thou then destroy us because of the deeds of men who were futile?" |

| 101 | তাছাড়া তারা যখন বলতে আরম্ভ করে যে, ইয়া আল্লাহ, এই যদি তোমার পক্ষ থেকে (আগত) সত্য দ্বীন হয়ে থাকে, তবে আমাদের উপর আকাশ থেকে প্রস্তর বর্ষণ কর কিংবা আমাদের উপর বেদনাদায়ক আযাব নাযিল কর। Remember how they said: "O Allah if this is indeed the Truth from Thee, rain down on us a shower of stones form the sky, or send us a grievous penalty." |

| 102 | যদি তোমরা তাকে (রসূলকে) সাহায্য না কর, তবে মনে রেখো, আল্লাহ তার সাহায্য করেছিলেন, যখন তাকে কাফেররা বহিষ্কার করেছিল, তিনি ছিলেন দু’জনের একজন, যখন তারা গুহার মধ্যে ছিলেন। তখন তিনি আপন সঙ্গীকে বললেন বিষন্ন হয়ো না, আল্লাহ আমাদের সাথে আছেন। অতঃপর আল্লাহ তার প্রতি স্বীয় সান্তনা নাযিল করলেন এবং তাঁর সাহায্যে এমন বাহিনী পাঠালেন, যা তোমরা দেখনি। বস্তুতঃ আল্লাহ কাফেরদের মাথা নীচু করে দিলেন আর আল্লাহর কথাই সদা সমুন্নত এবং আল্লাহ পরাক্রমশালী, প্রজ্ঞাময়। If ye help not (your leader), (it is no matter): for Allah did indeed help him, when the Unbelievers drove him out: he had no more than one companion; they two were in the cave, and he said to his companion, "Have no fear, for Allah is with us": then Allah sent down His peace upon him, and strengthened him with forces which ye saw not, and humbled to the depths the word of the Unbelievers. But the word of Allah is exalted to the heights: for Allah is Exalted in might, Wise. |

| 103 | যদি আশু লাভের সম্ভাবনা থাকতো এবং যাত্রাপথও সংক্ষিপ্ত হতো, তবে তারা অবশ্যই আপনার সহযাত্রী হতো, কিন্তু তাদের নিকট যাত্রাপথ সুদীর্ঘ মনে হল। আর তারা এমনই শপথ করে বলবে, আমাদের সাধ্য থাকলে অবশ্যই তোমাদের সাথে বের হতাম, এরা নিজেরাই নিজেদের বিনষ্ট করছে, আর আল্লাহ জানেন যে, এরা মিথ্যাবাদী। If there had been immediate gain (in sight), and the journey easy, they would (all) without doubt have followed thee, but the distance was long, (and weighed) on them. They would indeed swear by Allah, "If we only could, we should certainly have come out with you": They would destroy their own souls; for Allah doth know that they are certainly lying. |

| 104 | আপনি বলুন, আমাদের কাছে কিছুই পৌঁছবে না, কিন্তু যা আল্লাহ আমাদের জন্য রেখেছেন; তিনি আমাদের কার্যনির্বাহক। আল্লাহর উপরই মুমিনদের ভরসা করা উচিত। Say: "Nothing will happen to us except what Allah has decreed for us: He is our protector": and on Allah let the Believers put their trust. |

| 105 | আপনি বলুন, তোমরা তো তোমাদের জন্যে দুটি কল্যাণের একটি প্রত্যাশা কর; আর আমরা প্রত্যাশায় আছি তোমাদের জন্যে যে, আল্লাহ তোমাদের আযাব দান করুন নিজের পক্ষ থেকে অথবা আমাদের হস্তে। সুতরাং তোমরা অপেক্ষা কর, আমরাও তোমাদের সাথে অপেক্ষমাণ। Say: "Can you expect for us (any fate) other than one of two glorious things- (Martyrdom or victory)? But we can expect for you either that Allah will send his punishment from Himself, or by our hands. So wait (expectant); we too will wait with you." |

| 106 | কতই না ভাল হত, যদি তারা সন্তুষ্ট হত আল্লাহ ও তার রসূলের উপর এবং বলত, আল্লাহই আমাদের জন্যে যথেষ্ট, আল্লাহ আমাদের দেবেন নিজ করুণায় এবং তাঁর রসূলও, আমরা শুধু আল্লাহকেই কামনা করি। If only they had been content with what Allah and His Messenger gave them, and had said, "Sufficient unto us is Allah! Allah and His Messenger will soon give us of His bounty: to Allah do we turn our hopes!" (that would have been the right course). |

| 107 | তাদের মধ্যে কেউ কেউ রয়েছে যারা আল্লাহ তা’আলার সাথে ওয়াদা করেছিল যে, তিনি যদি আমাদের প্রতি অনুগ্রহ দান করেন, তবে অবশ্যই আমরা ব্যয় করব এবং সৎকর্মীদের অন্তর্ভুক্ত হয়ে থাকব। Amongst them are men who made a covenant with Allah, that if He bestowed on them of His bounty, they would give (largely) in charity, and be truly amongst those who are righteous. |

| 108 | আর যখন নাযিল হয় কোন সূরা যে, তোমরা ঈমান আন আল্লাহর উপর, তাঁর রসূলের সাথে একাত্ন হয়ে; তখন বিদায় কামনা করে তাদের সামর্থ?476;ান লোকেরা এবং বলে আমাদের অব্যাহতি দিন, যাতে আমরা (নিস্ক্রিয়ভাবে) বসে থাকা লোকদের সাথে থেকে যেতে পারি। When a Sura comes down, enjoining them to believe in Allah and to strive and fight along with His Messenger, those with wealth and influence among them ask thee for exemption, and say: "Leave us (behind): we would be with those who sit (at home)." |

| 109 | আর উপাসনা করে আল্লাহকে বাদ দিয়ে এমন বস্তুর, যা না তাদের কোন ক্ষতিসাধন করতে পারে, না লাভ এবং বলে, এরা তো আল্লাহর কাছে আমাদের সুপারিশকারী। তুমি বল, তোমরা কি আল্লাহকে এমন বিষয়ে অবহিত করছ, যে সম্পর্কে তিনি অবহিত নন আসমান ও যমীনের মাঝে ? তিনি পুতঃপবিত্র ও মহান সে সমস্ত থেকে যাকে তোমরা শরীক করছ। They serve, besides Allah, things that hurt them not nor profit them, and they say: "These are our intercessors with Allah." Say: "Do ye indeed inform Allah of something He knows not, in the heavens or on earth?- Glory to Him! and far is He above the partners they ascribe (to Him)!" |

| 110 | আর যখন আমি আস্বাদন করাই স্বীয় রহমত সে কষ্টের পর, যা তাদের ভোগ করতে হয়েছিল, তখনই তারা আমার শক্তিমত্তার মাঝে নানা রকম ছলনা তৈরী করতে আরম্ভ করবে। আপনি বলে দিন, আল্লাহ সবচেয়ে দ্রুত কলা-কৌশল তৈরী করতে পারেন। নিশ্চয়ই আমাদের ফেরেশতারা লিখে রাখে তোমাদের ছল-চাতুরী। When We make mankind taste of some mercy after adversity hath touched them, behold! they take to plotting against Our Signs! Say: "Swifter to plan is Allah!" Verily, Our messengers record all the plots that ye make! |

| 111 | তিনিই তোমাদের ভ্রমন করান স্থলে ও সাগরে। এমনকি যখন তোমরা নৌকাসমূহে আরোহণ করলে আর তা লোকজনকে অনুকূল হাওয়ায় বয়ে নিয়ে চলল এবং তাতে তারা আনন্দিত হল, নৌকাগুলোর উপর এল তীব্র বাতাস, আর সর্বদিক থেকে সেগুলোর উপর ঢেউ আসতে লাগল এবং তারা জানতে পারল যে, তারা অবরুদ্ধ হয়ে পড়েছে, তখন ডাকতে লাগল আল্লাহকে তাঁর এবাদতে নিঃস্বার্থ হয়ে যদি তুমি আমাদেরকে এ বিপদ থেকে উদ্ধার করে তোল, তাহলে নিঃসন্দেহে আমরা কৃতজ্ঞ থাকব। He it is Who enableth you to traverse through land and sea; so that ye even board ships;- they sail with them with a favourable wind, and they rejoice thereat; then comes a stormy wind and the waves come to them from all sides, and they think they are being overwhelmed: they cry unto Allah, sincerely offering (their) duty unto Him saying, "If thou dost deliver us from this, we shall truly show our gratitude!" |

| 112 | পার্থিব জীবনের উদাহরণ তেমনি, যেমনি আমি আসমান থেকে পানি বর্ষন করলাম, পরে তা মিলিত সংমিশ্রিত হয়ে তা থেকে যমীনের শ্যামল উদ্ভিদ বেরিয়ে এল যা মানুষ ও জীব-জন্তুরা খেয়ে থাকে। এমনকি যমীন যখন সৌন্দর্য সুষমায় ভরে উঠলো আর যমীনের অধিকর্তারা ভাবতে লাগল, এগুলো আমাদের হাতে আসবে, হঠাৎ করে তার উপর আমার নির্দেশ এল রাত্রে কিংবা দিনে, তখন সেগুলোকে কেটে স্তুপাকার করে দিল যেন কাল ও এখানে কোন আবাদ ছিল না। এমনিভাবে আমি খোলাখুলি বর্ণনা করে থাকি নিদর্শণসমূহ সে সমস্ত লোকদের জন্য যারা লক্ষ্য করে। The likeness of the life of the present is as the rain which We send down from the skies: by its mingling arises the produce of the earth- which provides food for men and animals: (It grows) till the earth is clad with its golden ornaments and is decked out (in beauty): the people to whom it belongs think they have all powers of disposal over it: There reaches it Our command by night or by day, and We make it like a harvest clean-mown, as if it had not flourished only the day before! thus do We explain the Signs in detail for those who reflect. |

| 113 | আর যেদিন আমি তাদের সবাইকে সমবেত করব; আর যারা শেরক করত তাদেরকে বলবঃ তোমরা এবং তোমাদের শরীকরা নিজ নিজ জায়গায় দাঁড়িয়ে যাও-অতঃপর তাদেরকে পারস্পরিক বিচ্ছিন্ন করে দেব, তখন তাদের শরীকরা বলবে, তোমরা তো আমাদের উপাসনা-বন্দেগী করনি। One day shall We gather them all together. Then shall We say to those who joined gods (with Us): "To your place! ye and those ye joined as 'partners' We shall separate them, and their "Partners" shall say: "It was not us that ye worshipped! |

| 114 | বস্তুতঃ আল্লাহ আমাদের ও তোমাদের মাঝে সাক্ষী হিসাবে যথেষ্ট। আমরা তোমাদের বন্দেগী সম্পর্কে জানতাম না। "Enough is Allah for a witness between us and you: we certainly knew nothing of your worship of us!" |

| 115 | তারা বলল, তুমি কি আমাদেরকে সে পথ থেকে ফিরিয়ে দিতে এসেছ যাতে আমরা পেয়েছি আমাদের বাপ-দাদাদেরকে? আর যাতে তোমরা দুইজন এদেশের সর্দারী পেয়ে যেতে পার? আমরা তোমাদেরকে কিছুতেই মানব না। They said: "Hast thou come to us to turn us away from the ways we found our fathers following,- in order that thou and thy brother may have greatness in the land? But not we shall believe in you!" |

| 116 | তখন তারা বলল, আমরা আল্লাহর উপর ভরসা করেছি। হে আমাদের পালনকর্তা, আমাদের উপর এ জালেম কওমের শক্তি পরীক্ষা করিও না। They said: "In Allah do we put out trust. Our Lord! make us not a trial for those who practise oppression; |

| 117 | আর আমাদেরকে অনুগ্রহ করে ছাড়িয়ে দাও এই কাফেরদের কবল থেকে। "And deliver us by Thy Mercy from those who reject (Thee)." |

| 118 | তখন তাঁর কওমের কাফের প্রধানরা বলল আমরা তো আপনাকে আমাদের মত একজন মানুষ ব্যতীত আর কিছু মনে করি না; আর আমাদের মধ্যে যারা ইতর ও স্থুল-বুদ্ধিসম্পন্ন তারা ব্যতীত কাউকে তো আপনার আনুগত্য করতে দেখি না এবং আমাদের উপর আপনাদের কেন প্রাধান্য দেখি না, বরং আপনারা সবাই মিথ্যাবাদী বলে আমারা মনে করি। But the chiefs of the Unbelievers among his people said: "We see (in) thee nothing but a man like ourselves: Nor do we see that any follow thee but the meanest among us, in judgment immature: Nor do we see in you (all) any merit above us: in fact we think ye are liars!" |

| 119 | তারা বলল-হে নূহ! আমাদের সাথে আপনি তর্ক করেছেন এবং অনেক কলহ করেছেন। এখন আপনার সেই আযাব নিয়ে আসুন, যে সম্পর্কে আপনি আমাদিগকে সতর্ক করেছেন, যদি আপনি সত্যবাদী হয়ে থাকেন। They said: "O Noah! thou hast disputed with us, and (much) hast thou prolonged the dispute with us: now bring upon us what thou threatenest us with, if thou speakest the truth!?" |

| 120 | তিনি নৌকা তৈরী করতে লাগলেন, আর তাঁর কওমের নেতৃস্থানীয় ব্যক্তিরা যখন পার্শ্ব দিয়ে যেত, তখন তাঁকে বিদ্রুপ করত। তিনি বললেন, তোমরা যদি আমাদের উপহাস করে থাক, তবে তোমরা যেমন উপহাস করছ আমরাও তদ্রুপ তোমাদের উপহাস করছি। Forthwith he (starts) constructing the Ark: Every time that the chiefs of his people passed by him, they threw ridicule on him. He said: "If ye ridicule us now, we (in our turn) can look down on you with ridicule likewise! |

| 121 | আর নৌকাখানি তাদের বহন করে চলল পর্বত প্রমাণ তরঙ্গমালার মাঝে, আর নূহ (আঃ) তাঁর পুত্রকে ডাক দিলেন আর সে সরে রয়েছিল, তিনি বললেন, প্রিয় বৎস! আমাদের সাথে আরোহন কর এবং কাফেরদের সাথে থেকো না। So the Ark floated with them on the waves (towering) like mountains, and Noah called out to his son, who had separated himself (from the rest): "O my son! embark with us, and be not with the unbelievers!" |

| 122 | তারা বলল-হে হুদ, তুমি আমাদের কাছে কোন প্রমাণ নিয়ে আস নাই, আমরা তোমার কথায় আমাদের দেব-দেবীদের বর্জন করতে পারি না আর আমরা তোমার প্রতি ঈমান আনয়নকারীও নই। They said: "O Hud! No Clear (Sign) that hast thou brought us, and we are not the ones to desert our gods on thy word! Nor shall we believe in thee! |

| 123 | বরং আমরাও তো বলি যে, আমাদের কোন দেবতা তোমার উপরে শোচনীয় ভূত চাপিয়ে দিয়েছে। হুদ বললেন-আমি আল্লাহকে সাক্ষী করেছি আর তোমাও সাক্ষী থাক যে, আমার কোন সম্পর্ক নাই তাঁদের সাথে যাদের কে তোমরা শরিক করছ; "We say nothing but that (perhaps) some of our gods may have seized thee with imbecility." He said: "I call Allah to witness, and do ye bear witness, that I am free from the sin of ascribing, to Him, |

| 124 | তারা বলল-হে সালেহ, ইতিপূর্বে তোমার কাছে আমাদের বড় আশা ছিল। আমাদের বাপ-দাদা যা পূজা করত তুমি কি আমাদেরকে তার পূজা করতে নিষেধ কর? কিন্তু যার প্রতি তুমি আমাদের আহবান জানাচ্ছ আমাদের তাতে এমন সন্দেহ রয়েছে যে, মন মোটেই সায় দিচ্ছে না। They said: "O Salih! thou hast been of us! a centre of our hopes hitherto! dost thou (now) forbid us the worship of what our fathers worshipped? But we are really in suspicious (disquieting) doubt as to that to which thou invitest us." |

| 125 | তারা বলল ু তুমি তো জানই, তোমার কন্যাদের নিয়ে আমাদের কোন গরজ নেই। আর আমরা কি চাই, তাও তুমি অবশ্যই জান। They said: "Well dost thou know we have no need of thy daughters: indeed thou knowest quite well what we want!" |

| 126 | আর মাদইয়ানবাসীদের প্রতি তাদের ভাই শোয়ায়েব (আঃ) কে প্রেরণ করেছি। তিনি বললেন-হে আমার কওম! আল্লাহর বন্দেগী কর, তিনি ছাড়া আমাদের কোন মাবুদ নাই। আর পরিমাপে ও ওজনে কম দিও না, আজ আমি তোমাদেরকে ভাল অবস্থায়ই দেখছি, কিন্তু আমি তোমাদের উপর এমন একদিনের আযাবের আশঙ্কা করছি যেদিনটি পরিবেষ্টনকারী। To the Madyan People (We sent) Shu'aib, one of their own brethren: he said: "O my people! worship Allah: Ye have no other god but Him. And give not short measure or weight: I see you in prosperity, but I fear for you the penalty of a day that will compass (you) all round. |

| 127 | তারা বলল-হে শোয়ায়েব (আঃ) আপনার নামায কি আপনাকে ইহাই শিক্ষা দেয় যে, আমরা ঐসব উপাস্যদেরকে পরিত্যাগ করব আমাদের বাপ-দাদারা যাদের উপাসনা করত? অথবা আমাদের ধন-সম্পদে ইচ্ছামত যা কিছু করে থাকি, তা ছেড়ে দেব? আপনি তো একজন খাস মহৎ ব্যক্তি ও সৎপথের পথিক। They said: "O Shu'aib! Does thy (religion of) prayer command thee that we leave off the worship which our fathers practised, or that we leave off doing what we like with our property? truly, thou art the one that forbeareth with faults and is right-minded!" |

| 128 | তারা বলল-হে শোয়ায়েব (আঃ) আপনি যা বলেছেন তার অনেক কথাই আমরা বুঝি নাই, আমারা তো আপনাকে আমাদের মধ্যে দূর্বল ব্যক্তি রূপে মনে করি। আপনার ভাই বন্ধুরা না থাকলে আমরা আপনাকে প্রস্তরাঘাতে হত্যা করতাম। আমাদের দৃষ্টিতে আপনি কোন মর্যাদাবান ব্যক্তি নন। They said: "O Shu'aib! much of what thou sayest we do not understand! In fact among us we see that thou hast no strength! Were it not for thy family, we should certainly have stoned thee! for thou hast among us no great position!" |

| 129 | যখন তারা বললঃ অবশ্যই ইউসুফ ও তাঁর ভাই আমাদের পিতার কাছে আমাদের চাইতে অধিক প্রিয় অথচ আমরা একটা সংহত শক্তি বিশেষ। নিশ্চয় আমাদের পিতা স্পষ্ট ভ্রান্তিতে রয়েছেন। They said: "Truly Joseph and his brother are loved more by our father than we: But we are a goodly body! really our father is obviously wandering (in his mind)! |

| 130 | তারা বললঃ পিতাঃ ব্যাপার কি, আপনি ইউসুফের ব্যাপারে আমাদেরকে বিশ্বাস করেন না ? আমরা তো তার হিতাকাংখী। They said: "O our father! why dost thou not trust us with Joseph,- seeing we are indeed his sincere well-wishers? |

| 131 | আগামীকাল তাকে আমাদের সাথে প্রেরণ করুন-তৃপ্তিসহ খাবে এবং খেলাধুলা করবে এবং আমরা অবশ্যই তার রক্ষণাবেক্ষন করব। "Send him with us tomorrow to enjoy himself and play, and we shall take every care of him." |

| 132 | তারা বললঃ পিতাঃ আমরা দৌড় প্রতিযোগিতা করতে গিয়েছিলাম এবং ইউসুফকে আসবাব-পত্রের কাছে রেখে গিয়েছিলাম। অতঃপর তাকে বাঘে খেয়ে ফেলেছে। আপনি তো আমাদেরকে বিশ্বাস করবেন না, যদিও আমরা সত্যবাদী। They said: "O our father! We went racing with one another, and left Joseph with our things; and the wolf devoured him.... But thou wilt never believe us even though we tell the truth." |

| 133 | মিসরে যে ব্যক্তি তাকে ক্রয় করল, সে তার স্ত্রীকে বললঃ একে সম্মানে রাখ। সম্ভবতঃ সে আমাদের কাছে আসবে অথবা আমরা তাকে পুত্ররূপে গ্রহণ করে নেব। এমনিভাবে আমি ইউসুফকে এদেশে প্রতিষ্ঠিত করলাম এবং এ জন্যে যে তাকে বাক্যাদির পূর্ণ মর্ম অনুধাবনের পদ্ধতি বিষয়ে শিক্ষা দেই। আল্লাহ নিজ কাজে প্রবল থাকেন, কিন্তু অধিকাংশ লোক তা জানে না। The man in Egypt who bought him, said to his wife: "Make his stay (among us) honourable: may be he will bring us much good, or we shall adopt him as a son." Thus did We establish Joseph in the land, that We might teach him the interpretation of stories (and events). And Allah hath full power and control over His affairs; but most among mankind know it not. |

| 134 | তাঁর সাথে কারাগারে দুজন যুবক প্রবেশ করল। তাদের একজন বললঃ আমি স্বপ্নে দেখলাম যে, আমি মদ নিঙড়াচ্ছি। অপরজন বললঃ আমি দেখলাম যে, নিজ মাথায় রুটি বহন করছি। তা থেকে পাখী ঠুকরিয়ে খাচ্ছে। আমাদের কে এর ব্যাখ্যা বলুন। আমরা আপনাকে সৎকর্মশীল দেখতে পাচ্ছি। Now with him there came into the prison two young men. Said one of them: "I see myself (in a dream) pressing wine." said the other: "I see myself (in a dream) carrying bread on my head, and birds are eating, thereof." "Tell us" (they said) "The truth and meaning thereof: for we see thou art one that doth good (to all)." |

| 135 | আমি আপন পিতৃপুরুষ ইব্রাহীম, ইসহাক ও ইয়াকুবের ধর্ম অনুসরণ করছি। আমাদের জন্য শোভা পায় না যে, কোন বস্তুকে আল্লাহর অংশীদার করি। এটা আমাদের প্রতি এবং অন্য সব লোকের প্রতি আল্লাহর অনুগ্রহ। কিন্ত অধিকাংশ লোক অনুগ্রহ স্বীকার করে না। "And I follow the ways of my fathers,- Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob; and never could we attribute any partners whatever to Allah: that (comes) of the grace of Allah to us and to mankind: yet most men are not grateful. |

| 136 | তারা বললঃ এটা কল্পনাপ্রসূত স্বপ্ন। এরূপ স্বপ্নের ব্যাখ্যা আমাদের জানা নেই। They said: "A confused medley of dreams: and we are not skilled in the interpretation of dreams." |

| 137 | সে তথায় পৌঁছে বললঃ হে ইউসুফ! হে সত্যবাদী! সাতটি মোটাতাজা গাভী-তাদেরকে খাচ্ছে সাতটি শীর্ণ গাভী এবং সাতটি সবুজ শীর্ষ ও অন্যগুলো শুষ্ক; আপনি আমাদেরকে এ স্বপ্ন সম্পর্কে পথনির্দেশ প্রদান করুনঃ যাতে আমি তাদের কাছে ফিরে গিয়ে তাদের অবগত করাতে পারি। "O Joseph!" (he said) "O man of truth! Expound to us (the dream) of seven fat kine whom seven lean ones devour, and of seven green ears of corn and (seven) others withered: that I may return to the people, and that they may understand." |

| 138 | তারা বললঃ আমরা তার সম্পর্কে তার পিতাকে সম্মত করার চেষ্টা করব এবং আমাদেরকে একাজ করতেই হবে। They said: "We shall certainly seek to get our wish about him from his father: Indeed we shall do it." |
(ইউসূফ: আয়াতঃ ৬১) |
| 139 | তারা যখন তাদের পিতার কাছে ফিরে এল তখন বললঃ হে আমাদের পিতা, আমাদের জন্যে খাদ্য শস্যের বরাদ্দ নিষিদ্ধ করা হয়েছে। অতএব আপনি আমাদের ভাইকে আমাদের সাথে প্রেরণ করুন; যাতে আমরা খাদ্য শস্যের বরাদ্দ আনতে পারি এবং আমরা অবশ্যই তার পুরোপুরি হেফাযত করব। Now when they returned to their father, they said: "O our father! No more measure of grain shall we get (unless we take our brother): So send our brother with us, that we may get our measure; and we will indeed take every care of him." |
(ইউসূফ: আয়াতঃ ৬৩) |
| 140 | এবং যখন তারা আসবাবপত্র খুলল, তখন দেখতে পেল যে, তাদেরকে তাদের পন্যমুল্য ফেরত দেয়া হয়েছে। তারা বললঃ হে আমাদের পিতা, আমরা আর কি চাইতে পারি। এই আমাদের প্রদত্ত পন্যমূল্য, আমাদেরকে ফেরত দেয়া হয়েছে। এখন আমরা আবার আমাদের পরিবারবর্গের জন্যে রসদ আনব এবং আমাদের ভাইয়ের দেখাশোনা করব এবং এক এক উটের বরাদ্দ খাদ্যশস্য আমরা অতিরিক্ত আনব। ঐ বরাদ্দ সহজ। Then when they opened their baggage, they found their stock-in-trade had been returned to them. They said: "O our father! What (more) can we desire? this our stock-in-trade has been returned to us: so we shall get (more) food for our family; We shall take care of our brother; and add (at the same time) a full camel's load (of grain to our provisions). This is but a small quantity. |

| 141 | বললেন, তাকে ততক্ষণ তোমাদের সাথে পাঠাব না, যতক্ষণ তোমরা আমাকে আল্লাহর নামে অঙ্গীকার না দাও যে, তাকে অবশ্যই আমার কাছে পৌঁছে দেবে; কিন্তু যদি তোমরা সবাই একান্তই অসহায় না হয়ে যাও। অতঃপর যখন সবাই তাঁকে অঙ্গীকার দিল, তখন তিনি বললেনঃ আমাদের মধ্যে যা কথাবার্তা হলো সে ব্যাপারে আল্লাহই মধ্যস্থ রইলেন। (Jacob) said: "Never will I send him with you until ye swear a solemn oath to me, in Allah's name, that ye will be sure to bring him back to me unless ye are yourselves hemmed in (and made powerless). And when they had sworn their solemn oath, he said: "Over all that we say, be Allah the witness and guardian!" |

| 142 | তারা বলতে লাগলঃ হে আযীয, তার পিতা আছেন, যিনি খুবই বৃদ্ধ বয়স্ক। সুতরাং আপনি আমাদের একজনকে তার বদলে রেখে দিন। আমরা আপনাকে অনুগ্রহশীল ব্যক্তিদের একজন দেখতে পাচ্ছি। They said: "O exalted one! Behold! he has a father, aged and venerable, (who will grieve for him); so take one of us in his place; for we see that thou art (gracious) in doing good." |
(ইউসূফ: আয়াতঃ ৭৮) |
| 143 | তিনি বললেনঃ যার কাছে আমরা আমাদের মাল পেয়েছি, তাকে ছাড়া আর কাউকে গ্রেফতার করা থেকে আল্লাহ আমাদের রক্ষা করুন। তা হলে তো আমরা নিশ্চিতই অন্যায়কারী হয়ে যাব। He said: "Allah forbid that we take other than him with whom we found our property: indeed (if we did so), we should be acting wrongfully. |
(ইউসূফ: আয়াতঃ ৭৯) |
| 144 | তোমরা তোমাদের পিতার কাছে ফিরে যাও এবং বলঃ পিতা আপনার ছেলে চুরি করেছে। আমরা তাই বলে দিলাম, যা আমাদের জানা ছিল এবং অদৃশ্য বিষয়ের প্রতি আমাদের লক্ষ্য ছিল না। "Turn ye back to your father, and say, 'O our father! behold! thy son committed theft! we bear witness only to what we know, and we could not well guard against the unseen! |

| 145 | অতঃপর যখন তারা ইউসুফের কাছে পৌঁছল তখন বললঃ হে আযীয, আমরা ও আমাদের পরিবারবর্গ কষ্টের সম্মুখীন হয়ে পড়েছি এবং আমরা অপর্যাপ্ত পুঁজি নিয়ে এসেছি। অতএব আপনি আমাদের পুরোপুরি বরাদ্দ দিন এবং আমাদের কে দান করুন। আল্লাহ দাতাদেরকে প্রতিদান দিয়ে থাকেন। Then, when they came (back) into (Joseph's) presence they said: "O exalted one! distress has seized us and our family: we have (now) brought but scanty capital: so pay us full measure, (we pray thee), and treat it as charity to us: for Allah doth reward the charitable." |

| 146 | তারা বলল, তবে কি তুমিই ইউসুফ! বললেনঃ আমিই ইউসুফ এবং এ হল আমার সহোদর ভাই। আল্লাহ আমাদের প্রতি অনুগ্রহ করেছেন। নিশ্চয় যে তাকওয়া অবলম্বন করে এবং সবর করে, আল্লাহ এহেন সৎকর্মশীলদের প্রতিদান বিনষ্ট করেন না। They said: "Art thou indeed Joseph?" He said, "I am Joseph, and this is my brother: Allah has indeed been gracious to us (all): behold, he that is righteous and patient,- never will Allah suffer the reward to be lost, of those who do right." |

| 147 | তারা বললঃ আল্লাহর কসম, আমাদের চাইতে আল্লাহ তোমাকে পছন্দ করেছেন এবং আমরা অবশ্যই অপরাধী ছিলাম। They said: "By Allah! indeed has Allah preferred thee above us, and we certainly have been guilty of sin!" |
(ইউসূফ: আয়াতঃ ৯১) |
| 148 | তারা বললঃ পিতা আমাদের অপরাধ ক্ষমা করান। নিশ্চয় আমরা অপরাধী ছিলাম। They said: "O our father! ask for us forgiveness for our sins, for we were truly at fault." |
(ইউসূফ: আয়াতঃ ৯৭) |
| 149 | তোমাদের কাছে কি তোমাদের পূর্ববর্তী কওমে নূহ, আদ ও সামুদের এবং তাদের পরবর্তীদের খবর পৌছেনি? তাদের বিষয়ে আল্লাহ ছাড়া আর কেউ জানে না। তাদের কাছে তাদের পয়গম্বর প্রমানাদি নিয়ে আগমন করেন। অতঃপর তারা নিজেদের হাত নিজেদের মুখে রেখে দিয়েছে এবং বলেছে, যা কিছু সহ তোমাদেরকে প্রেরণ করা হয়েছে, আমরা তা মানি না এবং যে পথের দিকে তোমরা আমাদেরকে দাওয়াত দাও, সে সম্পর্কে আমাদের মনে সন্দেহ আছে, যা আমাদেরকে উৎকন্ঠায় ফেলে রেখেছে। Has not the story reached you, (O people!), of those who (went) before you? - of the people of Noah, and 'Ad, and Thamud? - And of those who (came) after them? None knows them but Allah. To them came messengers with Clear (Signs); but they put their hands up to their mouths, and said: "We do deny (the mission) on which ye have been sent, and we are really in suspicious (disquieting) doubt as to that to which ye invite us." |

| 150 | তাদের পয়গম্বরগণ বলেছিলেনঃ আল্লাহ সম্পর্কে কি সন্দেহ আছে, যিনি নভোমন্ডল ও ভুমন্ডলের স্রষ্টা? তিনি তোমাদেরকে আহবান করেন যাতে তোমাদের কিছু গুনাহ ক্ষমা করেন এবং নির্দিষ্ট মেয়াদ পর্যন্ত তোমাদের সময় দেন। তারা বলতঃ তোমরা তো আমাদের মতই মানুষ! তোমরা আমাদেরকে ঐ উপাস্য থেকে বিরত রাখতে চাও, যার এবাদত আমাদের পিতৃপুরুষগণ করত। অতএব তোমরা কোন সুস্পষ্ট প্রমাণ আনয়ন কর। Their messengers said: "Is there a doubt about Allah, The Creator of the heavens and the earth? It is He Who invites you, in order that He may forgive you your sins and give you respite for a term appointed!" They said: "Ah! ye are no more than human, like ourselves! Ye wish to turn us away from the (gods) our fathers used to worship: then bring us some clear authority." |
(ইব্রাহীম: আয়াতঃ ১০) |
| 151 | তাদের পয়গম্বর তাদেরকে বলেনঃ আমারাও তোমাদের মত মানুষ, কিন্তু আল্লাহ বান্দাদের মধ্য থেকে যার উপরে ইচ্ছা, অনুগ্রহ করেন। আল্লাহর নির্দেশ ব্যতীত তোমাদের কাছে প্রমাণ নিয়ে আসা আমাদের কাজ নয়; ঈমানদারদের আল্লাহর উপর ভরসা করা চাই। Their messengers said to them: "True, we are human like yourselves, but Allah doth grant His grace to such of his servants as He pleases. It is not for us to bring you an authority except as Allah permits. And on Allah let all men of faith put their trust. |
(ইব্রাহীম: আয়াতঃ ১১) |
| 152 | আমাদের আল্লাহর উপর ভরসা না করার কি কারণ থাকতে পারে, অথচ তিনি আমাদেরকে আমাদের পথ বলে দিয়েছেন। তোমরা আমাদেরকে যে পীড়ন করেছ, তজ্জন্যে আমরা সবর করব। ভরসাকারিগণের আল্লাহর উপরই ভরসা করা উচিত। "No reason have we why we should not put our trust on Allah. Indeed He Has guided us to the Ways we (follow). We shall certainly bear with patience all the hurt you may cause us. For those who put their trust should put their trust on Allah." |

| 153 | কাফেররা পয়গম্বরগণকে বলেছিলঃ আমরা তোমাদেরকে দেশ থেকে বের করে দেব অথবা তোমরা আমাদের ধর্মে ফিরে আসবে। তখন তাদের কাছে তাদের পালনকর্তা ওহী প্রেরণ করলেন যে, আমি জালিমদেরকে অবশ্যই ধ্বংস করে দেব। And the Unbelievers said to their messengers: "Be sure we shall drive you out of our land, or ye shall return to our religion." But their Lord inspired (this Message) to them: "Verily We shall cause the wrong-doers to perish! |

| 154 | সবাই আল্লাহর সামনে দন্ডায়মান হবে এবং দুর্বলেরা বড়দেরকে বলবেঃ আমরা তো তোমাদের অনুসারী ছিলাম-অতএব, তোমরা আল্লাহর আযাব থেকে আমাদেরকে কিছুমাত্র রক্ষা করবে কি? তারা বলবেঃ যদি আল্লাহ আমাদেরকে সৎপথ দেখাতেন, তবে আমরা অবশ্যই তোমাদের কে সৎপথ দেখাতাম। এখন তো আমাদের ধৈর্য্যচ্যুত হই কিংবা সবর করি-সবই আমাদের জন্যে সমান আমাদের রেহাই নেই। They will all be marshalled before Allah together: then will the weak say to those who were arrogant, "For us, we but followed you; can ye then avail us to all against the wrath of Allah?" They will reply, "If we had received the Guidance of Allah, we should have given it to you: to us it makes no difference (now) whether we rage, or bear (these torments) with patience: for ourselves there is no way of escape." |

| 155 | হে আমাদের পালনকর্তা, আমি নিজের এক সন্তানকে তোমার পবিত্র গৃহের সন্নিকটে চাষাবাদহীন উপত্যকায় আবাদ করেছি; হে আমাদের পালনকর্তা, যাতে তারা নামায কায়েম রাখে। অতঃপর আপনি কিছু লোকের অন্তরকে তাদের প্রতি আকৃষ্ট করুন এবং তাদেরকে ফলাদি দ্বারা রুযী দান করুন, সম্ভবতঃ তারা কৃতজ্ঞতা প্রকাশ করবে "O our Lord! I have made some of my offspring to dwell in a valley without cultivation, by Thy Sacred House; in order, O our Lord, that they may establish regular Prayer: so fill the hearts of some among men with love towards them, and feed them with fruits: so that they may give thanks. |

| 156 | হে আমাদের পালনকর্তা, আপনি তো জানেন আমরা যা কিছু গোপনে করি এবং যা কিছু প্রকাশ্য করি। আল্লাহর কাছে পৃথিবীতে ও আকাশে কোন কিছুই গোপন নয়। "O our Lord! truly Thou dost know what we conceal and what we reveal: for nothing whatever is hidden from Allah, whether on earth or in heaven. |

| 157 | হে আমার পালনকর্তা, আমাকে নামায কায়েমকারী করুন এবং আমার সন্তানদের মধ্যে থেকেও। হে আমাদের পালনকর্তা, এবং কবুল করুন আমাদের দোয়া। O my Lord! make me one who establishes regular Prayer, and also (raise such) among my offspring O our Lord! and accept Thou my Prayer. |

| 158 | হে আমাদের পালনকর্তা, আমাকে, আমার পিতা-মাতাকে এবং সব মুমিনকে ক্ষমা করুন, যেদিন হিসাব কায়েম হবে। "O our Lord! cover (us) with Thy Forgiveness - me, my parents, and (all) Believers, on the Day that the Reckoning will be established! |

| 159 | মানুষকে ঐ দিনের ভয় প্রদর্শন করুন, যেদিন তাদের কাছে আযাব আসবে। তখন জালেমরা বলবেঃ হে আমাদের পালনকর্তা, আমাদেরকে সামান্য মেয়াদ পর্যন্ত সময় দিন, যাতে আমরা আপনার আহবানে সাড়া দিতে এবং পয়গম্বরগণের অনুসরণ করতে পারি। তোমরা কি ইতোপূর্বে কসম খেতে না যে, তোমাদেরকে দুনিয়া থেকে যেতে হবে না? So warn mankind of the Day when the Wrath will reach them: then will the wrong-doers say: "Our Lord! respite us (if only) for a short term: we will answer Thy call, and follow the messengers!" "What! were ye not wont to swear aforetime that ye should suffer no decline? |

| 160 | যদি আপনি সত্যবাদী হন, তবে আমাদের কাছে ফেরেশতাদেরকে আনেন না কেন? "Why bringest thou not angels to us if it be that thou hast the Truth?" |

| 161 | তবুও ওরা একথাই বলবে যে, আমাদের দৃষ্টির বিভ্রাট ঘটানো হয়েছে না বরং আমরা যাদুগ্রস্ত হয়ে পড়েছি। They would only say: "Our eyes have been intoxicated: Nay, we have been bewitched by sorcery." |

| 162 | আমাদের ইলাহ একক ইলাহ। অনন্তর যারা পরজীবনে বিশ্বাস করে না, তাদের অন্তর সত্যবিমুখ এবং তারা অহংকার প্রদর্শন করেছে। Your Allah is one Allah: as to those who believe not in the Hereafter, their hearts refuse to know, and they are arrogant. |

| 163 | মুশরিকরা বললঃ যদি আল্লাহ চাইতেন, তবে আমরা তাঁকে ছাড়া কারও এবাদত করতাম না এবং আমাদের পিতৃপুরুষেরাও করত না এবং তাঁর নির্দেশ ছাড়া কোন বস্তুই আমরা হারাম করতাম না। তাদের পূর্ববর্তীরা এমনই করেছে। রাসূলের দায়িত্ব তো শুধুমাত্র সুস্পষ্ট বাণী পৌছিয়ে দেয়া। The worshippers of false gods say: "If Allah had so willed, we should not have worshipped aught but Him - neither we nor our fathers,- nor should we have prescribed prohibitions other than His." So did those who went before them. But what is the mission of messengers but to preach the Clear Message? |

| 164 | মুশরিকরা যখন ঐ সব বস্তুকে দেখবে, যেসবকে তারা আল্লাহর সাথে শরীক সাব্যস্ত করেছিল, তখন বলবেঃ হে আমাদের পালনকর্তা এরাই তারা যারা আমাদের শেরেকীর উপাদান, তোমাকে ছেড়ে আমরা যাদেরকে ডাকতাম। তখন ওরা তাদেরকে বলবেঃ তোমরা মিথ্যাবাদী। When those who gave partners to Allah will see their "partners", they will say: "Our Lord! these are our 'partners,' those whom we used to invoke besides Thee." But they will throw back their word at them (and say): "Indeed ye are liars!" |

| 165 | অথবা এমন কোন বস্তু, যা তোমাদের ধারণায় খুবই কঠিন; তথাপি তারা বলবেঃ আমাদের কে পুর্নবার কে সৃষ্টি করবে। বলুনঃ যিনি তোমাদেরকে প্রথমবার সৃজন করেছেন। অতঃপর তারা আপনার সামনে মাথা নাড়বে এবং বলবেঃ এটা কবে হবে? বলুনঃ হবে, সম্ভবতঃ শ্রীঘ্রই। "Or created matter which, in your minds, is hardest (to be raised up),- (Yet shall ye be raised up)!" then will they say: "Who will cause us to return?" Say: "He who created you first!" Then will they wag their heads towards thee, and say, "When will that be?" Say, "May be it will be quite soon! |

| 166 | এবং তারা বলেঃ আমরা কখনও আপনাকে বিশ্বাস করব না, যে পর্যন্ত না আপনি ভূপৃষ্ঠ থেকে আমাদের জন্যে একটি ঝরণা প্রবাহিত করে দিন। They say: "We shall not believe in thee, until thou cause a spring to gush forth for us from the earth, |

| 167 | অথবা আপনি যেমন বলে থাকেন, তেমনিভাবে আমাদের উপর আসমানকে খন্ড-বিখন্ড করে ফেলে দেবেন অথবা আল্লাহ ও ফেরেশতাদেরকে আমাদের সামনে নিয়ে আসবেন। "Or thou cause the sky to fall in pieces, as thou sayest (will happen), against us; or thou bring Allah and the angels before (us) face to face: |

| 168 | অথবা আপনার কোন সোনার তৈরী গৃহ হবে অথবা আপনি আকাশে আরোহণ করবেন এবং আমরা আপনার আকাশে আরোহণকে কখনও বিশ্বাস করবনা, যে পর্যন্ত না আপনি অবতীর্ণ করেন আমাদের প্রতি এক গ্রন্থ, যা আমরা পাঠ করব। বলুনঃ পবিত্র মহান আমার পালনকর্তা, একজন মানব, একজন রসূল বৈ আমি কে? "Or thou have a house adorned with gold, or thou mount a ladder right into the skies. No, we shall not even believe in thy mounting until thou send down to us a book that we could read." Say: "Glory to my Lord! Am I aught but a man,- a messenger?" |

| 169 | এবং বলেঃ আমাদের পালনকর্তা পবিত্র, মহান। নিঃসন্দেহে আমাদের পালকর্তার ওয়াদা অবশ্যই পূর্ণ হবে। "And they say: 'Glory to our Lord! Truly has the promise of our Lord been fulfilled!'" |

| 170 | যখন যুবকরা পাহাড়ের গুহায় আশ্রয়গ্রহণ করে তখন দোআ করেঃ হে আমাদের পালনকর্তা, আমাদেরকে নিজের কাছ থেকে রহমত দান করুন এবং আমাদের জন্যে আমাদের কাজ সঠিকভাবে পূর্ণ করুন। Behold, the youths betook themselves to the Cave: they said, "Our Lord! bestow on us Mercy from Thyself, and dispose of our affair for us in the right way!" |

| 171 | আমি তাদের মন দৃঢ় করেছিলাম, যখন তারা উঠে দাঁড়িয়েছিল। অতঃপর তারা বললঃ আমাদের পালনকর্তা আসমান ও যমীনের পালনকর্তা আমরা কখনও তার পরিবর্তে অন্য কোন উপাস্যকে আহবান করব না। যদি করি, তবে তা অত্যন্ত গর্হিত কাজ হবে। We gave strength to their hearts: Behold, they stood up and said: "Our Lord is the Lord of the heavens and of the earth: never shall we call upon any god other than Him: if we did, we should indeed have uttered an enormity! |

| 172 | এরা আমাদেরই স্ব-জাতি, এরা তাঁর পরিবর্তে অনেক উপাস্য গ্রহণ করেছে। তারা এদের সম্পর্কে প্রকাশ্য প্রমাণ উপস্থিত করে না কেন? যে আল্লাহ সম্পর্কে মিথ্যা উদ্ভাবন করে, তার চাইতে অধিক গোনাহগার আর কে? "These our people have taken for worship gods other than Him: why do they not bring forward an authority clear (and convincing) for what they do? Who doth more wrong than such as invent a falsehood against Allah? |

| 173 | যখন তাঁরা সে স্থানটি অতিক্রম করে গেলেন, মূসা সঙ্গী কে বললেনঃ আমাদের নাশতা আন। আমরা এই সফরে পরিশ্রান্ত হয়ে পড়েছি। When they had passed on (some distance), Moses said to his attendant: "Bring us our early meal; truly we have suffered much fatigue at this (stage of) our journey." |

| 174 | তারা বললঃ হে যুলকারনাইন, ইয়াজুজ ও মাজুজ দেশে অশান্তি সৃষ্টি করেছে। আপনি বললে আমরা আপনার জন্যে কিছু কর ধার্য করব এই শর্তে যে, আপনি আমাদের ও তাদের মধ্যে একটি প্রাচীর নির্মাণ করে দেবেন। They said: "O Zul-qarnain! the Gog and Magog (People) do great mischief on earth: shall we then render thee tribute in order that thou mightest erect a barrier between us and them? |

| 175 | (জিব্রাইল বললঃ) আমি আপনার পালনকর্তার আদেশ ব্যতীত অবতরণ করি না, যা আমাদের সামনে আছে, যা আমাদের পশ্চাতে আছে এবং যা এ দুই-এর মধ্যস্থলে আছে, সবই তাঁর এবং আপনার পালনকর্তা বিস্মৃত হওয়ার নন। (The angels say:) "We descend not but by command of thy Lord: to Him belongeth what is before us and what is behind us, and what is between: and thy Lord never doth forget,- |

| 176 | আপনি তো আমাদের অবস্থা সবই দেখছেন। "For Thou art He that (ever) regardeth us." |
(ত্বোয়া-হা: আয়াতঃ ৩৫) |
| 177 | তারা বললঃ হে আমাদের পালনকর্তা, আমরা আশঙ্কা করি যে, সে আমাদের প্রতি জুলুম করবে কিংবা উত্তেজিত হয়ে উঠবে। They (Moses and Aaron) said: "Our Lord! We fear lest he hasten with insolence against us, or lest he transgress all bounds." |
(ত্বোয়া-হা: আয়াতঃ ৪৫) |
| 178 | অতএব তোমরা তার কাছে যাও এবং বলঃ আমরা উভয়েই তোমার পালনকর্তার প্রেরিত রসূল, অতএব আমাদের সাথে বনী ইসরাঈলকে যেতে দাও এবং তাদেরকে নিপীড়ন করো না। আমরা তোমার পালনকর্তার কাছ থেকে নিদর্শন নিয়ে তোমার কাছে আগমন করেছি। এবং যে সৎপথ অনুসরণ করে, তার প্রতি শান্তি। "So go ye both to him, and say, 'Verily we are messengers sent by thy Lord: Send forth, therefore, the Children of Israel with us, and afflict them not: with a Sign, indeed, have we come from thy Lord! and peace to all who follow guidance! |

| 179 | মূসা বললেনঃ আমাদের পালনকর্তা তিনি, যিনি প্রত্যেক বস্তুকে তার যোগ্য আকৃতি দান করেছেন, অতঃপর পথপ্রদর্শন করেছেন। He said: "Our Lord is He Who gave to each (created) thing its form and nature, and further, gave (it) guidance." |

| 180 | সে বললঃ হে মূসা, তুমি কি যাদুর জোরে আমাদেরকে দেশ থেকে বহিষ্কার করার জন্যে আগমন করেছ? He said: "Hast thou come to drive us out of our land with thy magic, O Moses? |

| 181 | অতএব, আমরাও তোমার মোকাবেলায় তোমার নিকট অনুরূপ যাদু উপস্থিত করব। সুতরাং আমাদের ও তোমার মধ্যে একটি ওয়াদার দিন ঠিক কর, যার খেলাফ আমরাও করব না এবং তুমিও করবে না একটি পরিষ্কার প্রান্তরে। "But we can surely produce magic to match thine! So make a tryst between us and thee, which we shall not fail to keep - neither we nor thou - in a place where both shall have even chances." |

| 182 | ফেরাউন বললঃ আমার অনুমতি দানের পূর্বেই? তোমরা কি তার প্রতি বিশ্বাস স্থাপন করলে; দেখছি সেই তোমাদের প্রধান, সে তোমাদেরকে যাদু শিক্ষা দিয়েছে। অতএব আমি অবশ্যই তোমাদের হস্তপদ বিপরীত দিক থেকে কর্তন করব এবং আমি তোমাদেরকে খর্জুর বৃক্ষের কান্ডে শূলে চড়াব এবং তোমরা নিশ্চিত রূপেই জানতে পারবে আমাদের মধ্যে কার আযাব কঠোরতর এবং অধিক্ষণ স্থায়ী। (Pharaoh) said: "Believe ye in Him before I give you permission? Surely this must be your leader, who has taught you magic! be sure I will cut off your hands and feet on opposite sides, and I will have you crucified on trunks of palm-trees: so shall ye know for certain, which of us can give the more severe and the more lasting punishment!" |

| 183 | যাদুকররা বললঃ আমাদের কাছে যে, সুস্পষ্ট প্রমাণ এসেছে তার উপর এবং যিনি আমাদের কে সৃষ্টি করেছেন, তাঁর উপর আমরা কিছুতেই তোমাকে প্রাধান্য দেব না। অতএব, তুমি যা ইচ্ছা করতে পার। তুমি তো শুধু এই পার্থিব জীবনেই যা করার করবে। They said: "Never shall we regard thee as more than the Clear Signs that have come to us, or than Him Who created us! so decree whatever thou desirest to decree: for thou canst only decree (touching) the life of this world. |

| 184 | আমরা আমাদের পালনকর্তার প্রতি বিশ্বাস স্থাপন করেছি যাতে তিনি আমাদের পাপ এবং তুমি আমাদেরকে যে যাদু করতে বাধ্য করেছ, তা মার্জনা করেন। আল্লাহ শ্রেষ্ঠ ও চিরস্থায়ী। "For us, we have believed in our Lord: may He forgive us our faults, and the magic to which thou didst compel us: for Allah is Best and Most Abiding." |

| 185 | তারা বললঃ আমরা তোমার সাথে কৃত ওয়াদা স্বেচ্ছায় ভঙ্গ করিনি; কিন্তু আমাদের উপর ফেরউনীদের অলংকারের বোঝা চাপিয়ে দেয়া হয়েছিল। অতঃপর আমরা তা নিক্ষেপ করে দিয়েছি। এমনি ভাবে সামেরীও নিক্ষেপ করেছে। They said: "We broke not the promise to thee, as far as lay in our power: but we were made to carry the weight of the ornaments of the (whole) people, and we threw them (into the fire), and that was what the Samiri suggested. |

| 186 | তারা বললঃ মূসা আমাদের কাছে ফিরে আসা পর্যন্ত আমরা সদাসর্বদা এর সাথেই সংযুক্ত হয়ে বসে থাকব। They had said: "We will not abandon this cult, but we will devote ourselves to it until Moses returns to us." |

| 187 | এরা বলেঃ সে আমাদের কাছে তার পালনকর্তার কাছ থেকে কোন নিদর্শন আনয়ন করে না কেন? তাদের কাছে কি প্রমাণ আসেনি, যা পূর্ববর্তী গ্রন্থসমূহে আছে? They say: "Why does he not bring us a sign from his Lord?" Has not a Clear Sign come to them of all that was in the former Books of revelation? |

| 188 | যদি আমি এদেরকে ইতিপূর্বে কোন শাস্তি দ্বারা ধ্বংস করতাম, তবে এরা বলতঃ হে আমাদের পালনকর্তা, আপনি আমাদের কাছে একজন রসূল প্রেরণ করলেন না কেন? তাহলে তো আমরা অপমানিত ও হেয় হওয়ার পূর্বেই আপনার নিদর্শন সমূহ মেনে চলতাম। And if We had inflicted on them a penalty before this, they would have said: "Our Lord! If only Thou hadst sent us a messenger, we should certainly have followed Thy Signs before we were humbled and put to shame." |

| 189 | এছাড়া তারা আরও বলেঃ অলীক স্বপ্ন; না সে মিথ্যা উদ্ভাবন করেছে, না সে একজন কবি। অতএব সে আমাদের কাছে কোন নিদর্শন আনয়ন করুক, যেমন নিদর্শন সহ আগমন করেছিলেন পূর্ববর্তীগন। "Nay," they say, "(these are) medleys of dream! - Nay, He forged it! - Nay, He is (but) a poet! Let him then bring us a Sign like the ones that were sent to (Prophets) of old!" |

| 190 | তারা বললঃ হায়, দুর্ভোগ আমাদের, আমরা অবশ্যই পাপী ছিলাম। They said: "Ah! woe to us! We were indeed wrong-doers!" |

| 191 | আপনার পালনকর্তার আযাবের কিছুমাত্রও তাদেরকে স্পর্শ করলে তারা বলতে থাকবে, হায় আমাদের দুর্ভাগ্য, আমরা অবশ্যই পাপী ছিলাম। If but a breath of the Wrath of thy Lord do touch them, they will then say, "Woe to us! we did wrong indeed!" |

| 192 | তারা বললঃ আমরা আমাদের বাপ-দাদাকে এদের পুজা করতে দেখেছি। They said, "We found our fathers worshipping them." |
(আম্বিয়া: আয়াতঃ ৫৩) |
| 193 | তারা বললঃ তুমি কি আমাদের কাছে সত্যসহ আগমন করেছ, না তুমি কৌতুক করছ? They said, "Have you brought us the Truth, or are you one of those who jest?" |

| 194 | তারা বললঃ আমাদের উপাস্যদের সাথে এরূপ ব্যবহার কে করল? সে তো নিশ্চয়ই কোন জালিম। They said, "Who has done this to our gods? He must indeed be some man of impiety!" |

| 195 | তারা বললঃ হে ইব্রাহীম তুমিই কি আমাদের উপাস্যদের সাথে এরূপ ব্যবহার করেছ? They said, "Art thou the one that did this with our gods, O Abraham?" |

| 196 | আমোঘ প্রতিশ্রুত সময় নিকটবর্তী হলে কাফেরদের চক্ষু উচ্চে স্থির হয়ে যাবে; হায় আমাদের দূর্ভাগ্য, আমরা এ বিষয়ে বেখবর ছিলাম; বরং আমরা গোনাহগরই ছিলাম। Then will the true promise draw nigh (of fulfilment): then behold! the eyes of the Unbelievers will fixedly stare in horror: "Ah! Woe to us! we were indeed heedless of this; nay, we truly did wrong!" |

| 197 | পয়গাম্বর বললেনঃ হে আমার পালনকর্তা, আপনি ন্যায়ানুগ ফয়সালা করে দিন। আমাদের পালনকর্তা তো দয়াময়, তোমরা যা বলছ, সে বিষয়ে আমরা তাঁর কাছেই সাহায্য প্রার্থনা করি। Say: "O my Lord! judge Thou in truth!" "Our Lord Most Gracious is the One Whose assistance should be sought against the blasphemies ye utter!" |

| 198 | যাদেরকে তাদের ঘর-বাড়ী থেকে অন্যায়ভাবে বহিস্কার করা হয়েছে শুধু এই অপরাধে যে, তারা বলে আমাদের পালনকর্তা আল্লাহ। আল্লাহ যদি মানবজাতির একদলকে অপর দল দ্বারা প্রতিহত না করতেন, তবে (খ্রীষ্টানদের) নির্ঝন গির্জা, এবাদত খানা, (ইহুদীদের) উপাসনালয় এবং মসজিদসমূহ বিধ্বস্ত হয়ে যেত, যেগুলাতে আল্লাহর নাম অধিক স্মরণ করা হয়। আল্লাহ নিশ্চয়ই তাদেরকে সাহায্য করবেন, যারা আল্লাহর সাহায্য করে। নিশ্চয়ই আল্লাহ পরাক্রমশালী শক্তিধর। (They are) those who have been expelled from their homes in defiance of right,- (for no cause) except that they say, "our Lord is Allah". Did not Allah check one set of people by means of another, there would surely have been pulled down monasteries, churches, synagogues, and mosques, in which the name of Allah is commemorated in abundant measure. Allah will certainly aid those who aid his (cause);- for verily Allah is full of Strength, Exalted in Might, (able to enforce His Will). |

| 199 | তখন তার সম্প্রদায়ের কাফের-প্রধানরা বলেছিলঃ এ তো তোমাদের মতই একজন মানুষ বৈ নয়। সে তোমাদের উপর নেতৃত্ব করতে চায়। আল্লাহ ইচ্ছা করলে ফেরেশতাই নাযিল করতেন। আমরা আমাদের পূর্বপুরুষদের মধ্যে এরূপ কথা শুনিনি। The chiefs of the Unbelievers among his people said: "He is no more than a man like yourselves: his wish is to assert his superiority over you: if Allah had wished (to send messengers), He could have sent down angels; never did we hear such a thing (as he says), among our ancestors of old." |
(আল মু'মিনূন: আয়াতঃ ২৪) |
| 200 | যখন তুমি ও তোমার সঙ্গীরা নৌকায় আরোহণ করবে, তখন বলঃ আল্লাহর শোকর, যিনি আমাদেরকে জালেম সম্প্রদায়ের কবল থেকে উদ্ধার করেছেন। And when thou hast embarked on the Ark - thou and those with thee,- say: "Praise be to Allah, Who has saved us from the people who do wrong." |

| 201 | তাঁর সম্প্রদায়ের প্রধানরা যারা কাফের ছিল, পরকালের সাক্ষাতকে মিথ্যা বলত এবং যাদেরকে আমি পার্থিব জীবনে সুখ-স্বাচ্ছন্দ্য দিয়েছিলাম, তারা বললঃ এতো আমাদের মতই একজন মানুষ বৈ নয়। তোমরা যা খাও, সেও তাই খায় এবং তোমরা যা পান কর, সেও তাই পান করে। And the chiefs of his people, who disbelieved and denied the Meeting in the Hereafter, and on whom We had bestowed the good things of this life, said: "He is no more than a man like yourselves: he eats of that of which ye eat, and drinks of what ye drink. |

| 202 | আমাদের পার্থিবজীবনই একমাত্র জীবন। আমরা মরি ও বাঁচি এখানেই এবং আমারা পুনরুত্থিত হবো না। "There is nothing but our life in this world! We shall die and we live! But we shall never be raised up again! |

| 203 | তারা বললঃ আমরা কি আমাদের মতই এ দুই ব্যক্তিতে বিশ্বাস স্থাপন করব; অথচ তাদের সম্প্রদায় আমাদের দাস? They said: "Shall we believe in two men like ourselves? And their people are subject to us!" |

| 204 | অতীতে আমাদেরকে এবং আমাদের পিতৃপুরুষদেরকে এই ওয়াদাই দেয়া হয়েছে। এটা তো পূর্ববতীদের কল্প-কথা বৈ কিছুই নয়। "Such things have been promised to us and to our fathers before! they are nothing but tales of the ancients!" |

| 205 | তারা বলবেঃ হে আমাদের পালনকর্তা, আমরা দূর্ভাগ্যের হাতে পরাভূত ছিলাম এবং আমরা ছিলাম বিভ্রান্ত জাতি। They will say: "our Lord! Our misfortune overwhelmed us, and we became a people astray! |

| 206 | হে আমাদের পালনকর্তা! এ থেকে আমাদেরকে উদ্ধার কর; আমরা যদি পুনরায় তা করি, তবে আমরা গোনাহগার হব। "Our Lord! bring us out of this: if ever we return (to Evil), then shall we be wrong-doers indeed!" |

| 207 | আমার বান্দাদের একদলে বলতঃ হে আমাদের পালনকর্তা! আমরা বিশ্বাস স্থাপন করেছি। অতএব তুমি আমাদেরকে ক্ষমা কর ও আমাদের প্রতি রহম কর। তুমি তো দয়ালুদের মধ্যে শ্রেষ্ঠ দয়ালু। "A part of My servants there was, who used to pray 'our Lord! we believe; then do Thou forgive us, and have mercy upon us: For Thou art the Best of those who show mercy!" |

| 208 | তোমরা যখন এ কথা শুনলে তখন কেন বললে না যে, এ বিষয়ে কথা বলা আমাদের উচিত নয়। আল্লাহ তো পবিত্র, মহান। এটা তো এক গুরুতর অপবাদ। And why did ye not, when ye heard it, say? - "It is not right of us to speak of this: Glory to Allah! this is a most serious slander!" |
(আন-নূর: আয়াতঃ ১৬) |
| 209 | যারা আমার সাক্ষাৎ আশা করে না, তারা বলে, আমাদের কাছে ফেরেশতা অবতীর্ণ করা হল না কেন? অথবা আমরা আমাদের পালনকর্তাকে দেখি না কেন? তারা নিজেদের অন্তরে অহংকার পোষণ করে এবং গুরুতর অবাধ্যতায় মেতে উঠেছে। Such as fear not the meeting with Us (for Judgment) say: "Why are not the angels sent down to us, or (why) do we not see our Lord?" Indeed they have an arrogant conceit of themselves, and mighty is the insolence of their impiety! |

| 210 | সে তো আমাদেরকে আমাদের উপাস্যগণের কাছ থেকে সরিয়েই দিত, যদি আমরা তাদেরকে আঁকড়ে ধরে না থাকতাম। তারা যখন শাস্তি প্রত্যক্ষ করবে, তখন জানতে পারবে কে অধিক পথভ্রষ্ট। "He indeed would well-nigh have misled us from our gods, had it not been that we were constant to them!" - Soon will they know, when they see the Penalty, who it is that is most misled in Path! |

| 211 | এবং যারা বলে, হে আমার পালনকর্তা, আমাদের কাছথেকে জাহান্নামের শাস্তি হটিয়ে দাও। নিশ্চয় এর শাস্তি নিশ্চিত বিনাশ; Those who say, "Our Lord! avert from us the Wrath of Hell, for its Wrath is indeed an affliction grievous,- |

| 212 | এবং যারা বলে, হে আমাদের পালনকর্তা, আমাদের স্ত্রীদের পক্ষ থেকে এবং আমাদের সন্তানের পক্ষ থেকে আমাদের জন্যে চোখের শীতলতা দান কর এবং আমাদেরকে মুত্তাকীদের জন্যে আদর্শস্বরূপ কর। And those who pray, "Our Lord! Grant unto us wives and offspring who will be the comfort of our eyes, and give us (the grace) to lead the righteous." |

| 213 | যাতে তুমি বনী-ইসরাঈলকে আমাদের সাথে যেতে দাও। "'Send thou with us the Children of Israel.'" |
(আশ-শো'আরা: আয়াতঃ ১৭) |
| 214 | ফেরাউন বলল, আমরা কি তোমাকে শিশু অবস্থায় আমাদের মধ্যে লালন-পালন করিনি? এবং তুমি আমাদের মধ্যে জীবনের বহু বছর কাটিয়েছ। (Pharaoh) said: "Did we not cherish thee as a child among us, and didst thou not stay in our midst many years of thy life? |

| 215 | তারা বলল, কোন ক্ষতি নেই। আমরা আমাদের পালনকর্তার কাছে প্রত্যাবর্তন করব। They said: "No matter! for us, we shall but return to our Lord! |

| 216 | আমরা আশা করি, আমাদের পালনকর্তা আমাদের ক্রটি-বিচ্যুতি মার্জনা করবেন। কারণ, আমরা বিশ্বাস স্থাপনকারীদের মধ্যে অগ্রণী। "Only, our desire is that our Lord will forgive us our faults, that we may become foremost among the believers!" |

| 217 | এবং তারা আমাদের ক্রোধের উদ্রেক করেছে। "And they are raging furiously against us; |
(আশ-শো'আরা: আয়াতঃ ৫৫) |
| 218 | তারা বললঃ না, তবে আমরা আমাদের পিতৃপুরুষদেরকে পেয়েছি, তারা এরূপই করত। They said: "Nay, but we found our fathers doing thus (what we do)." |

| 219 | আমাদেরকে দুষ্টকর্মীরাই গোমরাহ করেছিল। "'And our seducers were only those who were steeped in guilt. |
(আশ-শো'আরা: আয়াতঃ ৯৯) |
| 220 | অতএব আমাদের কোন সুপারিশকারী নেই। "'Now, then, we have none to intercede (for us), |

| 221 | তারা বলল, তুমি উপদেশ দাও অথবা উপদেশ নাই দাও, উভয়ই আমাদের জন্যে সমান। They said: "It is the same to us whether thou admonish us or be not among (our) admonishers! |

| 222 | তুমি তো আমাদের মতই একজন মানুষ বৈ নও। সুতরাং যদি তুমি সত্যবাদী হও, তবে কোন নিদর্শন উপস্থিত কর। "Thou art no more than a mortal like us: then bring us a Sign, if thou tellest the truth!" |

| 223 | তুমি আমাদের মত মানুষ বৈ তো নও। আমাদের ধারণা-তুমি মিথ্যাবাদীদের অন্তর্ভুক্ত। "Thou art no more than a mortal like us, and indeed we think thou art a liar! |

| 224 | অতএব, যদি সত্যবাদী হও, তবে আকাশের কোন টুকরো আমাদের উপর ফেলে দাও। "Now cause a piece of the sky to fall on us, if thou art truthful!" |

| 225 | আমি অবশ্যই দাউদ ও সুলায়মানকে জ্ঞান দান করেছিলাম। তাঁরা বলে ছিলেন, আল্লাহর প্রশংসা, যিনি আমাদেরকে তাঁর অনেক মুমিন বান্দার উপর শ্রেষ্ঠত্ব দান করেছেন। We gave (in the past) knowledge to David and Solomon: And they both said: "Praise be to Allah, Who has favoured us above many of his servants who believe!" |

| 226 | তারা বলল, আমরা শক্তিশালী এবং কঠোর যোদ্ধা। এখন সিদ্ধান্ত গ্রহণের ক্ষমতা আপনারই। অতএব আপনি ভেবে দেখুন, আমাদেরকে কি আদেশ করবেন। They said: "We are endued with strength, and given to vehement war: but the command is with thee; so consider what thou wilt command." |

| 227 | কাফেররা বলে, যখন আমরা ও আমাদের বাপ-দাদারা মৃত্তিকা হয়ে যাব, তখনও কি আমাদেরকে পুনরুত্থিত করা হবে? The Unbelievers say: "What! when we become dust,- we and our fathers,- shall we really be raised (from the dead)? |

| 228 | এই ওয়াদাপ্রাপ্ত হয়েছি আমরা এবং পূর্ব থেকেই আমাদের বাপ-দাদারা। এটা তো পূর্ববর্তীদের উপকথা বৈ কিছু নয়। "It is true we were promised this,- we and our fathers before (us): these are nothing but tales of the ancients." |

| 229 | ফেরাউনের স্ত্রী বলল, এ শিশু আমার ও তোমার নয়নমণি, তাকে হত্যা করো না। এ আমাদের উপকারে আসতে পারে অথবা আমরা তাকে পুত্র করে নিতে পারি। প্রকৃতপক্ষে পরিণাম সম্পর্কে তাদের কোন খবর ছিল না। The wife of Pharaoh said: "(Here is) joy of the eye, for me and for thee: slay him not. It may be that he will be use to us, or we may adopt him as a son." And they perceived not (what they were doing)! |

| 230 | যখন তিনি মাদইয়ানের কূপের ধারে পৌছলেন, তখন কূপের কাছে একদল লোককে পেলেন তারা জন্তুদেরকে পানি পান করানোর কাজে রত। এবং তাদের পশ্চাতে দূ’জন স্ত্রীলোককে দেখলেন তারা তাদের জন্তুদেরকে আগলিয়ে রাখছে। তিনি বললেন, তোমাদের কি ব্যাপার? তারা বলল, আমরা আমাদের জন্তুদেরকে পানি পান করাতে পারি না, যে পর্যন্ত রাখালরা তাদের জন্তুদেরকে নিয়ে সরে না যায়। আমাদের পিতা খুবই বৃদ্ধ। And when he arrived at the watering (place) in Madyan, he found there a group of men watering (their flocks), and besides them he found two women who were keeping back (their flocks). He said: "What is the matter with you?" They said: "We cannot water (our flocks) until the shepherds take back (their flocks): And our father is a very old man." |

| 231 | অতঃপর বালিকাদ্বয়ের একজন লজ্জাজড়িত পদক্ষেপে তাঁর কাছে আগমন করল। বলল, আমার পিতা আপনাকে ডাকছেন, যাতে আপনি যে আমাদেরকে পানি পান করিয়েছেন, তার বিনিময়ে পুরস্কার প্রদান করেন। অতঃপর মূসা যখন তাঁর কাছে গেলেন এবং সমস্ত বৃত্তান্ত বর্ণনা করলেন, তখন তিনি বললেন, ভয় করো না, তুমি জালেম সম্প্রদায়ের কবল থেকে রক্ষা পেয়েছ। Afterwards one of the (damsels) came (back) to him, walking bashfully. She said: "My father invites thee that he may reward thee for having watered (our flocks) for us." So when he came to him and narrated the story, he said: "Fear thou not: (well) hast thou escaped from unjust people." |

| 232 | অতঃপর মূসা যখন তাদের কাছে আমার সুস্পষ্ট নিদর্শনাবলী নিয়ে পৌছল, তখন তারা বলল, এতো অলীক জাদু মাত্র। আমরা আমাদের পূর্বপুরুষদের মধ্যে এ কথা শুনিনি। When Moses came to them with Our clear signs, they said: "This is nothing but sorcery faked up: never did we head the like among our fathers of old!" |

| 233 | আর এ জন্য যে, তাদের কৃতকর্মের জন্যে তাদের কোন বিপদ হলে তারা বলত, হে আমাদের পালনকর্তা, তুমি আমাদের কাছে কোন রসূল প্রেরণ করলে না কেন? করলে আমরা তোমার আয়াতসমূহের অনুসরণ করতাম এবং আমরা বিশ্বাস স্থাপনকারী হয়ে যেতাম। If (We had) not (sent thee to the Quraish),- in case a calamity should seize them for (the deeds) that their hands have sent forth, they might say: "Our Lord! why didst Thou not sent us a messenger? We should then have followed Thy Signs and been amongst those who believe!" |

| 234 | যখন তাদের কাছে এটা পাঠ করা হয়, তখন তারা বলে, আমরা এর প্রতি বিশ্বাস স্থাপন করলাম। এটা আমাদের পালনকর্তার পক্ষ থেকে সত্য। আমরা এর পূর্বেও আজ্ঞাবহ ছিলাম। And when it is recited to them, they say: "We believe therein, for it is the Truth from our Lord: indeed we have been Muslims (bowing to Allah's Will) from before this. |

| 235 | তারা যখন অবাঞ্চিত বাজে কথাবার্তা শ্রবণ করে, তখন তা থেকে মুখ ফিরিয়ে নেয় এবং বলে, আমাদের জন্যে আমাদের কাজ এবং তোমাদের জন্যে তোমাদের কাজ। তোমাদের প্রতি সালাম। আমরা অজ্ঞদের সাথে জড়িত হতে চাই না। And when they hear vain talk, they turn away therefrom and say: "To us our deeds, and to you yours; peace be to you: we seek not the ignorant." |

| 236 | তারা বলে, যদি আমরা আপনার সাথে সুপথে আসি, তবে আমরা আমাদের দেশ থেকে উৎখাত হব। আমি কি তাদের জন্যে একটি নিরাপদ হরম প্রতিষ্ঠিত করিনি? এখানে সর্বপ্রকার ফল-মূল আমদানী হয় আমার দেয়া রিযিকস্বরূপ। কিন্তু তাদের অধিকাংশই জানে না। They say: "If we were to follow the guidance with thee, we should be snatched away from our land." Have We not established for them a secure sanctuary, to which are brought as tribute fruits of all kinds,- a provision from Ourselves? but most of them understand not. |

| 237 | যাদের জন্যে শাস্তির আদেশ অবধারিত হয়েছে, তারা বলবে, হে আমাদের পালনকর্তা। এদেরকেই আমরা পথভ্রষ্ট করেছিলাম। আমরা তাদেরকে পথভ্রষ্ট করেছিলাম, যেমন আমরা পথভ্রষ্ট হয়েছিলাম। আমরা আপনার সামনে দায়মুক্ত হচ্ছি। তারা কেবল আমাদেরই এবাদত করত না। Those against whom the charge will be proved, will say: "Our Lord! These are the ones whom we led astray: we led them astray, as we were astray ourselves: we free ourselves (from them) in Thy presence: it was not us they worshipped." |

| 238 | অতঃপর কারুন জাঁকজমক সহকারে তার সম্প্রদায়ের সামনে বের হল। যারা পার্থিব জীবন কামনা করত, তারা বলল, হায়, কারুন যা প্রাপ্ত হয়েছে, আমাদেরকে যদি তা দেয়া হত! নিশ্চয় সে বড় ভাগ্যবান। So he went forth among his people in the (pride of his wordly) glitter. Said those whose aim is the Life of this World: "Oh! that we had the like of what Qarun has got! for he is truly a lord of mighty good fortune!" |

| 239 | গতকল্য যারা তার মত হওয়ার বাসনা প্রকাশ করেছিল, তারা প্রত্যুষে বলতে লাগল, হায়, আল্লাহ তাঁর বান্দাদের মধ্যে যার জন্যে ইচ্ছা রিযিক বর্ধিত করেন ও হ্রাস করেন। আল্লাহ আমাদের প্রতি অনুগ্রহ না করলে আমাদেরকেও ভূগর্ভে বিলীন করে দিতেন। হায়, কাফেররা সফলকাম হবে না। And those who had envied his position the day before began to say on the morrow: "Ah! it is indeed Allah Who enlarges the provision or restricts it, to any of His servants He pleases! had it not been that Allah was gracious to us, He could have caused the earth to swallow us up! Ah! those who reject Allah will assuredly never prosper." |

| 240 | কাফেররা মুমিনদেরকে বলে, আমাদের পথ অনুসরণ কর। আমরা তোমাদের পাপভার বহন করব। অথচ তারা পাপভার কিছুতেই বহন করবে না। নিশ্চয় তারা মিথ্যাবাদী। And the Unbelievers say to those who believe: "Follow our path, and we will bear (the consequences) of your faults." Never in the least will they bear their faults: in fact they are liars! |

| 241 | তোমরা কি পুংমৈথুনে লিপ্ত আছ, রাহাজানি করছ এবং নিজেদের মজলিসে গর্হিত কর্ম করছ? জওয়াবে তাঁর সম্প্রদায় কেবল একথা বলল, আমাদের উপর আল্লাহর আযাব আন যদি তুমি সত্যবাদী হও। "Do ye indeed approach men, and cut off the highway?- and practise wickedness (even) in your councils?" But his people gave no answer but this: they said: "Bring us the Wrath of Allah if thou tellest the truth." |
(আল আনকাবুত: আয়াতঃ ২৯) |
| 242 | তোমরা কিতাবধারীদের সাথে তর্ক-বিতর্ক করবে না, কিন্তু উত্তম পন্থায়; তবে তাদের সাথে নয়, যারা তাদের মধ্যে বে-ইনসাফ। এবং বল, আমাদের প্রতি ও তোমাদের প্রতি যা নাযিল করা হয়েছে, তাতে আমরা বিশ্বাস স্থাপন করেছি। আমাদের উপাস্য ও তোমাদের উপাস্য একই এবং আমরা তাঁরই আজ্ঞাবহ। And dispute ye not with the People of the Book, except with means better (than mere disputation), unless it be with those of them who inflict wrong (and injury): but say, "We believe in the revelation which has come down to us and in that which came down to you; Our Allah and your Allah is one; and it is to Him we bow (in Islam)." |

| 243 | তাদেরকে যখন বলা হয়, আল্লাহ যা নাযিল করেছেন, তোমরা তার অনুসরণ কর, তখন তারা বলে, বরং আমরা আমাদের পূর্বপুরুষদেরকে যে বিষয়ের উপর পেয়েছি, তারই অনুসরণ করব। শয়তান যদি তাদেরকে জাহান্নামের শাস্তির দিকে দাওয়াত দেয়, তবুও কি? When they are told to follow the (Revelation) that Allah has sent down, they say: "Nay, we shall follow the ways that we found our fathers (following). "What! even if it is Satan beckoning them to the Penalty of the (Blazing) Fire? |

| 244 | যদি আপনি দেখতেন যখন অপরাধীরা তাদের পালনকর্তার সামনে নতশির হয়ে বলবে, হে আমাদের পালনকর্তা, আমরা দেখলাম ও শ্রবণ করলাম। এখন আমাদেরকে পাঠিয়ে দিন, আমরা সৎকর্ম করব। আমরা দৃঢ়বিশ্বাসী হয়ে গেছি। If only thou couldst see when the guilty ones will bend low their heads before their Lord, (saying:) "Our Lord! We have seen and we have heard: Now then send us back (to the world): we will work righteousness: for we do indeed (now) believe." |
(সেজদাহ: আয়াতঃ ১২) |
| 245 | এবং যখন মুনাফিক ও যাদের অন্তরে রোগ ছিল তারা বলছিল, আমাদেরকে প্রদত্ত আল্লাহ ও রসূলের প্রতিশ্রুতি প্রতারণা বৈ নয়। And behold! The Hypocrites and those in whose hearts is a disease (even) say: "Allah and His Messenger promised us nothing but delusion!" |
(আল আহযাব: আয়াতঃ ১২) |
| 246 | এবং যখন তাদের একদল বলেছিল, হে ইয়াসরেববাসী, এটা টিকবার মত জায়গা নয়, তোমরা ফিরে চল। তাদেরই একদল নবীর কাছে অনুমতি প্রার্থনা করে বলেছিল, আমাদের বাড়ী-ঘর খালি, অথচ সেগুলো খালি ছিল না, পলায়ন করাই ছিল তাদের ইচ্ছা। Behold! A party among them said: "Ye men of Yathrib! ye cannot stand (the attack)! therefore go back!" And a band of them ask for leave of the Prophet, saying, "Truly our houses are bare and exposed," though they were not exposed they intended nothing but to run away. |

| 247 | আল্লাহ খুব জানেন তোমাদের মধ্যে কারা তোমাদেরকে বাধা দেয় এবং কারা তাদের ভাইদেরকে বলে, আমাদের কাছে এস। তারা কমই যুদ্ধ করে। Verily Allah knows those among you who keep back (men) and those who say to their brethren, "Come along to us", but come not to the fight except for just a little while. |
(আল আহযাব: আয়াতঃ ১৮) |
| 248 | যখন মুমিনরা শক্রবাহিনীকে দেখল, তখন বলল, আল্লাহ ও তাঁর রসূল এরই ওয়াদা আমাদেরকে দিয়েছিলেন এবং আল্লাহ ও তাঁর রসূল সত্য বলেছেন। এতে তাদের ঈমান ও আত্নসমর্পণই বৃদ্ধি পেল। When the Believers saw the Confederate forces, they said: "This is what Allah and his Messenger had promised us, and Allah and His Messenger told us what was true." And it only added to their faith and their zeal in obedience. |
(আল আহযাব: আয়াতঃ ২২) |
| 249 | তারা আরও বলবে, হে আমাদের পালনকর্তা, আমরা আমাদের নেতা ও বড়দের কথা মেনেছিলাম, অতঃপর তারা আমাদের পথভ্রষ্ট করেছিল। And they would say: "Our Lord! We obeyed our chiefs and our great ones, and they misled us as to the (right) Path. |
(আল আহযাব: আয়াতঃ ৬৭) |
| 250 | হে আমাদের পালনকর্তা! তাদেরকে দ্বিগুণ শাস্তি দিন এবং তাদেরকে মহা অভিসম্পাত করুন। "Our Lord! Give them double Penalty and curse them with a very great Curse!" |

| 251 | কাফেররা বলে আমাদের উপর কেয়ামত আসবে না। বলুন কেন আসবে না? আমার পালনকর্তার শপথ-অবশ্যই আসবে। তিনি অদৃশ্য সম্পর্কে জ্ঞাত। নভোমন্ডলে ও ভূ-মন্ডলে তাঁর আগোচরে নয় অণু পরিমাণ কিছু, না তদপেক্ষা ক্ষুদ্র এবং না বৃহৎ-সমস্তই আছে সুস্পষ্ট কিতাবে। The Unbelievers say, "Never to us will come the Hour": Say, "Nay! but most surely, by my Lord, it will come upon you;- by Him Who knows the unseen,- from Whom is not hidden the least little atom in the heavens or on earth: Nor is there anything less than that, or greater, but is in the Record Perspicuous: |

| 252 | অতঃপর তারা বলল, হে আমাদের পালনকর্তা, আমাদের ভ্রমণের পরিসর বাড়িয়ে দাও। তারা নিজেদের প্রতি জুলুম করেছিল। ফলে আমি তাদেরকে উপাখ্যানে পরিণত করলাম এবং সম্পূর্ণরূপে ছিন্ন-বিচ্ছিন্ন করে দিলাম। নিশ্চয় এতে প্রত্যেক ধৈর্যশীল কৃতজ্ঞের জন্যে নিদর্শনাবলী রয়েছে। But they said: "Our Lord! Place longer distances between our journey-stages": but they wronged themselves (therein). At length We made them as a tale (that is told), and We dispersed them all in scattered fragments. Verily in this are Signs for every (soul that is) patiently constant and grateful. |

| 253 | বলুন, আমাদের অপরাধের জন্যে তোমরা জিজ্ঞাসিত হবে না এবং তোমরা যা কিছু কর, সে সম্পর্কে আমরা জিজ্ঞাসিত হব না। Say: "Ye shall not be questioned as to our sins, nor shall we be questioned as to what ye do." |

| 254 | বলুন, আমাদের পালনকর্তা আমাদেরকে সমবেত করবেন, অতঃপর তিনি আমাদের মধ্যে সঠিকভাবে ফয়সালা করবেন। তিনি ফয়সালাকারী, সর্বজ্ঞ। Say: "Our Lord will gather us together and will in the end decide the matter between us (and you) in truth and justice: and He is the one to decide, the One Who knows all." |

| 255 | দুর্বলরা অহংকারীদেরকে বলবে, বরং তোমরাই তো দিবারাত্রি চক্রান্ত করে আমাদেরকে নির্দেশ দিতে যেন আমরা আল্লাহকে না মানি এবং তাঁর অংশীদার সাব্যস্ত করি তারা যখন শাস্তি দেখবে, তখন মনের অনুতাপ মনেই রাখবে। বস্তুতঃ আমি কাফেরদের গলায় বেড়ী পরাব। তারা সে প্রতিফলই পেয়ে থাকে যা তারা করত। Those who had been despised will say to the arrogant ones: "Nay! it was a plot (of yours) by day and by night: Behold! Ye (constantly) ordered us to be ungrateful to Allah and to attribute equals to Him!" They will declare (their) repentance when they see the Penalty: We shall put yokes on the necks of the Unbelievers: It would only be a requital for their (ill) Deeds. |

| 256 | আর তারা বলবে-সমস্ত প্রশংসা আল্লাহর, যিনি আমাদের দূঃখ দূর করেছেন। নিশ্চয় আমাদের পালনকর্তা ক্ষমাশীল, গুণগ্রাহী। And they will say: "Praise be to Allah, Who has removed from us (all) sorrow: for our Lord is indeed Oft-Forgiving Ready to appreciate (service): |

| 257 | যিনি স্বীয় অনুগ্রহে আমাদেরকে বসবাসের গৃহে স্থান দিয়েছেন, তথায় কষ্ট আমাদেরকে স্পর্শ করে না এবং স্পর্শ করে না ক্লান্তি। "Who has, out of His Bounty, settled us in a Home that will last: no toil nor sense of weariness shall touch us therein." |

| 258 | সেখানে তারা আর্ত চিৎকার করে বলবে, হে আমাদের পালনকর্তা, বের করুন আমাদেরকে, আমরা সৎকাজ করব, পূর্বে যা করতাম, তা করব না। (আল্লাহ বলবেন) আমি কি তোমাদেরকে এতটা বয়স দেইনি, যাতে যা চিন্তা করার বিষয় চিন্তা করতে পারতে? উপরন্তু তোমাদের কাছে সতর্ককারীও আগমন করেছিল। অতএব আস্বাদন কর। জালেমদের জন্যে কোন সাহায্যকারী নেই। Therein will they cry aloud (for assistance): "Our Lord! Bring us out: we shall work righteousness, not the (deeds) we used to do!" - "Did We not give you long enough life so that he that would should receive admonition? and (moreover) the warner came to you. So taste ye (the fruits of your deeds): for the wrong-doers there is no helper." |

| 259 | তারা বলল, তোমরা তো আমাদের মতই মানুষ, রহমান আল্লাহ কিছুই নাযিল করেননি। তোমরা কেবল মিথ্যাই বলে যাচ্ছ। The (people) said: "Ye are only men like ourselves; and (Allah) Most Gracious sends no sort of revelation: ye do nothing but lie." |

| 260 | রাসূলগণ বলল, আমাদের পরওয়ারদেগার জানেন, আমরা অবশ্যই তোমাদের প্রতি প্রেরিত হয়েছি। They said: "Our Lord doth know that we have been sent on a mission to you: |

| 261 | পরিস্কারভাবে আল্লাহর বাণী পৌছে দেয়াই আমাদের দায়িত্ব। "And our duty is only to proclaim the clear Message." |
(ইয়াসীন: আয়াতঃ ১৭) |
| 262 | তারা বলল, আমরা তোমাদেরকে অশুভ-অকল্যাণকর দেখছি। যদি তোমরা বিরত না হও, তবে অবশ্যই তোমাদেরকে প্রস্তর বর্ষণে হত্যা করব এবং আমাদের পক্ষ থেকে তোমাদেরকে যন্ত্রনাদায়ক শাস্তি স্পর্শ করবে। The (people) said: "for us, we augur an evil omen from you: if ye desist not, we will certainly stone you. And a grievous punishment indeed will be inflicted on you by us." |

| 263 | তারা বলবে, হায় আমাদের দুর্ভোগ! কে আমাদেরকে নিদ্রাস্থল থেকে উখিত করল? রহমান আল্লাহ তো এরই ওয়াদা দিয়েছিলেন এবং রসূলগণ সত্য বলেছিলেন। They will say: "Ah! Woe unto us! Who hath raised us up from our beds of repose?"... (A voice will say:) "This is what (Allah) Most Gracious had promised. And true was the word of the messengers!" |

| 264 | আমাদের পিতৃপুরুষগণও কি? "And also our fathers of old?" |
(আস-সাফফাত: আয়াতঃ ১৭) |
| 265 | এবং বলবে, দুর্ভাগ্য আমাদের! এটাই তো প্রতিফল দিবস। They will say, "Ah! Woe to us! This is the Day of Judgment!" |

| 266 | বলবে, তোমরা তো আমাদের কাছে ডান দিক থেকে আসতে। They will say: "It was ye who used to come to us from the right hand (of power and authority)!" |

| 267 | এবং তোমাদের উপর আমাদের কোন কতৃত্ব ছিল না, বরং তোমরাই ছিলে সীমালংঘনকারী সম্প্রদায়। "Nor had we any authority over you. Nay, it was ye who were a people in obstinate rebellion! |

| 268 | আমাদের বিপক্ষে আমাদের পালনকর্তার উক্তিই সত্য হয়েছে। আমাদেরকে অবশই স্বাদ আস্বাদন করতে হবে। "So now has been proved true, against us, the word of our Lord that we shall indeed (have to) taste (the punishment of our sins). |

| 269 | এবং বলত, আমরা কি এক উম্মাদ কবির কথায় আমাদের উপাস্যদেরকে পরিত্যাগ করব। And say: "What! shall we give up our gods for the sake of a Poet possessed?" |

| 270 | এখন আমাদের আর মৃত্যু হবে না। "Is it (the case) that we shall not die, |

| 273 | যদি আমাদের কাছে পূর্ববর্তীদের কোন উপদেশ থাকত, "If only we had had before us a Message from those of old, |

| 274 | আমাদের মধ্য থেকে শুধু কি তারই প্রতি উপদেশ বানী অবতীর্ণ হল? বস্তুতঃ ওরা আমার উপদেশ সম্পর্কে সন্দিহান; বরং ওরা এখনও আমার মার আস্বাদন করেনি। "What! has the Message been sent to him - (Of all persons) among us?"... but they are in doubt concerning My (Own) Message! Nay, they have not yet tasted My Punishment! |

| 275 | তারা বলে, হে আমাদের পরওয়ারদেগার, আমাদের প্রাপ্য অংশ হিসাব দিবসের আগেই দিয়ে দাও। They say: "Our Lord! hasten to us our sentence (even) before the Day of Account!" |

| 276 | যখন তারা দাউদের কাছে অনুপ্রবেশ করল, তখন সে সন্ত্রস্ত হয়ে পড়ল। তারা বললঃ ভয় করবেন না; আমরা বিবদমান দুটি পক্ষ, একে অপরের প্রতি বাড়াবাড়ি করেছি। অতএব, আমাদের মধ্যে ন্যায়বিচার করুন, অবিচার করবেন না। আমাদেরকে সরল পথ প্রদর্শন করুন। When they entered the presence of David, and he was terrified of them, they said: "Fear not: we are two disputants, one of whom has wronged the other: Decide now between us with truth, and treat us not with injustice, but guide us to the even Path.. |

| 277 | তারা বলবে, তোমাদের জন্যে ও তো অভিনন্দন নেই। তোমরাই আমাদেরকে এ বিপদের সম্মুখীন করেছ। অতএব, এটি কতই না ঘৃণ্য আবাসস্থল। (The followers shall cry to the misleaders:) "Nay, ye (too)! No welcome for you! It is ye who have brought this upon us! Now evil is (this) place to stay in!" |

| 278 | তারা বলবে, হে আমাদের পালনকর্তা, যে আমাদেরকে এর সম্মুখীন করেছে, আপনি জাহান্নামে তার শাস্তি দ্বিগুণ করে দিন। They will say: "Our Lord! whoever brought this upon us,- Add to him a double Penalty in the Fire!" |

| 279 | তারা আরও বলবে, আমাদের কি হল যে, আমরা যাদেরকে মন্দ লোক বলে গণ্য করতাম, তাদেরকে এখানে দেখছি না। And they will say: "What has happened to us that we see not men whom we used to number among the bad ones? |

| 280 | আমরা কি অহেতুক তাদেরকে ঠাট্টার পাত্র করে নিয়েছিলাম, না আমাদের দৃষ্টি ভুল করছে? "Did we treat them (as such) in ridicule, or have (our) eyes failed to perceive them?" |
(ছোয়াদ: আয়াতঃ ৬৩) |
| 281 | জেনে রাখুন, নিষ্ঠাপূর্ণ এবাদত আল্লাহরই নিমিত্ত। যারা আল্লাহ ব্যতীত অপরকে উপাস্যরূপে গ্রহণ করে রেখেছে এবং বলে যে, আমরা তাদের এবাদত এ জন্যেই করি, যেন তারা আমাদেরকে আল্লাহর নিকটবর্তী করে দেয়। নিশ্চয় আল্লাহ তাদের মধ্যে তাদের পারস্পরিক বিরোধপূর্ণ বিষয়ের ফয়সালা করে দেবেন। আল্লাহ মিথ্যাবাদী কাফেরকে সৎপথে পরিচালিত করেন না। Is it not to Allah that sincere devotion is due? But those who take for protectors other than Allah (say): "We only serve them in order that they may bring us nearer to Allah." Truly Allah will judge between them in that wherein they differ. But Allah guides not such as are false and ungrateful. |

| 282 | তারা বলবে, সমস্ত প্রশংসা আল্লাহর, যিনি আমাদের প্রতি তাঁর ওয়াদা পূর্ণ করেছেন এবং আমাদেরকে এ ভূমির উত্তরাধিকারী করেছেন। আমরা জান্নাতের যেখানে ইচ্ছা বসবাস করব। মেহনতকারীদের পুরস্কার কতই চমৎকার। They will say: "Praise be to Allah, Who has truly fulfilled His Promise to us, and has given us (this) land in heritage: We can dwell in the Garden as we will: how excellent a reward for those who work (righteousness)!" |

| 283 | যারা আরশ বহন করে এবং যারা তার চারপাশে আছে, তারা তাদের পালনকর্তার সপ্রশংস পবিত্রতা বর্ণনা করে, তার প্রতি বিশ্বাস স্থাপন করে এবং মুমিনদের জন্যে ক্ষমা প্রার্থনা করে বলে, হে আমাদের পালনকর্তা, আপনার রহমত ও জ্ঞান সবকিছুতে পরিব্যাপ্ত। অতএব, যারা তওবা করে এবং আপনার পথে চলে, তাদেরকে ক্ষমা করুন এবং জাহান্নামের আযাব থেকে রক্ষা করুন। Those who sustain the Throne (of Allah) and those around it Sing Glory and Praise to their Lord; believe in Him; and implore Forgiveness for those who believe: "Our Lord! Thy Reach is over all things, in Mercy and Knowledge. Forgive, then, those who turn in Repentance, and follow Thy Path; and preserve them from the Penalty of the Blazing Fire! |

| 284 | হে আমাদের পালনকর্তা, আর তাদেরকে দাখিল করুন চিরকাল বসবাসের জান্নাতে, যার ওয়াদা আপনি তাদেরকে দিয়েছেন এবং তাদের বাপ-দাদা, পতি-পত্নী ও সন্তানদের মধ্যে যারা সৎকর্ম করে তাদেরকে। নিশ্চয় আপনি পরাক্রমশালী, প্রজ্ঞাময়। "And grant, our Lord! that they enter the Gardens of Eternity, which Thou hast promised to them, and to the righteous among their fathers, their wives, and their posterity! For Thou art (He), the Exalted in Might, Full of Wisdom. |

| 285 | তারা বলবে হে আমাদের পালনকর্তা! আপনি আমাদেরকে দু’বার মৃত্যু দিয়েছেন এবং দু’ বার জীবন দিয়েছেন। এখন আমাদের অপরাধ স্বীকার করছি। অতঃপর এখন ও নিস্কৃতির কোন উপায় আছে কি? They will say: "Our Lord! twice hast Thou made us without life, and twice hast Thou given us Life! Now have we recognised our sins: Is there any way out (of this)?" |

| 286 | হে আমার কওম, আজ এদেশে তোমাদেরই রাজত্ব, দেশময় তোমরাই বিচরণ করছ; কিন্তু আমাদের আল্লাহর শাস্তি এসে গেলে কে আমাদেরকে সাহায্য করবে? ফেরাউন বলল, আমি যা বুঝি, তোমাদেরকে তাই বোঝাই, আর আমি তোমাদেরকে মঙ্গলের পথই দেখাই। "O my People! Yours is the dominion this day: Ye have the upper hand in the land: but who will help us from the Punishment of Allah, should it befall us?" Pharaoh said: "I but point out to you that which I see (myself); Nor do I guide you but to the Path of Right!" |

| 287 | এতে সন্দেহ নেই যে, তোমরা আমাকে যার দিকে দাওয়াত দাও, হইকালে ও পরকালে তার কোন দাওয়াত নেই! আমাদের প্রত্যাবর্তন আল্লাহর দিকে এবং সীমা লংঘকারীরাই জাহান্নামী। "Without doubt ye do call me to one who is not fit to be called to, whether in this world, or in the Hereafter; our return will be to Allah; and the Transgressors will be Companions of the Fire! |
(আল-মু'মিন: আয়াতঃ ৪৩) |
| 288 | যখন তারা জাহান্নামে পরস্পর বিতর্ক করবে, অতঃপর দূর্বলরা অহংকারীদেরকে বলবে, আমরা তোমাদের অনুসারী ছিলাম। তোমরা এখন জাহান্নামের আগুনের কিছু অংশ আমাদের থেকে নিবৃত করবে কি? Behold, they will dispute with each other in the Fire! The weak ones (who followed) will say to those who had been arrogant, "We but followed you: Can ye then take (on yourselves) from us some share of the Fire? |

| 289 | যারা জাহান্নামে আছে, তারা জাহান্নামের রক্ষীদেরকে বলবে, তোমরা তোমাদের পালনকর্তাকে বল, তিনি যেন আমাদের থেকে একদিনের আযাব লাঘব করে দেন। Those in the Fire will say to the Keepers of Hell: "Pray to your Lord to lighten us the Penalty for a day (at least)!" |
(আল-মু'মিন: আয়াতঃ ৪৯) |
| 290 | আল্লাহ ব্যতীত? তারা বলবে, তারা আমাদের কাছ থেকে উধাও হয়ে গেছে; বরং আমরা তো ইতিপূর্বে কোন কিছুর পূজাই করতাম না। এমনি ভাবে আল্লাহ কাফেরদেরকে বিভ্রান্ত করেন। "In derogation of Allah?" They will reply: "They have left us in the lurch: Nay, we invoked not, of old, anything (that had real existence)." Thus does Allah leave the Unbelievers to stray. |

| 291 | তারা বলে আপনি যে বিষয়ের দিকে আমাদের কে দাওয়াত দেন, সে বিষয়ে আমাদের অন্তর আবরণে আবৃত, আমাদের কর্ণে আছে বোঝা এবং আমাদের ও আপনার মাঝখানে আছে অন্তরাল। অতএব, আপনি আপনার কাজ করুন এবং আমরা আমাদের কাজ করি। They say: "Our hearts are under veils, (concealed) from that to which thou dost invite us, and in our ears in a deafness, and between us and thee is a screen: so do thou (what thou wilt); for us, we shall do (what we will!)" |

| 292 | যখন তাদের কাছে রসূলগণ এসেছিলেন সম্মুখ দিক থেকে এবং পিছন দিক থেকে এ কথা বলতে যে, তোমরা আল্লাহ ব্যতীত কারও পূজা করো না। তারা বলেছিল, আমাদের পালনকর্তা ইচ্ছা করলে অবশ্যই ফেরেশতা প্রেরণ করতেন, অতএব, আমরা তোমাদের আনীত বিষয় অমান্য করলাম। Behold, the messengers came to them, from before them and behind them, (preaching): "Serve none but Allah." They said, "If our Lord had so pleased, He would certainly have sent down angels (to preach). Now we reject your mission (altogether)." |

| 293 | যারা ছিল আদ, তারা পৃথিবীতে অযথা অহংকার করল এবং বলল, আমাদের অপেক্ষা অধিক শক্তিধর কে? তারা কি লক্ষ্য করেনি যে, যে আল্লাহ তাদেরকে সৃষ্টি করেছেন, তিনি তাদের অপেক্ষা অধিক শক্তিধর ? বস্তুতঃ তারা আমার নিদর্শনাবলী অস্বীকার করত। Now the 'Ad behaved arrogantly through the land, against (all) truth and reason, and said: "Who is superior to us in strength?" What! did they not see that Allah, Who created them, was superior to them in strength? But they continued to reject Our Signs! |

| 294 | তারা তাদের ত্বককে বলবে, তোমরা আমাদের বিপক্ষে সাক্ষ্য দিলে কেন? তারা বলবে, যে আল্লাহ সব কিছুকে বাকশক্তি দিয়েছেন, তিনি আমাদেরকেও বাকশক্তি দিয়েছেন। তিনিই তোমাদেরকে প্রথমবার সৃষ্টি করেছেন এবং তোমরা তাঁরই দিকে প্রত্যাবর্তিত হবে। They will say to their skins: "Why bear ye witness against us?" They will say: "Allah hath given us speech,- (He) Who giveth speech to everything: He created you for the first time, and unto Him were ye to return. |

| 295 | কাফেররা বলবে, হে আমাদের পালনকর্তা! যেসব জিন ও মানুষ আমাদেরকে পথভ্রষ্ট করেছিল, তাদেরকে দেখিয়ে দাও, আমরা তাদেরকে পদদলিত করব, যাতে তারা যথেষ্ট অপমানিত হয়। And the Unbelievers will say: "Our Lord! Show us those, among Jinns and men, who misled us: We shall crush them beneath our feet, so that they become the vilest (before all)." |
(হা-মীম সেজদাহ: আয়াতঃ ২৯) |
| 296 | নিশ্চয় যারা বলে, আমাদের পালনকর্তা আল্লাহ, অতঃপর তাতেই অবিচল থাকে, তাদের কাছে ফেরেশতা অবতীর্ণ হয় এবং বলে, তোমরা ভয় করো না, চিন্তা করো না এবং তোমাদের প্রতিশ্রুত জান্নাতের সুসংবাদ শোন। In the case of those who say, "Our Lord is Allah", and, further, stand straight and steadfast, the angels descend on them (from time to time): "Fear ye not!" (they suggest), "Nor grieve! but receive the Glad Tidings of the Garden (of Bliss), the which ye were promised! |

| 297 | কেয়ামতের জ্ঞান একমাত্র তাঁরই জানা। তাঁর জ্ঞানের বাইরে কোন ফল আবরণমুক্ত হয় না। এবং কোন নারী গর্ভধারণ ও সন্তান প্রসব করে না। যেদিন আল্লাহ তাদেরকে ডেকে বলবেন, আমার শরীকরা কোথায়? সেদিন তারা বলবে, আমরা আপনাকে বলে দিয়েছি যে, আমাদের কেউ এটা স্বীকার করে না। To Him is referred the Knowledge of the Hour (of Judgment: He knows all): No date-fruit comes out of its sheath, nor does a female conceive (within her womb) nor bring forth the Day that (Allah) will propound to them the (question), "Where are the partners (ye attributed to Me?" They will say, "We do assure thee not one of us can bear witness!" |

| 298 | সুতরাং আপনি এর প্রতিই দাওয়াত দিন এবং হুকুম অনুযায়ী অবিচল থাকুন; আপনি তাদের খেয়ালখুশীর অনুসরণ করবেন না। বলুন, আল্লাহ যে কিতাব নাযিল করেছেন, আমি তাতে বিশ্বাস স্থাপন করেছি। আমি তোমাদের মধ্যে ন্যায় বিচার করতে আদিষ্ট হয়েছি। আল্লাহ আমাদের পালনকর্তা ও তোমাদের পালনকর্তা। আমাদের জন্যে আমাদের কর্ম এবং তোমাদের জন্যে তোমাদের কর্ম। আমাদের মধ্যে ও তোমাদের মধ্যে বিবাদ নেই। আল্লাহ আমাদেরকে সমবেত করবেন এবং তাঁরই দিকে প্রত্যাবর্তণ হবে। Now then, for that (reason), call (them to the Faith), and stand steadfast as thou art commanded, nor follow thou their vain desires; but say: "I believe in the Book which Allah has sent down; and I am commanded to judge justly between you. Allah is our Lord and your Lord: for us (is the responsibility for) our deeds, and for you for your deeds. There is no contention between us and you. Allah will bring us together, and to Him is (our) Final Goal. |

| 299 | আল্লাহ যাকে পথ ভ্রষ্ট করেন, তার জন্যে তিনি ব্যতীত কোন কার্যনির্বাহী নেই। পাপাচারীরা যখন আযাব প্রত্যক্ষ করবে, তখন আপনি তাদেরকে দেখবেন যে, তারা বলছে আমাদের ফিরে যাওয়ার কোন উপায় আছে কি? For any whom Allah leaves astray, there is no protector thereafter. And thou wilt see the Wrong-doers, when in sight of the Penalty, Say: "Is there any way (to effect) a return?" |

| 300 | যাতে তোমরা তাদের পিঠের উপর আরোহণ কর। অতঃপর তোমাদের পালনকর্তার নেয়ামত স্মরণ কর এবং বল পবিত্র তিনি, যিনি এদেরকে আমাদের বশীভূত করে দিয়েছেন এবং আমরা এদেরকে বশীভূত করতে সক্ষম ছিলাম না। In order that ye may sit firm and square on their backs, and when so seated, ye may celebrate the (kind) favour of your Lord, and say, "Glory to Him Who has subjected these to our (use), for we could never have accomplished this (by ourselves), |

| 301 | আমরা অবশ্যই আমাদের পালনকর্তার দিকে ফিরে যাব। "And to our Lord, surely, must we turn back!" |
(যুখরুফ: আয়াতঃ ১৪) |
| 302 | বরং তারা বলে, আমরা আমাদের পূর্বপুরুষদেরকে পেয়েছি এক পথের পথিক এবং আমরা তাদেরই পদাংক অনুসরণ করে পথপ্রাপ্ত। Nay! they say: "We found our fathers following a certain religion, and we do guide ourselves by their footsteps." |

| 303 | এমনিভাবে আপনার পূর্বে আমি যখন কোন জনপদে কোন সতর্ককারী প্রেরণ করেছি, তখনই তাদের বিত্তশালীরা বলেছে, আমরা আমাদের পূর্বপুরুষদেরকে পেয়েছি এক পথের পথিক এবং আমরা তাদেরই পদাংক অনুসরণ করে চলছি। Just in the same way, whenever We sent a Warner before thee to any people, the wealthy ones among them said: "We found our fathers following a certain religion, and we will certainly follow in their footsteps." |

| 304 | তারা বলল, হে যাদুকর, তুমি আমাদের জন্যে তোমার পালনকর্তার কাছে সে বিষয় প্রার্থনা কর, যার ওয়াদা তিনি তোমাকে দিয়েছেন; আমরা অবশ্যই সৎপথ অবলম্বন করব। And they said, "O thou sorcerer! Invoke thy Lord for us according to His covenant with thee; for we shall truly accept guidance." |

| 305 | এবং বলল, আমাদের উপাস্যরা শ্রেষ্ঠ, না সে? তারা আপনার সামনে যে উদাহরণ উপস্থাপন করে তা কেবল বিতর্কের জন্যেই করে। বস্তুতঃ তারা হল এক বিতর্ককারী সম্প্রদায়। And they say, "Are our gods best, or he?" This they set forth to thee, only by way of disputation: yea, they are a contentious people. |

| 306 | তারা ডেকে বলবে, হে মালেক, পালনকর্তা আমাদের কিসসাই শেষ করে দিন। সে বলবে, নিশ্চয় তোমরা চিরকাল থাকবে। They will cry: "O Malik! would that thy Lord put an end to us!" He will say, "Nay, but ye shall abide!" |

| 307 | হে আমাদের পালনকর্তা আমাদের উপর থেকে শাস্তি প্রত্যাহার করুন, আমরা বিশ্বাস স্থাপন করছি। (They will say:) "Our Lord! remove the Penalty from us, for we do really believe!" |

| 308 | প্রথম মৃত্যুর মাধ্যমেই আমাদের সবকিছুর অবসান হবে এবং আমরা পুনরুত্থিত হব না। "There is nothing beyond our first death, and we shall not be raised again. |
(আদ দোখান: আয়াতঃ ৩৫) |
| 309 | তোমরা যদি সত্যবাদী হও, তবে আমাদের পূর্বপুরুষদেরকে নিয়ে এস। "Then bring (back) our forefathers, if what ye say is true!" |

| 310 | তারা বলে, আমাদের পার্থিব জীবনই তো শেষ; আমরা মরি ও বাঁচি মহাকালই আমাদেরকে ধ্বংস করে। তাদের কাছে এ ব্যাপারে কোন জ্ঞান নেই। তারা কেবল অনুমান করে কথা বলে। And they say: "What is there but our life in this world? We shall die and we live, and nothing but time can destroy us." But of that they have no knowledge: they merely conjecture: |

| 311 | তাদের কাছে যখন আমার সুস্পষ্ট আয়াতসমূহ পাঠ করা হয়, তখন একথা বলা ছাড়া তাদের কোন মুক্তিই থাকে না যে, তোমরা সত্যবাদী হলে আমাদের পূর্বপুরুষদেরকে নিয়ে আস। And when Our Clear Signs are rehearsed to them their argument is nothing but this: They say, "Bring (back) our forefathers, if what ye say is true!" |

| 312 | আর কাফেররা মুমিনদের বলতে লাগল যে, যদি এ দ্বীন ভাল হত তবে এরা আমাদেরকে পেছনে ফেলে এগিয়ে যেতে পারত না। তারা যখন এর মাধ্যমে সুপথ পায়নি, তখন শীঘ্রই বলবে, এ তো এক পুরাতন মিথ্যা। The Unbelievers say of those who believe: "If (this Message) were a good thing, (such men) would not have gone to it first, before us!" And seeing that they guide not themselves thereby, they will say, "this is an (old,) falsehood!" |

| 313 | নিশ্চয় যারা বলে, আমাদের পালনকর্তা আল্লাহ অতঃপর অবিচল থাকে, তাদের কোন ভয় নেই এবং তারা চিন্তিত হবে না। Verily those who say, "Our Lord is Allah," and remain firm (on that Path),- on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve. |

| 314 | তারা বলল, তুমি কি আমাদেরকে আমাদের উপাস্য দেব-দেবী থেকে নিবৃত্ত করতে আগমন করেছ? তুমি সত্যবাদী হলে আমাদেরকে যে বিষয়ের ওয়াদা দাও, তা নিয়ে আস। They said: "Hast thou come in order to turn us aside from our gods? Then bring upon us the (calamity) with which thou dost threaten us, if thou art telling the truth?" |

| 315 | (অতঃপর) তারা যখন শাস্তিকে মেঘরূপে তাদের উপত্যকা অভিমুখী দেখল, তখন বলল, এ তো মেঘ, আমাদেরকে বৃষ্টি দেবে। বরং এটা সেই বস্তু, যা তোমরা তাড়াতাড়ি চেয়েছিলে। এটা বায়ু এতে রয়েছে মর্মন্তুদ শাস্তি। Then, when they saw the (Penalty in the shape of) a cloud traversing the sky, coming to meet their valleys, they said, "This cloud will give us rain!" "Nay, it is the (Calamity) ye were asking to be hastened!- A wind wherein is a Grievous Penalty! |

| 316 | তারা বলল, হে আমাদের সম্প্রদায়, আমরা এমন এক কিতাব শুনেছি, যা মূসার পর অবর্তীণ হয়েছে। এ কিতাব পূর্ববর্তী সব কিতাবের প্রত্যায়ন করে, সত্যধর্ম ও সরলপথের দিকে পরিচালিত করে। They said, "O our people! We have heard a Book revealed after Moses, confirming what came before it: it guides (men) to the Truth and to a Straight Path. |

| 317 | হে আমাদের সম্প্রদায়, তোমরা আল্লাহর দিকে আহবানকারীর কথা মান্য কর এবং তাঁর প্রতি বিশ্বাস স্থাপন কর। তিনি তোমাদের গোনাহ মার্জনা করবেন। "O our people, hearken to the one who invites (you) to Allah, and believe in him: He will forgive you your faults, and deliver you from a Penalty Grievous. |

| 318 | যেদিন কাফেরদেরকে জাহান্নামের সামনে পেশ করা হবে, সেদিন বলা হবে, এটা কি সত্য নয়? তারা বলবে, হঁ্যা আমাদের পালনকর্তার শপথ। আল্লাহ বলবেন, আযাব আস্বাদন কর। কারণ, তোমরা কুফরী করতে। And on the Day that the Unbelievers will be placed before the Fire, (they will be asked,) "Is this not the Truth?" they will say, "Yea, by our Lord!" (One will say:) "Then taste ye the Penalty, for that ye were wont to deny (Truth)!" |

| 319 | মরুবাসীদের মধ্যে যারা গৃহে বসে রয়েছে, তারা আপনাকে বলবেঃ আমরা আমাদের ধন-সম্পদ ও পরিবার-পরিজনের কাজে ব্যস্ত ছিলাম। অতএব, আমাদের পাপ মার্জনা করান। তারা মুখে এমন কথা বলবে, যা তাদের অন্তরে নেই। বলুনঃ আল্লাহ তোমাদের ক্ষতি অথবা উপকার সাধনের ইচ্ছা করলে কে তাকে বিরত রাখতে পারে? বরং তোমরা যা কর, আল্লাহ সে বিষয় পরিপূর্ণ জ্ঞাত। The desert Arabs who lagged behind will say to thee: "We were engaged in (looking after) our flocks and herds, and our families: do thou then ask forgiveness for us." They say with their tongues what is not in their hearts. Say: "Who then has any power at all (to intervene) on your behalf with Allah, if His Will is to give you some loss or to give you some profit? But Allah is well acquainted with all that ye do. |

| 320 | তোমরা যখন যুদ্ধলব্ধ ধন-সম্পদ সংগ্রহের জন্য যাবে, তখন যারা পশ্চাতে থেকে গিয়েছিল, তারা বলবেঃ আমাদেরকেও তোমাদের সঙ্গে যেতে দাও। তারা আল্লাহর কালাম পরিবর্তন করতে চায়। বলুনঃ তোমরা কখনও আমাদের সঙ্গে যেতে পারবে না। আল্লাহ পূর্ব থেকেই এরূপ বলে দিয়েছেন। তারা বলবেঃ বরং তোমরা আমাদের প্রতি বিদ্বেষ পোষণ করছ। পরন্তু তারা সামান্যই বোঝে। Those who lagged behind (will say), when ye (are free to) march and take booty (in war): "Permit us to follow you." They wish to change Allah's decree: Say: "Not thus will ye follow us: Allah has already declared (this) beforehand": then they will say, "But ye are jealous of us." Nay, but little do they understand (such things). |

| 321 | তার সঙ্গী শয়তান বলবেঃ হে আমাদের পালনকর্তা, আমি তাকে অবাধ্যতায় লিপ্ত করিনি। বস্তুতঃ সে নিজেই ছিল সুদূর পথভ্রান্তিতে লিপ্ত। His Companion will say: "Our Lord! I did not make him transgress, but he was (himself) far astray." |

| 322 | অতঃপর আল্লাহ আমাদের প্রতি অনুগ্রহ করেছেন এবং আমাদেরকে আগুনের শাস্তি থেকে রক্ষা করেছেন। "But Allah has been good to us, and has delivered us from the Penalty of the Scorching Wind. |
(আত্ব তূর: আয়াতঃ ২৭) |
| 323 | তারা বলেছিলঃ আমরা কি আমাদেরই একজনের অনুসরণ করব? তবে তো আমরা বিপথগামী ও বিকার গ্রস্থরূপে গণ্য হব। For they said: "What! a man! a Solitary one from among ourselves! shall we follow such a one? Truly should we then be straying in mind, and mad! |

| 324 | আমাদের মধ্যে কি তারই প্রতি উপদেশ নাযিল করা হয়েছে? বরং সে একজন মিথ্যাবাদী, দাম্ভিক। "Is it that the Message is sent to him, of all people amongst us? Nay, he is a liar, an insolent one!" |
(আল ক্বামার: আয়াতঃ ২৫) |
| 325 | এবং আমাদের পূর্বপুরুষগণও! "(We) and our fathers of old?" |
(আল ওয়াক্বিয়া: আয়াতঃ ৪৮) |
| 326 | যেদিন কপট বিশ্বাসী পুরুষ ও কপট বিশ্বাসিনী নারীরা মুমিনদেরকে বলবেঃ তোমরা আমাদের জন্যে অপেক্ষা কর, আমরাও কিছু আলো নিব তোমাদের জ্যোতি থেকে। বলা হবেঃ তোমরা পিছনে ফিরে যাও ও আলোর খোঁজ কর। অতঃপর উভয় দলের মাঝখানে খাড়া করা হবে একটি প্রাচীর, যার একটি দরজা হবে। তার অভ্যন্তরে থাকবে রহমত এবং বাইরে থাকবে আযাব। One Day will the Hypocrites- men and women - say to the Believers: "Wait for us! Let us borrow (a Light) from your Light!" It will be said: "Turn ye back to your rear! then seek a Light (where ye can)!" So a wall will be put up betwixt them, with a gate therein. Within it will be Mercy throughout, and without it, all alongside, will be (Wrath and) Punishment! |

| 327 | আপনি কি ভেবে দেখেননি, যাদেরকে কানাঘুষা করতে নিষেধ করা হয়েছিল অতঃপর তারা নিষিদ্ধ কাজেরই পুনরাবৃত্তি করে এবং পাপাচার, সীমালংঘন এবং রসূলের অবাধ্যতার বিষয়েই কানাঘুষা করে। তারা যখন আপনার কাছে আসে, তখন আপনাকে এমন ভাষায় সালাম করে, যদ্দ্বারা আল্লাহ আপনাকে সালাম করেননি। তারা মনে মনে বলেঃ আমরা যা বলি, তজ্জন্যে আল্লাহ আমাদেরকে শাস্তি দেন না কেন? জাহান্নামই তাদের জন্যে যথেষ্ট। তারা তাতে প্রবেশ করবে। কতই না নিকৃষ্ট সেই জায়গা। Turnest thou not thy sight towards those who were forbidden secret counsels yet revert to that which they were forbidden (to do)? And they hold secret counsels among themselves for iniquity and hostility, and disobedience to the Messenger. And when they come to thee, they salute thee, not as Allah salutes thee, (but in crooked ways): And they say to themselves, "Why does not Allah punish us for our words?" Enough for them is Hell: In it will they burn, and evil is that destination! |
(আল মুজাদালাহ: আয়াতঃ ৮) |
| 328 | আর এই সম্পদ তাদের জন্যে, যারা তাদের পরে আগমন করেছে। তারা বলেঃ হে আমাদের পালনকর্তা, আমাদেরকে এবং ঈমানে আগ্রহী আমাদের ভ্রাতাগণকে ক্ষমা কর এবং ঈমানদারদের বিরুদ্ধে আমাদের অন্তরে কোন বিদ্বেষ রেখো না। হে আমাদের পালনকর্তা, আপনি দয়ালু, পরম করুণাময়। And those who came after them say: "Our Lord! Forgive us, and our brethren who came before us into the Faith, and leave not, in our hearts, rancour (or sense of injury) against those who have believed. Our Lord! Thou art indeed Full of Kindness, Most Merciful." |

| 329 | তোমাদের জন্যে ইব্রাহীম ও তাঁর সঙ্গীগণের মধ্যে চমৎকার আদর্শ রয়েছে। তারা তাদের সম্প্রদায়কে বলেছিলঃ তোমাদের সাথে এবং তোমরা আল্লাহর পরিবর্তে যার এবাদত কর, তার সাথে আমাদের কোন সম্পর্ক নেই। আমরা তোমাদের মানি না। তোমরা এক আল্লাহর প্রতি বিশ্বাস স্থাপন না করলে তোমাদের মধ্যে ও আমাদের মধ্যে চিরশত্রুতা থাকবে। কিন্তু ইব্রাহীমের উক্তি তাঁর পিতার উদ্দেশে এই আদর্শের ব্যতিক্রম। তিনি বলেছিলেনঃ আমি অবশ্যই তোমার জন্য ক্ষমাপ্রার্থনা করব। তোমার উপকারের জন্যে আল্লাহর কাছে আমার আর কিছু করার নেই। হে আমাদের পালনকর্তা! আমরা তোমারই উপর ভরসা করেছি, তোমারই দিকে মুখ করেছি এবং তোমারই নিকট আমাদের প্রত্যাবর্তন। There is for you an excellent example (to follow) in Abraham and those with him, when they said to their people: "We are clear of you and of whatever ye worship besides Allah: we have rejected you, and there has arisen, between us and you, enmity and hatred for ever,- unless ye believe in Allah and Him alone": But not when Abraham said to his father: "I will pray for forgiveness for thee, though I have no power (to get) aught on thy behalf from Allah." (They prayed): "Our Lord! in Thee do we trust, and to Thee do we turn in repentance: to Thee is (our) Final Goal. |

| 330 | হে আমাদের পালনকর্তা! তুমি আমাদেরকে কাফেরদের জন্য পরীক্ষার পাত্র করো না। হে আমাদের পালনকর্তা! আমাদের ক্ষমা কর। নিশ্চয় তুমি পরাক্রমশালী, প্রজ্ঞাময়। "Our Lord! Make us not a (test and) trial for the Unbelievers, but forgive us, our Lord! for Thou art the Exalted in Might, the Wise." |
(আল মুমতাহিনা: আয়াতঃ ৫) |
| 331 | এটা এ কারণে যে, তাদের কাছে তাদের রসূলগণ প্রকাশ্য নিদর্শনাবলীসহ আগমন করলে তারা বলতঃ মানুষই কি আমাদেরকে পথপ্রদর্শন করবে? অতঃপর তারা কাফের হয়ে গেল এবং মুখ ফিরিয়ে নিল। এতে আল্লাহর কিছু আসে যায় না। আল্লাহ অমুখাপেক্ষী প্রশংসিত। That was because there came to them messengers with Clear Signs, but they said: "Shall (mere) human beings direct us?" So they rejected (the Message) and turned away. But Allah can do without (them): and Allah is free of all needs, worthy of all praise. |
(আত-তাগাবুন: আয়াতঃ ৬) |
| 332 | মুমিনগণ! তোমরা আল্লাহ তা’আলার কাছে তওবা কর-আন্তরিক তওবা। আশা করা যায়, তোমাদের পালনকর্তা তোমাদের মন্দ কর্মসমূহ মোচন করে দেবেন এবং তোমাদেরকে দাখিল করবেন জান্নাতে, যার তলদেশে নদী প্রবাহিত। সেদিন আল্লাহ নবী এবং তাঁর বিশ্বাসী সহচরদেরকে অপদস্থ করবেন না। তাদের নূর তাদের সামনে ও ডানদিকে ছুটোছুটি করবে। তারা বলবেঃ হে আমাদের পালনকর্তা, আমাদের নূরকে পূর্ণ করে দিন এবং আমাদেরকে ক্ষমা করুন। নিশ্চয় আপনি সবকিছুর উপর সর্ব শক্তিমান। O ye who believe! Turn to Allah with sincere repentance: In the hope that your Lord will remove from you your ills and admit you to Gardens beneath which Rivers flow,- the Day that Allah will not permit to be humiliated the Prophet and those who believe with him. Their Light will run forward before them and by their right hands, while they say, "Our Lord! Perfect our Light for us, and grant us Forgiveness: for Thou hast power over all things." |

| 333 | তারা বলবেঃ হ্যাঁ আমাদের কাছে সতর্ককারী আগমন করেছিল, অতঃপর আমরা মিথ্যারোপ করেছিলাম এবং বলেছিলামঃ আল্লাহ তা’আলা কোন কিছু নাজিল করেননি। তোমরা মহাবিভ্রান্তিতে পড়ে রয়েছ। They will say: "Yes indeed; a Warner did come to us, but we rejected him and said, 'Allah never sent down any (Message): ye are nothing but an egregious delusion!'" |

| 334 | বলুন, তোমরা কি ভেবে দেখেছ-যদি আল্লাহ তা’আলা আমাকে ও আমার সংগীদেরকে ধ্বংস করেন অথবা আমাদের প্রতি দয়া করেন, তবে কাফেরদেরকে কে যন্ত্রণাদায়ক শাস্তি থেকে রক্ষা করবে? Say: "See ye?- If Allah were to destroy me, and those with me, or if He bestows His Mercy on us,- yet who can deliver the Unbelievers from a grievous Penalty?" |

| 335 | তারা বললঃ আমরা আমাদের পালনকর্তার পবিত্রতা ঘোষণা করছি, নিশ্চিতই আমরা সীমালংঘনকারী ছিলাম। They said: "Glory to our Lord! Verily we have been doing wrong!" |
(আল কলম: আয়াতঃ ২৯) |
| 336 | তারা বললঃ হায়! দুর্ভোগ আমাদের আমরা ছিলাম সীমাতিক্রমকারী। They said: "Alas for us! We have indeed transgressed! |
(আল কলম: আয়াতঃ ৩১) |
| 337 | সম্ভবতঃ আমাদের পালনকর্তা পরিবর্তে এর চাইতে উত্তম বাগান আমাদেরকে দিবেন। আমরা আমাদের পালনকর্তার কাছে আশাবাদী। "It may be that our Lord will give us in exchange a better (garden) than this: for we do turn to Him (in repentance)!" |

| 338 | যা সৎপথ প্রদর্শন করে। ফলে আমরা তাতে বিশ্বাস স্থাপন করেছি। আমরা কখনও আমাদের পালনকর্তার সাথে কাউকে শরীক করব না। 'It gives guidance to the Right, and we have believed therein: we shall not join (in worship) any (gods) with our Lord. |

| 339 | এবং আরও বিশ্বাস করি যে, আমাদের পালনকর্তার মহান মর্যাদা সবার উর্ধ্বে। তিনি কোন পত্নী গ্রহণ করেননি এবং তাঁর কোন সন্তান নেই। 'And Exalted is the Majesty of our Lord: He has taken neither a wife nor a son. |

| 340 | আমাদের মধ্যে নির্বোধেরা আল্লাহ তা’আলা সম্পর্কে বাড়াবাড়ির কথাবার্তা বলত। 'There were some foolish ones among us, who used to utter extravagant lies against Allah; |

| 341 | আমাদের কেউ কেউ সৎকর্মপরায়ণ এবং কেউ কেউ এরূপ নয়। আমরা ছিলাম বিভিন্ন পথে বিভক্ত। 'There are among us some that are righteous, and some the contrary: we follow divergent paths. |

| 342 | আমাদের কিছুসংখ্যক আজ্ঞাবহ এবং কিছুসংখ্যক অন্যায়কারী। যারা আজ্ঞাবহ হয়, তারা সৎপথ বেছে নিয়েছে। 'Amongst us are some that submit their wills (to Allah), and some that swerve from justice. Now those who submit their wills - they have sought out (the path) of right conduct: |

| 343 | আমাদের মৃত্যু পর্যন্ত। "Until there came to us (the Hour) that is certain." |

| 344 | আমরা আমাদের পালনকর্তার তরফ থেকে এক ভীতিপ্রদ ভয়ংকর দিনের ভয় রাখি। "We only fear a Day of distressful Wrath from the side of our Lord." |
